The Producers is a sitcom that aired in 2015 in South Korea. Starring Kim Soo-hyun, Cha Tae-hyun, Gong Hyo-jin and IU, it aired on the KBS network and ran for 12 episodes.

The show focuses on Baek Seung-Chan, a rookie producer who fumbles his way through his first job; Ra Joon-Mo, a jaded veteran PD (producer-director) who doesn't have a hit to his name; Tak Ye-Jin, a veteran PD whose bark is worse than her bite; and Cindy, a haughty Kpop superstar who slowly learns to find herself.

Not to be confused with the 1968 film, The Producers.

This series provides examples of:

  • Break the Cutie: Cindy. Repeatedly. There are fair amount of scenes where Cindy is shown to be crying. Seung-Chan to an extent as well.
  • Butt-Monkey: Because Seung-Chan is the youngest on the team, he gets to do all the grunt work and is a guinea pig as well.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: It's clear to everyone that Joon-Mo has feelings for Ye-Jin, but he's not able to voice them to her.
  • Childhood Friends: Joon-Mo and Ye-Jin who grew up in the same apartment complex, went to college together and now work together.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Over a period of time, Cindy sheds her haughty demeanor and reveals a softer, lonelier side.
  • Married to the Job: Goes with the territory of being a producer-director. Everyone spends nights at the office regularly.
