- Any time one member of an Official Couple reacts to the death of the other, no matter which side, is heartbreaking.
- Lucian and Senna's reactions to when their other half dies. For Lucian especially, even when he's just screaming out Senna's name, he packs all his horror and anguish into it. What makes this worse is that they have special effects that go off specifically when their significant other dies.
- Just in case you still thought their marriage was strictly political, Ashe's reactions to Tryndamere biting the dust say everything.Ashe: You promised you'd live forever...
- Yasuo is just as broken and brooding as ever, and the interactions where he confronts his still-living brother Yone emphasizes just how utterly tired he is.Yone: Answer for what you've done!
Yasuo: I have nothing more to give!- When one sees the other die, Yone sounds appropriately weary and resigned, but Yasuo sounds like he's just had his heart torn out of his chest.
- Nautilus has a single devastating line upon the demise of Shellshocker, a group of turtle-like children playing soldiers.Nautilus: The children...
- Diana and Leona's friends-turned-unwilling mortal enemies is put on full display in this game, with each interaction between them being in an either frustrated or mournful. Diana in particular reacts poorly to Leona dying, even if she's on the enemy team.Diana: Open your eyes!
- The Watchers — the grand leaders of the Void that spell out inevitable doomsday for all of Runeterra — arrive in the game by Lissandra's hand, but while she may have made the deal that made them arrive faster, her cold, despondent reaction to them in their Flavor Text shows just how unbelievably regretful she is at having made it, and quietly terrified that they've now come to collect."This is the end. As it was foretold — as I promised. Sisters... forgive me."
- Nasus and Renekton exist in the game, and as expected, virtually all interactions between them are either bittersweet or just outright heartbreaking. For the first time, it also shows a possibility that beyond Nasus trying to save his brother from his own madness, Renekton may truly have love for Nasus after all... and that's shown when an allied Nasus dies. It's also shown when Renekton himself is slain, he cries out his brother's name, implying there's a brief moment of lucidity before he expires.Renekton: (Confused at what just happened) ... Brother?Renekton: I... wanted this...
- Ekko's a lot more upbeat than the mostly serious version of him seen in League of Legends, but this sharply drops whenever he interacts with Vi or Jinx. Especially with Arcane clearing up what happened to them in the past, it really hurts hearing how shaken and mournful he is seeing them in their current states.(to Jinx) "Man... I miss you so much..."
- Xerath's reveal brings with it not just his tragic backstory, but like Renekton, his death voiceline has him call out for Azir in his final moments.
- Lulu is perpetually happy like a Cloud Cuckoo Lander she is, but Nocturne can make her voice crack and feels like she's genuinely going to cry when he touches what she fears the most, she can't even turn it around with her usual zaniness.Nocturne: Your kind despises you!
Lulu: But, no that... really? - While it's sweet in demonstrating just how much he cares about Lux, Galio sounds utterly broken upon seeing her on the enemy team.Galio: It's not too late to turn around. Please...
Galio: Not you... anyone but you...- He also has several reactions towards Lux if she dies, both on the allied and enemy sides. No matter what the case, Galio sounds like he's on the verge of tears from realizing what just happened to her.
- The story of Jun, the Prodigy, is simply cruel. One of Master Yi's beloved apprentices, she was already doubtful of her ability to fight for Ionia, which tragically came to a head during Kayn's attack on the Wuju temple, where she was left bloodied and wounded. In her vulnerable desperation, she ended up becoming tempted by the Darkin Xolaani — promising her the power and immortality — and in accepting her power, Jun was entirely hijacked. Yi sounds really shaken to see his student perish in the way she does.
- Jax is, for the most part, an Awesome Ego Challenge Seeker, but there's one challenge he shies away from; returning home to Icathia.Icathian Mirage: You bound towards war and cower from Icathia.
- The Worldender expansion doesn't shy away from revealing that every Darkin, sans Xolaani, would gladly welcome oblivion if it were at all possible, and that the war they start is basically a protracted mass-Suicide by Cop, hoping that by creating a war on such apocalyptic scales, forces beyond mortal ken will be unleashed against them - exactly the kind of powers they hope can actually end them.
- Joraal is a darkin with tragedy surrounding him like all the others, but between his "weapon" being his Aegis and his voicelines, his existence is that much more tragic: He stood against the Void for countless years, using his Nigh-Invulnerability to defend others, and to this day the Aegis containing him is is barely scratched because what broke in the end wasn't his shield or armor, but his mind. Even in his dormant state, flavor text reveals that those who can hear his voice don't hear the tempting voices of the other darkin yearning for hosts, they hear a voice that's past the Despair Event Horizon and practically sobbing Broken Tears.Joraal's flavor text: A mighty Ascended tactician known as the Aegis of Eternity, Joraal seemed impervious to attack, even for the immortal god-warriors of Shurima. But the war against the Void raged on, and as resilient as Joraal's body was, it was his mind that broke. And how it broke.
