- Creator Backlash: The band members lambasted the album in retrospect, though David Gilmour still likes his composition "Fat Old Sun" (he even tried to get it in the Greatest Hits Album Echoes and added it to his solo setlists), and performed the title track with a cover band in 2008. Roger Waters also revived "If" in his '80s solo shows.

- The Stand of Yoshikage Kira's father, Yoshihiro Kira, from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, is named Atom Heart Father.
- Stanley Kubrick had originally intended to have music from Atom Heart Mother be used in his classic film, A Clockwork Orange. After approaching the band for permission, only to be turned down, he instead opted to have the album itself make an appearance in the background of a record shop scene.
- Troubled Production: The title suite was very laborious to make. Their troubles continued on tour, when their gear was stolen in New Orleans, which threatened to end the tour entirely, before a groupie contacted her boyfriend who worked for The FBI and the band's truck was recovered, albeit with several pieces of gear missing.
