Tear Jerker / Conan the Barbarian (1982)

• The death of Conan's parents at the hands of Thulsa Doom and his horde in the beginning of the film.
  Akiro: "...The ashes were trampled into the earth, and the blood became as snow. Who knows what they came for; weapons of steel, or murder? It was never known, for their leader rode to the south, while children went north with the Vanir. No one would ever know that my lord's people had lived at all. His was a tale of sorrow."
• King Osric hiring Conan and company.
  King Osric: There comes a time, thief, when the jewels cease to sparkle, when the gold loses its luster, when the throne room becomes a prison, and all that is left is a father's love for his child.
  • This also serves as Foreshadowing for Conan's own future lonely, troubled existence as the King of Aquilonia, as seen in the epilogue.
• Conan's anguish when he rails at Doom for wiping out his home and family jars with his usual stoicism. It's clear that even after years if not decades, the trauma and grief he's suffered still weighs heavily on him. That Doom doesn't even remember the incident just drives home what a monster he is, and the commonplace brutality of the Hyborean Age.
• The whole funeral pyre scene. Especially when Subotai sheds Tender Tears for his friend. Not to mention the very fitting, dramatic music.
  The Wizard: Why do you cry?
  Subotai: He is Conan, a Cimmerian. He will not cry, so I cry for him.
  • A brief, subtle moment: Conan tenderly caresses Valeria's face moments before igniting her funeral pyre.
  • Then afterwards it becomes mixed with a Moment of Awesome as Valeria's pyre explodes. Why? Rule of Cool.
• Almost any scene involving Valeria when she's not sneaking around and killing people, such as when she discusses her loneliness and then wakes up to see Conan gone, headed out for Revenge.
• During the final battle, Princess Yasimina realizes Thulsa Doom is approaching her in an attempt to kill her. At first she screams for mercy from the man she followed, yet when it seems she is doomed the poor girl seems to snap out of whatever hold Doom had over her and fearfully screams for her father.
