Trivia / Asterix and the Big Fight

Go To

1989 animated film:

  • Bad Export for You: When Optimum released Asterix and the Big Fight on DVD, British audiences got the poorly received American dub of instead of the more popular British dub with BRIAN BLESSED!!!!!.
  • Creator Killer: Neither of the two credited screenwriters, nor producer Yannik Piel, has any further credits to their name (other than Piel appearing As Himself in a retrospective documentary on the Asterix films) after this film. Philippe Grimond also never directed another film after this, albeit he did have numerous credits as a producer and storyboard artist.
  • Executive Meddling: The reason why it was called Asterix and the Big Fight in English territories despite actually being more an adaptation of Asterix and the Soothsayer — apparently the distributors were worried that younger viewers wouldn't know what a soothsayer was, and so went with the other of the two books the film was derived from.
  • International Coproduction: It is the first Asterix film to be co-produced by both a French and a German animation studio. Asterix Conquers America would follow.
