Wicks that leads to this trope are highlighted in bold.
Correct Use (Revolver is better than regular gun) (12/54) 22.2%
- VideoGame.Wolf Team: Press a button to throw away your Main gun. Useful for picking up the enemy's gun or showing how badass you are with the DE-50 or the EM-500. Try throwing away your awesome assault rifle before the start of a round, and watch the subsequent pile of weapons build up as everyone prepares to pick it up at the start.
- Main.Little Useless Gun: In Borderlands almost every repeater pistol certainly fits this, doing pitiful damage compared to your average revolver, which the wiki refers to as "a hybrid of pistols and sniper rifles". Repeaters that deal good damage are very rare and often unique.
- VideoGame.Contagion Monochrome: The .357 Magnum Revolver (renamed to the Arlene in the 2020 update) has about 3 times the stopping power of the 9mm SIG pistol and can kill a survivor with 2 shots to the chest, but ammo for it is rare and you can't carry much.
- Characters.Stranger Things Main Cast: Uses one, in contrast to the Hawkins Lab agents who favor semi-automatics. Justified since he's a small town police chief and they're well-funded government agents. Given his suggested experience in the Vietnam War, and automatic handguns of that period's propensity for jamming, his choice may be justified as a sidearm. This is also Truth in Television as revolvers were standard police issue until the mid-nineties. For example, the NYPD didn't stop issuing them until 1993. It is highly unlikely that a small-town Indiana police department would have had the resources in 1984 to issue automatic pistols which were very expensive in those days.
- VideoGame.Fallout 3: Averted with the .32 pistol, a revolver that is actually one of the weakest guns in the game. The Scoped .44 Magnum on the other hand is among the best of the available pistols offset by its terrible item health; every shot visibly degrades it. Then there's the PC cheat-only .44 Magnum, which will destroy anything in one shot. Raiders, mutants, robots, buses, vertibirds...
- Video Game.Fortnite: The Six Shooter introduced in Season 6. Despite just a 6-round load, the accuracy, speedy reload and fantastic rate of fire during normal use (literally shoot-from-the-hip fan-fire) make it a handy-dandy weapon.
- Toys.Nerf Brand:
- Also the Spectre REV-5, which holds one dart less then the Maverick but is more reliable and powerful. And it also has a silencer as well as a foldable stock.
- The 2012 Dart Tag Swarmfire, Speedfire, and Snapfire 8 are revolvers of a sort. Swarmfire holds 20 darts, Speedswarm 10, and while these larger revolvers are motorized, the Snapfire 8 is a variable-pressure double-action with a dial at the base of the handle to adjust the tension of the plunger.
- The Strongarm, being the successor to the Maverick, takes the revolver design of its predecessor and adds increased range and slam-fire capability.
- Characters.Azure Striker Gunvolt Heroes And Allies: Has a revolver, it belonged to his father and is named "Border" ("Voder" in 8-4's translation of GV 2). It can shoot normal bullets and power nullifying Greed Snatcher shots. Depending on your ammo for Dart Leader, you can Shoot the Bullet for his regular shots. In the second game, it's upgraded to shoot lasers.
- Borderlands2.Tropes O To Z: Toned down from the original Borderlands; revolvers no longer use different ammunition from ordinary handguns. Also, 4/7 of guns do not use revolver technology like in the original, now it's more like 4/25 of all guns, and both are viable now. In Borderlands 2, revolvers rely on high damage per shot while ordinary pistols have larger magazines, though not to the absurd degree of the last game where every automatic was a Little Useless Gun. And, as everyone expected, considering that Jakobs is continuing their line of revolving rifles and all their revolvers are Hand Cannons, they are is most definitely an example. Torgue now makes 'em too, and uses their patented Gyrojet tech to make them missile-launching revolvers. Meanwhile, Maliwan makes elemental revolvers with high elemental damage and slow fire rate, but are still very useful.
- Revolvers, however, are still carried by many players due to them being accurate and powerful enough to be better primary weapons than submachine guns, shotguns or even assault rifles.
- VideoGame.Orion Prelude: The revolver deals the most damage out of any pistol in the game.
- TabletopGame.Unknown Armies: Averted. Revolvers have all the flaws they do in real life (low ammunition capacity, bulk, and etc.), making pistols and, for that matter, automatic weapons far more useful. Entropomancers love revolvers though. To their minds, what good is owning a gun if you can't play Russian Roulette with it?
- VideoGame.Strike Force Heroes: One of the Medic's primary weapons is the revolvers. Which tend to be more powerful and accurate than his assault rifles, but smaller clip size and slower rate of fire. The General from the second game one-up this by dual-wielding revolvers. The Gunslinger and of the 3rd game

- Characters.Kitsune No Ken Fist Of The Fox LOVE Syndicate: He packs a Smith and Wesson 460 revolver.
- Series.NYPD Blue: Sipowicz carries his Smith & Wesson Model 36 throughout the series, befitting an old-school detective. Zig-zagged for Medavoy, who switches to the semi-auto Glock after he fumbles reloading and blames himself for letting the perps who shot James Martinez get away.
- Main.Little Useless Gun: Another story from Georgia included an inversion of this trope; several county officers were chasing an armed robbery suspect and got into a gunfight, before the suspect, realizing he was outnumbered, turned to flee. The officers fired another shot or two from their .44 Magnum revolvers before realizing he was running and gave chase, eventually catching him and hauling him back to the station. While they were processing him, they noticed he was shifting uncomfortably and, upon inquiry, the suspect admitted to having intense pain in his buttocks that had started during the chase and only gotten worse. Suspecting that he had been stung by a wasp or had pulled something during his flight from the officers, they conducted a medical inspection...and found that the suspect was bleeding from a .44 magnum slug wedged in his left (lower) cheek. After getting the man medical attention from the apparently true shot, they began to consider the implications, realizing with no small amount of horror that what this man thought was a bee sting or pulled muscle was one of their bullets, meaning it had utterly failed to work as advertised, and as such uncovered the abysmal reliability of the .44 ammunition they used. Fortunately, this was in The '90s, when many other police departments were switching to more reliable automatic pistols, and this department quickly followed suit.
- VideoGameCrueltyPotential.First Person Shooter: Speaking of killing scientists, there's a Brutal Doom-inspired modification called Brutal Half-Life that ramps up the level of violence. You can blow up anyone's heads off, or tear them apart with your MP5 or Opposing Force's M249 SAW, or kick them until they explode! Not only that, but you can also destroy the Headcrab Zombie's arms off with a Colt Python and watch the bastard trying to attack you but to no avail.
- Characters.Siren 1: Except for his last mission, he always carries a revolver.
- Characters.Borderlands The Pre Sequel Vault Hunters: She heavily agrees with this trope-she starts off (if you have a B2 save file) with a Jakobs iron and a Masher revolver, plus she's shown wielding Jakobs Irons in all promotional material. However, she uses an incendiary Maliwan revolver with a Tediore grip in Borderlands 2, that also fires flares.

- Characters.Devil Beater: Shuu's weapons of choice are dual revolvers.
- VideoGame.Sir You Are Being Hunted: Squire: Huge and dressed in the clothing of the English gentry, the Squire hangs about towns singing music hall pieces. Unlike other robots, the Squire doesn't attack the Player on sight and may even fight off other robots for you. However, if you get caught looting or start a fight with other robots while in his village, you'll be at the business end of his revolver.
- Film.Looper: This is Kid Blue's claim; while the Loopers do the grunt work of killing targets and use crude blunderbusses, the elite Gat Men carry long-barreled, large-caliber revolvers. However, when Old Joe gets his hands on some automatic weaponry, he is able to massacre dozens of the Gat Men with relative ease.
- Characters. The Lamplighters League: It may be the 1930s, but Eddie has more than a few bits of classic Cowboy in his design. A Texas native who gets on well with most of the other Agents, his weapons of choice are a pair of six-shooters and his skills tree invokes quick draws, trick shots and fanning the hammer.
- Characters.RPG Stuck: Played with. Her main Strife Specibus is a fire poker. However, her secondary is a revolver.
- Characters.Rise Of The Tomb Raider: At one point she's shot in the shoulder by Lara, with a gun that - depending on what DLCs are installed - might well be a magnum revolver or even a huge .50 AE Desert Eagle Expy. All she does is grunt a bit and fall down when the bullet hits her. A few seconds later she's already back up and yelling at Lara like nothing happened.

- Characters. My Hero Academia League Of Villains: Wields a .38 revolver for self-defense against people that can avoid breathing his gas.
- Characters.Fallout New Vegas Companions: Can equip revolvers and lever-action rifles, typical cowboy/vaquero weapons.
- Main.Revolvers Are Just Better: Apparently, George S. Patton believed that Revolvers Are Just Better, for he has been described as carrying a pair of ivory-handled (not pearl, ivory. Patton hated it when people referred to his guns as pearl handled) revolvers. One being a Colt Single Action Army "Peacemaker" (that he used to kill two high-ranking subordinates of Pancho Villa) the other being a Smith & Wesson Model 27 (the original .357 Magnum) that he called his "killing gun". Though he also had a pair of semi-auto pocket pistols as backup guns. Patton was Crazy-Prepared and always armed.

- Toys.Nerf Brand:
- The Firefly REV-8, which is an 8-dart bullpup style revolver with glowing darts. It basically uses a camera strobe to flash-charge the darts, too.
- The Hammershot and Sweet Revenge are twin 5 dart revolvers that use the same basic design, being able to use a hammer to prime the blaster one-handed and even fan them like real single-action revolvers, but offer different aesthetics in the Zombie Strike and Rebelle lines, respectively.
- The CycloneShock takes the Maverick's design and makes it even BIGGER. It fires the Centurion and Magnus' MEGA darts!
- The RotoFury is a giant shotgun like blaster with a cylinder for ten MEGA darts.
- The Zombie Strike FlipFury is essentially a Strongarm with two cylinders that can be cycled with a secondary trigger.
- The Zombie Strike Doominator takes the FlipFury concept up to eleven with four six-dart cylinders that requires a two-finger secondary trigger just to switch cylinders.
- Film.Oblivion 1994: Well, this is a Western...
- Literature. The Thief Lord: Victor seems to think so.

- The Barricade REV-10 is a semi-automatic 10-shooter. It produces an amazing Ominous Hummmm while switched on.
- Now the Stockade, which uses faster and quieter flywheels and adds a stock that can hold 10 extra darts.
- There is also the classic Dart Tag Furyfire Blaster, a pump-action 10-shooter.
- VideoGame.World Of Horror: The characters can secure a revolver if you get the right event while investigating or as a specific enemy drop. Downplayed, however, in that it deals less damage than the rifles and the shotgun, and it's rapid attack speed isn't very useful due to the scarcity of ammo. note
- Main.Maximum HP Reduction: A plot event that helps decide what ending you get in the final hours of Cry of Fear results in Simon's health bar being permanently cut down after the Doctor shoots him in the shoulder. How much it gets cut down depends on whether Simon trusts the Doctor enough to give him a gun found elsewhere in the asylum; the Doctor already has a revolver, but the gun he wants Simon to get for him is a little more powerful.
- Characters.RWBY Team RWBY: Although her weapon is a sword, it has a revolver-like mechanism in the guard that allows it to switch between different types of Dust.
