Lets see, we have a Crapsack World run by a totalitarian government where the land is covered in radioactive gas, mixed with one where the world is divided into three with the leaders afflicted by a Hate Plague, leaving it perpetually on the brink of war. The residents are not in for happy times.

- Just like canon, Ryuga's whole situation. Convicted of a crime he didn't commit, he was then abducted, subjected to painful experimentation, and even after he escapes he's still pursued by people calling him a murderer.
- Night Rogue taunting Ragna about what happened to Saya and his inability to save her at the time.
- Kasumi's death hits just as hard here as it did in canon, especially with Night Rogue revealing that she and Ryuga were actually engaged just to rub salt in the wound. Even after sharing some final words with her, Ryuga is ready to just remain there and let the authorities recapture him before Sento encourages him to keep going.
- Makoto's recollection of her childhood reveals she faced a lot of discrimination growing up.
- Likewise, Ryuga's account of his childhood doesn't seem that great either, having lost his parents at a young age and been bounced around foster homes until he started his fighting career after middle school.
- Nabeshima being forced to undergo two transformations into a Smash in the course of a single day, even after he complied with Faust's orders.
