Trivia / Camp Camp

  • Acting for Two:
    • All three Flower Scouts are voiced by Samantha Ireland. In an unusual example of this trope, Ireland uses very similar voices for all three characters.
    • Jordan Cweirz plays the platypus, Jermy Fartz, and Mrs. Fartz, with the latter two even having identical voices.
    • Shannon McCormick plays both the Quartermaster and Quartersister.
    • Both of Ered's dads are played by Ryan Haywood. Fitting, as they're practically clones of each other.
    • Ered, Harrison's mom, and Preston's "gram gram" are all voiced by Jen Brown.
    • Miles Luna plays David and Mr. Fartz.
    • Matt Chapman plays both Neil's father and Graggle.
  • Ascended Fanon: Neil's vulgarity wasn't something the writers picked up on until it was pointed out by fans, and it's continued to be part of his character ever since.
  • The Cast Show Off: Both the opening theme and "Better Than You" are great showcases for Miles Luna's songwriting and singing (the latter, a "duel" with an actual musician!) - just don't ask him to perform the theme... And while Lee Eddy was insecure about singing in the first season finale, many comments praise how she pulled it off.
  • Channel Hop: While previous seasons were uploaded to YouTube in addition to Rooster Teeth's own website (and, by proxy VRV), when the third season started, new episodes of Camp Camp stopped being posted there as a result of YouTube changing their content and monetization policies around late 2017. Episodes of Season 3 finally started being posted to YouTube through RT Animation's account in June 2019, the year after the season was released. Now, as of October 2023, most of the episodes on YouTube were set to private. Although they can all be watched for free on YouTube and Tubi, those versions are censored.
  • Crossdressing Voices:
    • Space Kid is a male child voiced by the non-binary Lindsay Jones.
    • Quartersister, the Quartermaster's...sister is voiced by Shannon McCormick.
    • Mrs. Fartz is played by Jordan Cweirz and sounds identical to Jermy.
  • Descended Creator:
    • Miles Luna and Jordan Cweirz, the creators of the show, voice David and Jermy respectively, among other smaller roles.
    • Georden Whitman, who voices Preston Goodplay, is also one of the show's concept artists. However, he left the show before Season 3, requiring him to be replaced.
  • Development Gag: During a writing session for the pilot, a sick and flatulent Miles led Jordan to react with "get your germy farts away from me!", to which the response was "that must be the shittiest kid's name ever". They soon thought of Jermy Fartz, who would be introduced in season 2 as "an episode that would probably only be funny for us".
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Nicholaus Weindel replaces Georden Whitman as Preston in Season 3 after the latter's departure from Rooster Teeth.
    • From "With Friends Like These" to Season 5, all of the non-white main characters have been recast with actors of the appropriate race; Krishna Kumar replaces Michael Jones as Max, Kaitlin Becker replaces Lee Eddy as Gwen, and BlackKrystel replaces Barbara Dunkelman as Nerris.
  • Playing Against Type:
    • Yuri Lowenthal, best known for his role of cynical Anti-Hero Sasuke Uchiha, playing a geeky science nerd? You'd probably assume he'd be playing Max.
    • Elizabeth Maxwell also noted that she usually plays stern characters such as Winter Schnee, so them wanting to do a high-pitched and excitable character such as Nikki was a nice change of pace.
  • Real-Life Relative:
    • Max may loathe Space Kid, but their respective voice actors, Michael and Lindsay Jones, are very much Happily Married with children in real life.
    • In "Parents Day", Nurf's mom is voiced by Elyse Willems (who expresses no interest in having kids), wife of Dolph's VA James Willems.
  • The Resolution Will Not Be Identified: Aside from the farewell message after the credits, "Infested" is a standard episode, as the crew didn't know it would be the series finale until the last minute.
  • Rule 34 – Creator Reactions: The cast and crew were reasonably horrified that Rule 34 art of the characters exists, mainly because most of the cast is made up of children.
  • Same Voice Their Entire Life: David has the same voice actor as a young child and an adult, albeit his child voice is literally just Miles Luna doing some kind of weird falsetto. Though, this could be because he's telling the events as a story in the present and putting on a voice for his younger self.
  • Trolling Creator: During the Camp Camp panel on RTX 2017, the crew vehemently denied that there would be a Parent's Day episode.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Space Kid was originally going to be Fat Kid. He would've been a fat slob with spaghetti on his shirt, without any interest in space. Jermy Fartz may have been based on this concept.
    • Max went through a bunch of designs before they settled on the final one. One in particular had him wearing a beanie.
    • Neil also went through a lot of designs. He had a dreadlocks-esque hairdo at one point, he originally looked more like Max, and in the original pilot, he looked a lot like Space Kid with glasses.
    • The pilot was originally much different. The original script had way more kids than just Nikki and Neil coming to the camp, and Cameron Campbell didn't show up in person. A few jokes from Gwen ended up getting cut as well.
  • Write What You Know: The camp concept came from Miles Luna's experiences as a camper in his childhood and as a camp counselor during his teenage years.
