Trivia / Casper the Friendly Ghost

Go To

  • Cross-Dressing Voices: In the original 1945 Noveltoon and his own theatrical cartoons proper, Casper was voiced by Cecil Roy.
    • In "The New Casper Cartoon Show" Casper's voice switched between Norma Macmillan and Ginny Tyler.
    • On Casper and the Angels and the two prime-time specials, Casper was voiced by Julie McWhirter.
  • Follow the Leader:
    • Charlton Comics published their own knockoff comic book of the series called Timmy the Timid Ghost.
    • Atlas Comics (the predecessor to Marvel Comics) also published a knockoff comic called Homer the Happy Ghost.
    • The most blatant of them by far is Fawcett's Spunky the Smiling Spook, who is designed to be identical to Casper.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes:
    • Only a select few episodes of Casper and the Angels were released on VHS, and none of them made it to DVD. Various episodes of The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper were released on VHS and DVD, but they've been out of print since 2008.
    • Rescued with the theatrical shorts (albeit without their original titles) and The New Casper Cartoon Show which were released on the Casper The Friendly Ghost: The Complete Collection 1945-1963 DVD set in 2011. Casper's Scare School is available on Amazon Prime.
  • Short-Runner: The Casper and the Spectrals series. Only lasted for three issues, due to the publisher losing the license. Probably didn't help that the comics releases were very spaced out. (First release: October 2009. Last release: September 2010)
  • You Look Familiar: The Evil Debt Collector from the 1945 Noveltoon uses the same character design as a frequent Little Lulu antagonist.
