You know for a comic book series aimed at children, this series can get pretty damn emotionally devastating.

  • In the Guardian, Danaël breaks down upon finding out that his old comrades from the Silver Falcons either lost their lives trying to find the Divine Stones or reached their goal only to be transformed into hideous beasts, such as his older brother Ikaël.
  • Shimy ordering Lionfeu to flee because she doesn't want him to die at the hands of the Zar-Ikos.
  • Gryf ran away from home as a kid because he couldn't accept that his father was dying and there was nothing the healers could do to save him; having never left Jaguarys in his life, he predictably got lost in the mountains and was captured by Monslave traders. He was just a kid, and all he wanted was to find a way for his dad to get better; what he got was years of abuse at the hands of Menthos and being forced to fight other Monslaves to the death for "entertainment".
    • On the flipside, Kel-Cha had to deal with their father's death in a more stoic fashion precisely because his more hot-blooded brother Gryf/Anoth-Cha couldn't accept it; the last thing Anoth said to his brother was "I hate you" before he ran away and disappeared in the mountains without a trace. Kel spent the next twelve years in mourning, thinking his twin brother was dead. In a worse-before-it-gets-better way, it transpires that Anoth is, in fact, alive, but he has no idea who Kel is or why they have the same face.
    Kel: You... you don't remember me..?
    Gryf::... Should I?
  • Literally everything about book 10.
