Tear Jerker / The Storyteller

• The Downer Ending to the story of Daedelus will likely rip out your soul. His son and nephew are dead, there is no one around to comfort him, and while he gets his revenge on King Minos he soon finds Vengeance Feels Empty and the story ends with Daedalus a broken and sad old man with no hope of redemption nor happiness.
• Although Hans the hedgehog and his wife end up living Happily Ever After, his parents fates are far sadder; his mother dies of a broken heart when he leaves home near the beginning. Meanwhile his father, who had hated Hans his entire life, finally realizes how loving his son is and is horrified how he only showed him abuse, and it’s too late start over given his son’s leaving.
• "The Heartless Giant". Even if you feel that the cruel Giant deserved to die, the ending line, "A little boy met a giant, and they became friends," may drive you to tears.
• Theseus also likely deserves his ending, but it is still an incredibly tragic one: his impetuousness leads him to abandon his mother, kill the helpless Minotaur over Ariadne's protests, then break his promise to Ariadne by abandoning her after she helped him, and inadvertently kill his father. He takes the throne in the end, but is clearly in despair over his actions.
