Being Final Fantasy on the Internet, Forum Fantasy doubtlessly has numerous Shout-Outs to nearly everything from pop-culture to video-games at the time of its release.

  • The name of the real life forum the game is based on, the Chaos Theatre, is named after the club in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
  • Several references are from The Autarch, given that he was the one who promoted the game.
    • Chewie's Comical Overreacting from one mention of Delibird is a reference to his "Top Fifteen Worst Pokémon" list.
    • The "BEEEEER" sound effect is a reference to his 2011 April Fool's joke video "Top Ten Reasons Why You Should Drink Beer". The same video is also referenced by the music choice of the Village of Flame, being the Lawrence of Arabia overture, which played during said video. Lastly, he can summon the The Smoke Monster, which was a small joke at the end of one of the video's sections.
    • Since this game was made back when he was known as the Autarch of Flame, his battle sprite is appropriately Rubicante. His dungeon is even the Tower of Babil.
    • He drops a Hanzo Sword after defeating him in the first part of the fight. The normal Hanzo Sword is one of the weakest weapons in the game, referencing the Autarch's Hanzo Sword replica that was broken after filming "Top Ten Worst Pokémon". Defeating the Soul of Flame has him drop the Tsubaki MK. III.
    • The battle background to his first fight is the The Black Lodge.
    • The Beer Guy, who first appeared in "Top Ten Saddest Moments in Video Games", appears in his rematch.
    • The Laughing Autarch is a reference to the collabs between the Autarch and Joshscorcher, with their combined sprite being an amalgamation of Rubicante and Kefka Palazzo in his god form. One of the attacks is the infamous "YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY, THE MORE THE MERRIER" line, with the animation referencing it.
    • Hades himself, a character whom the Autarch is known for his impression of said character, appears as an Optional Boss. Defeating him would result in him combining with the Autarch of Flame to form The Autarch. The Autarch's sprite in that battle is a recolored version of Nyx Avatar. He also uses Black Viper and Morning Star, signature moves of Satan and Lucifer respectively.
    • Many of this game's jabs towards Final Fantasy VII fans are referenced from some of his voiced countdowns.
  • Joshscorcher himself isn't too far behind in terms of references either.
    • His battle sprite is of Kefka Palazzo.
    • His KABOOOOM! attack, which is a reference to his video outros, uses the voice of the Demoman.
    • His experience as part of the U.S. Marine Corps band is referenced in two of his attacks.
    • To trigger his boss fight and forge the banhammer, Prelich must troll him by mimicking common complaints from comments on his videos at the time. The one statement that triggers his first fight?
    Prelich: ...BROHOOF.
  • Camelslayer, being the Author Avatar of the game's developer of the same name, also has a few of his own.
Krazier: ...You have a serious Mateus complex, don't you?
    • His good side, Light Camelslayer, appears as a Belmont, specifically Leon Belmont. You can even steal the Vampire Killer from him. Even better, Leon Belmont is also the first Belmont chronologically to wield the Vampire Killer!
    • Defeat Felix Falora and Camelslayer will appear to knock out the former's marbles. The spell that he used? Sectumsempra.
  • Every enemy based off of a user from the actual forum has a sprite that happens to be a reference to something else.
  • The whole area of Kashyyyk.
  • The Infernal Bootcamp has a few.
  • The Optional Boss fought in the "Tambot's Redemption" quest is named Professor Rosseforp.
  • Towards the bottom of the upper part of Botlantis, you'll start to encounter GLaDOS and Sinistar.
  • In the Hall of Banterous Bosses, you fight Bowser, Ganondorf, Earthworm Jim, and Mother Brain.
  • The User enemy MediaMaster127 uses Koyaanisqatsi as a special attack.
  • User enemy Gahmah Raan uses early concept art for Facadma, Valkor's highest-ranking Forceless Archfiend in Star Wars: Paranormalities, a story developed by that very same user.
  • Hm, so Lilith is a winged seductress whose boss theme happens to be titled "You Don't Know Me"? Where have I seen that before?
  • In the credits of all places, Camelslayer decides to reference both This Very Wiki and yet another reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
  • One of the ways Vlarix killed himself? Juggling buster swords.
  • Gandalf's lines during his battle against the Balrog are quoted word-for-word by MysteriousFigure when you face him in front of Castle Camelslayer. Prelich even tells him that he and his party are not a Balrog.
  • In the Update, upon level up, one of the things a party member may say is "My pecs have pecs!".
  • One of the minibosses fought is a Noob Psy-Bot.
  • Two of the magic crystals in the "Quest for the Magic Crystals" sidequest are the Crystal of Jolly Co-operation and the Crystal of Git Gud, both of which reference Dark Souls memes.
Crystal of Co-Operation description: Praise the Sun!
