Heartwarming / The Storyteller

Go To

  • The conclusion of "Fearnot" in its entirety is astonishingly heartwarming as Fearnot finally learns what it is to shudder when faced not with monsters or bogeymen but with the prospect of losing his sweetheart. When he realizes that not only has he saved her but he's experienced genuine fear for the first time, the expression of pure joy on his face is a sight to behold.
Fearnot: You taught me! I've been so far, so long. And all it needed was the thought of losing you to teach me what fear was. I shuddered! I shuddered! I SHUDDERED!!
    • Fearnot’s friendship with Mr. Mc Kay is also sweet. Mc Kay goes from following Fearnot just to get his money, to becoming a dear friend who goes on to share Fearnot’s story to others.
  • The Princess catching her "grovelhog" (hedgehog) husband in "Hans, My Hedgehog" and refusing to let him go after wandering the world until three pairs of the iron shoes she was wearing had been worn down to nothing and her hair had turned white, as a way of proving her love for him. It works too, with the grovelhog forgiving the princess for breaking a promise earlier in the story and the two happily getting married.
  • The thief who saves Lucky in “Luckchild”, he is appalled at the cruelty of the king and changes his letter to make life easier for Lucky. When they meet again in the lair of the griffon, the thief then risks his life to help Lucky again. Not bad for a self-proclaimed nasty thief.
    • The thief’s relationship with the griffon is also bizarrely cute. The monstrous griffon keeps the thief and refuses to eat him since it sees him as a friend, liking his food and demanding scritches like a spoiled but affectionate pet.
  • In “A Story Short” the Storyteller’s final story moving the king, queen, the court, and even the terrible cook to tears and making them all applaud him. After seeing him be in danger of being executed for most of the episode, it feels good to see the Storyteller so praised. Then not far away we see the Begger who ensured the Storyteller had a heck of a story to tell, smiling happily at seeing him get his rewards.
