Like most other Tales games, Xillia 2 is filled to the brim with call backs and references to the previous games.
- Several of the cats caught for Ms Kitty Cat are named after previous Tales Of characters or other anime/videogame characters. Due to translation errors, though, the cat Natalina is a reference to Natalia and Cannon to Kannono from the Radiant Mythology games.
- Some aspects of Gaius are similar to Superman. He is one of the strongest characters in the game, is walking around in a 'disguise' and invites Ludger out to an igloo in the middle of the nowhere, which he calls his 'Fortress Of Solitude', in one skit.
- Ludger has a gun arte called Rolling Thunder.
- Leia's father cooks all of his dishes with Love.
- In Hamil, Alvin says that Elle is like the Chesire Cat bceause she never stops smiling.
- The titles obtained for using Leia's Steal ability are Riff-Raff, Street-Rat and She-Don't-Buy-That.
