• YMMV.The Giver: Who was the Giver's spouse? Was she Rosemary's mother, biological or adopted? The Giver mentions offhand that Jonas could look her up but volunteers no information.
• YMMV.The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy: Alongside his Ensemble Dark Horse status, fair amount of fans think Jack O'Lantern should have gotten more appearances than just one in the Halloween Episode, usually with the belief that he had a lot of potential as a character and should've become a semi-occuring villain at the very least.
• YMMV.The Rage Carrie 2: Sue. Not only does her investigation of Rachel's origins have little to do with the rest of the film, she gets unceremoniously killed off as soon as she reaches the action during the climax. Knowing that the film was a Dolled-Up Installment, it's clear that she was shoehorned in during rewrites in order to connect the film to the original.
• YMMV.The Simpsons S 26 E 6 Simpsorama: Out of the Futurama characters, only Fry, Leela, Bender, and Fansworth get a decent amount of screentime, with the latter two being the only ones who are vital to the plot.
• YMMV.The Simpsons S 2 E 17 Old Money: Beatrice could have been a good step-grandmother to Bart and Lisa, and a good step-mother to Homer. Sadly, she passed away in her first appearance.
• YMMV.The Transformers Power Of The Primes: Volcanicus. After fighting our heroes in the swamp, only Grimlock joins the team and the combiner is never formed again. This could extend to the other Dinobots too.

  • Mettaton has a form you can only see in a No Mercy run, Mettaton NEO, that comes complete with its own theme tune. He still dies in a single hit, just like most of the other bosses in a No Mercy run. Even Toriel and Papyrus got memorable Player Punch death scenes; Mettaton NEO just makes a silly comment about you not wanting to join his "fan club" and then explodes.
  • A lot of fans would have liked to see Muffet's character explored in more detail. More than a few fans have argued that her design and concept alone would have been enough to warrant a larger role in the story. Considering that she's a backer character, her lack of presence is justified, at least.^note Of note is that, for the uninitiated, almost everything about Muffet points to her being one of the main characters. Her existence is properly foreshadowed (however slightly) through the spider bake sales, she has the kind of appealing design typically reserved for main characters, and she even uses a special SOUL color in her battle—which, again, is otherwise something that only happens in the boss fights of major characters. So of course she promptly vanishes after the battle and, unless you backtrack, is never seen or heard from again.
  • Dr. W. D. Gaster. Everything about him (role, fate, relationship with Sans) sounds really fascinating, but you will only get to find about all of this by searching Dummied Out content. Then again, this seems to be the whole point of his character and a possible Sequel Hook.
    • As of the 1.01 patch, Gaster is no longer Dummied Out and both his followers and "mysteryman" have a small probability of appearing in any given playthrough.
• YMMV.Wandering Pilot: Lana is Demoted to Extra in this story, and neither he nor either of his parents are even mentioned after the time-skip. Meeting him as a teenager sometime during the Rebellion arc would have certainly been interesting.
• YMMV.When Supernatural Battles Become Commonplace Mirei. Cute, funny, refreshingly straightforward about her feelings, and has a very interesting power, yet she's had almost no presence past her Day in the Limelight episode.

• YMMV.Time Of Eve: Akiko, the sweet and friendly girl Rikuo and Masaki befriend when they first visit the cafe and is an android. It's even shown she belongs to one of their classmates. Instead of focusing on her life outside the cafe or how they feel about her mistreatment from someone they may or may not know, she's a supporting character as the movie focuses on them and the other patrons. There's even a moment where she tries to get involved when the two get to know two other patrons but is stopped.

• YMMV.Mario Kart 7 (Waluigi has an associated course and appears only as a cameo. Fits better under What Could Have Been, since he was excluded due to development constraints.)

• YMMV.Stitch Documents fan complaints about changes in characterization from main source canon. It does try to be neutral.
• YMMV.The Star Wars Holiday Special: Ackmena, Bea Arthur's character, is considered to be the most interesting character created for the special. While she doesn't appear for very long, the Expanded Universe (both before and after Disney acquired Lucasfilm) took her along for the ride.

• YMMV.Let The Galaxy Burn Massive screed of "underused character" mixed with shades of "X should have been like this" all by a single troper. Even if all instances are valid, needs cleanup for brevity.
• YMMV.Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 one underused character, one complaining about plotholes in character integration into the storyline
• Walking with Dinosaurs: The Steropodon from "Spirits of the Ice Forest". It might have been interesting to see a Mesozoic, maybe land-dwelling, toothy relative of the platypus animated. This would have been an opportunity to namecheck monotremes (or platypi) and reference that mammals are diversifying in spite of the dinosaurs; mammals don't appear otherwise but in the last episode set in the literal last days of the dinosaurs. Finally, male platypi have venomous spurs in their feet that are believed to have been a basal condition in mammals, so the Steropodon could have used these to defend itself from a predator attack. • YMMV.Terror In Resonance: Lisa is a major character who is implied to have divorced parents and eventually ran away from home...and then it was never explored again, not even in the ending was her whole family situation brought up, so there's no confirmation if she went back to her mother or started living independently. 'More What Happened to the Mouse? combined with They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot?
• YMMV.What Happened To Monday Saturday, Wednesday and especially Friday. could have added to the story by surviving it. Interpreting "Wasted" as "killed off?"
