• All Part of the Show: Thanks to Allen Funt's fame from the show, a hijacking of a plane he was on in 1969 was mistaken for a prank by a few passengers who recognized him, despite Funt's protests that it was very real and the hijackers' attempts to ignore the obvious humiliation they were receiving. Only when the plane landed in Havana did they realize that this wasn't a Candid Camera prank.
• Creator Backlash: In his 1994 memoir Candidly, Allen Funt stated he did not approve of the 1991 revival's format or Dom DeLuise as co-host, citing financial reasons towards its existence.
• Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Allen Funt considered Totally Hidden Video enough of one to file a plagiarism suit against FOX network (which aired THV from 1989-92).
