Trivia / Asterix Versus Caesar

Go To

  • Breakaway Pop Hit: The film's theme tune, "Asterix est là" by Plastic Bertrand, is considered by many French-language fans to be the theme tune of the entire Asterix franchise (though it's sometimes disputed since it's only been used once, you'll also find partisans of the Gérard Calvi instrumental theme from Asterix the Gaul and Asterix and Cleopatra). The synth-pop genre of the song does admittedly help narrow it down to one of the three 1980s Asterix films, though fans might not readily remember which one (in part because the theme song for Asterix in Britain re-uses the same melody, albeit with English lyrics by Cook da Books and a slower tempo).
  • Completely Different Title:
    • Asterix Versus Caesar itself against the original French title, La surprise de César ("Caesar's Surprise").
    • Known as Asterix – Sieg über Cäsar ("Asterix - Victory over Caesar") in Germany.
  • You Sound Familiar: Twofold in the French version. Pierre Tornade and Henri Labussière respectively voiced Chief Vitalstatistix and the Roman receptionist of The-Place-That-Sends-You-Mad in The Twelve Tasks of Asterix. Starting with Asterix Versus Caesar and up until Asterix Conquers America included, they voiced Obelix and Getafix, respectively.
