Makers

A general term for characters who represent video game companies.

    General Tropes
  • Badass Normal: Would be considered super human in any other series. But due to the existence of the CPUs their feats aren't quite as impressive. Still doesn't reduce their awesomeness though.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Some of the Makers have matching hair and eye colors. Specifically Nisa (dark blue), Compa (light orange pink), MarvelousAQL (orange), MAGES. (blue), Tamsoft (also dark blue), and Segami (blue, though it's downplayed as her hair is a different shade of blue)
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Makers are added and removed partly based on the existence of the companies they represent. Nisa in particular was written out because NIS and Compile Heart broke ties. IF and Compa are likely immune to this because they represent the franchise's own producers.
  • Moe Anthropomorphism: Of gaming companies. In the cases of Tekken, God Eater, Million Arthur and Higurashi; they personify video game franchises.
  • So Last Season: By VII, Makers have largely been fazed out by the Gold Third, who have a similar character concept but packs a Super Mode akin the the goddesses. As a result, most of them have disappeared. IF and Compa remain as the only Makers in Gamindustri, due to Grandfather Clause, having a more versatile skill set, and personifying the series' actual creators. Game Maker even treats the Gold Third as Makers in story, simply giving them the additional title for their role in the world and power being on the same level as the Goddesses, driving home the point that they're just "Makers, but stronger".
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Since Gust, Nisa, 5pb. and RED are not in Re;Birth1, they are replaced by Makers who appeared in Victory. Token Mini-Moe Broccoli replaces Token Mini-Moe Gust, Ninja MarvelousAQL replaces Ninja Nisa, MAGES. replaces her older sister 5pb., and redhead Falcom replaces redhead RED.

Main Makers

    General Tropes
  • Author Avatar: Compa and IF are named after the developers of the games, Compile Heart and Idea Factory.
  • Characterization Marches On:
    • IF was noticably more rude and hostile in the first game, going through a Took a Level in Kindness Character Development arc throughout the game, instead of the otherwise friendly Deadpan Snarker Only Sane Man she would become. She also shows no sign of her later Chuunibyou tendencies. She was initially reluctant to join the party, too, at first only being a part of it because you aren't allowed to leave one.
    • Compa is merely naïve with occasional bouts of wisdom and even a few Little Miss Snarker moments, instead of the ditzy Nice Girl All-Loving Hero she would become. She also has a tendency to bring up her grandpa, who is never mentioned again in later games.
  • Demoted to Extra:
    • Both the Hyper Dimension versions of IF and Compa are sidelined throughout Victory, being replaced with their Ultra Dimension counterparts, and even then, they don't add much to the story aside from serving as Plutia and Neptune's adopted children; meanwhile Ultra IF is a Designated Victim who gets kidnapped by Arfoire twice throughout the game. In fact, the only way to make them playable is through DLC.
    • They're also given this treatment in Sisters, especially Compa, whose only contributions to the game is to provide a not-at-all subtle rant on the COVID-19 Pandemic and the conspiracy theories that come with it (e.g. vaccines actually being nano-chips used to mind control people with 500G radio waves), and being used as a vessel for Arfoire to trick the group into giving her information on the IS Crystal. They're also not playable in this game either, DLC or not.
  • Punny Name: IF is an acronym of Idea Factory, whole Compa short for Compile Heart.
  • Self-Deprecation: They are the weakest and least versatile characters in the first game. They don't even get any sort of Limit Break, something even the DLC characters were given. Averted in the reboot where they get some new Limit Breaks and a Combination Attack with each other.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: IF is a guild member with an arsenal of melee weapons, and has the personality of a sharp-tongued, mostly blasé girl, making her the Tomboy. Compa on the other hand is a Combat Medic at Planeptune's local hospital, and has the personality of a ditzy, but caring girl, making her the Girly Girl.

    IF

IF

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/if_v2.png

Voiced by: Kana Ueda (Japanese), Kate Higgins (English, games), Megan Shipman (English, anime)

A member of Planeptune's Guild, and one of Neptune's closest friends alongside Compa.

General Tropes:

Super Dimension IF (Hyperdimension Neptunia/Re;Birth1/reVerse)

  • A-Cup Angst: In Chapter 4, she and Neptune are dismissed by Older and Younger brother due to their small busts, preferring the bustier Vert and Compa. Neptune, in attempt to win their attention, betrays IF and transforms to gain their favor. IF then gets apathetic and grim about her small chest, to the point of calling Vert Thunder Tits. Luckily, Vert manages to cheer her up.
  • All Periods Are PMS: Assumes Arfoire is menstruating the first time they fight.
  • Bishie Sparkle: When she gets too passionate about something. Prime examples are when she's fighting the Fake Purple Hearts, seeing them as a way to finally vent her Neptune-induced stress, and when Vert breaks her out of her A-Cup Angst by listing all the qualities that make her Vert's precious Iffy.
  • Broken Pedestal: Played for Laughs. Her image of Vert takes a battering when she finds out what she's really like. Unlike Ganache and his worshipping of White Heart, though, IF still admires Vert as much as she did before. Vert also doesn't seem to have a problem with that.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: IF does this to Arfoire late in the game, after she has stolen or copied all of the goddess's powers, and brought Momus to life. This distraction gives enough time for Compa to sneak towards her and steal the tome Arfoire was carrying which contained Histoire.
  • Fangirl: This IF is fervently devoted to Vert.
  • Fighting for a Homeland: Despite following Purple Heart, IF isn't a citizen of any land. Yvoire makes her seriously consider poisoning Neptune by offering her citizenship in Leanbox.
  • Knowledge Broker: If the party is lost as to where to go next, expect IF to break out one of her phones to get in contact with her information network so they can know where to go next.
  • Marshmallow Hell: Vert to IF, twice. The first time gets its own CG image as she hugs her during a chapter break. The second time, Vert takes advantage of a cramped space to deliberately smother IF in her chest. IF spends the rest of the scene with a dopey expression and lovehearts pouring out of her head.

Hyper Dimension IF (mk2/Re;Birth2, VII/VIIR, Sisters)

  • Boke and Tsukkomi Routine: Mostly in tsukkomi part. She laments that two Neptunes are too much for her.
  • Covert Pervert: She gets distracted by Steamax's porn mags despite berating Purple Heart for looking at them a few seconds earlier.
  • Face Palm: Occasionally in mk2, she palms her in annoyance whenever something stupid happens or another character does or says something stupid.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Thanks to Kurome's memory alteration, every Planeptune citizen forgets Neptune's role as their CPU, and she is no exception, as she treats her like a stranger by calling Neptune "a kid". Thankfully, this effect doesn't last for long after Neptune rescues her from Arfoire, and she suddenly remembers the former.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: In mk2, the Guild's primary activities are, as Nepgear quickly points out, "pretty wicked". It's okay, though, because lately they've chosen to target criminal syndicates instead.
IF: Espionage, generally. Acquire confidential intelligence from other nations, spread misinformation to stir up politicians, or sometimes...
Nepgear: That all sounds pretty wicked.
IF: Don't get the wrong idea. We've only handled criminal syndicates lately.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: Despite not being a teenager, IF adores her smartphones, to the extent of becoming anxious if she loses one. One optional bonding scene in Re;Birth2 has her drop and break the screen on one, and quickly descend into a blubbering mess. Compa points out that she always does this when her cell phone is taken away before leading her to the cell phone repair shop.
  • Undying Loyalty: Even when she can't remember Neptune after the Cosmic Retcon in VII, she refuses to submit to Arfoire because she vaguely remembers promising someone that she'd protect Planeptune.

Ultra Dimension IF (Victory/Re;Birth3)

  • Badass Adorable: Her 6-years old self is playable in Re:Birth 3, and she has better starting equipment, better combo, better support skills than her adult counterpart. Her EXE Drive has the highest damage among all EXE Drives.
  • Call-Back: Despite being Demoted to Extra, once the two Gamindustris start to destroy each other, she quickly takes charge instructing the four Planeptune CPUs on what they're going to need to do to mitigate the damage and protect people.
  • Child Prodigy: While all the babies were able to speak and hold conversation as babies, IF is the smartest of the three, and at the age of five, seemed to be drawing manga and could use words and phrases like "eviscerate" and "time immemorial". She also apparently knows about demons from the Ars Goetia.
  • Designated Victim: IF gets kidnapped three times in this game, each time by Arfoire.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She starts sharing Neptune's dislike of eggplants after Arfoire force-feeds her a number of the vegetable.
  • Harmful to Minors: Her first introduction to Iris Heart has IF witness her subject Arfoire to Cold-Blooded Torture. This completely freaks her out, resulting in her irises becoming bigger and her face becoming blue. When Iris Heart finally finishes and tries to talk with IF her eyes go white, lets out a single "no" before breaking down crying. Compa, who was fortunate enough to not witness it, was immediately worried by the drastic change in IF's personality.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: During an event with her, Neptune, and CyberConnect2 she successfully bluffs to Neptune that she'll reveal Neptune's darkest secrets if she doesn't buy her something, despite being sure that Neptune has no secrets. A later event with her and MAGES. shows that despite being a child she has connections to the same group as her and is also aware of the Organization.
  • Yuri Fan: As an infant no less. When Neptune and Nepgear are (platonically) proclaiming their love for another, IF's reaction is: "...Dis is hawt!"

Spin-offs and Other Media:

  • And the Adventure Continues: In the positive endings of Superdimension Neptune, IF leaves the library to explore the world some more after defeating the Time Eater.
  • Berserk Button: Do not damage or tamper with her bike. When finding out that Histoire has modified her bike, she flips out, at one point even saying the (albeit bleeped out) f-word in the English dub.
"WHAT?! WHAT THE HELL?! WHO GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO MODIFY MY @%#*$ BIKE?!"
  • Cutscene Power to the Max: Subverted in Superdimension Neptune. Her Flame Awakening is NEVER shown in any cutscenes; it's only ever used in gameplay.
  • The Hero: She plays as this instead of Neptune in Superdimension Neptune.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In one of the rare moments IF truly snaps is when her bike gets modified without her knowing, much to the shock of everyone who is used to seeing her annoyed at her worst.

    Compa

Compa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/compa_v2.png

Voiced by: Kanako Sakai (Japanese), Cristina Valenzuela (English)

A ditzy nurse, and one of Neptune's closest friends alongside IF.

General Tropes:

  • Captain Obvious: Now and then Compa will exclaim "I don't like getting hurt!" upon damage.
  • Combat Medic: As a nurse, she's a natural healer character, with most of her abilities restoring health or curing status conditions.
  • The Ditz: She generally comes off as incredibly clumsy and not all that bright.
  • Hospital Hottie: She's the local nurse at Planeptune, though her personality emphasises cuteness more than hotness.
  • Nice Girl: One of the nicest characters in the series. She is an All-Loving Heroine who unconditionally loves her friends, especially Neptune and IF, and is a kind-hearted Combat Medic who takes care of her patients. It helps that she's one of the few characters to grab a Jerkass Ball or lose her cool, at worst she becomes slightly annoyed.
  • Playing with Syringes: Her weapon is a giant syringe, used for stabbing enemies and injecting liquids.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Her strawberry-blonde hair is described as pink, and she's a Nice Girl.
  • Verbal Tic: "Desu" in the Japanese script. Almost completely absent in the translation, although she keeps the EX Finisher "Desu Desu Desu!" and will frequently yell out "Desu" upon jumping in the field when assigned as leader.

Super Dimension Compa (Hyperdimension Neptunia/Re;Birth1/reVerse)

  • Genius Ditz: As said in her description, she nearly reaches Neptune levels of ditziness, yet she came up with the idea of making an Antidote Pudding for Neptune as a sure-fire way to give the antidote to her. And she also managed to successfully sneak on Arfoire to snatch Histoire from her hands.
  • The Kid with the Remote Control: 90% of the time Neptune transforms, it's because Compa asked.
  • My Greatest Failure: When asked to help make the antidote for Neptune, Compa doesn't think she can help because she failed nursing school and doesn't think she could do something so important.

Hyper Dimension Compa (mk2/Re;Birth2, VII/VIIR, Sisters)

Ultra Dimension Compa (Victory/Re;Birth3)

  • Badass Adorable: Her 6-years old self is playable in Re:Birth 3. While she has weaker healing skills, she has better offense and EXE Drive than her adult counterpart.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: While almost everyone is terrified of Iris Heart, Compa admits to finding her to be pretty cool.

Spin-offs and Other Media:

  • Beware the Nice Ones: In Action Unleashed, Warechu learns the hard way when it comes to going just a little too far with Compa. Even her signature "desu" is turned into an endless chant of die.

Debuted in Hyperdimension Neptunia

    Gust

Gust

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Gust_7384.jpg

Voiced by: Natsuko Kuwatani (Japanese), Cassandra Lee Morris (English)

Gust is an alchemist hailing from the land of Salburg. She has a trunk of alchemy she carries on her pocket, which she occasionally uses to help others, even though they never work out for her. While she appears innocent and is ultimately a good person, she's a con artist who sells people out of their money while taking a quick from them. She originated as a mascot for her namesake company.

  • Actor Allusion: Her Verbal Tic in the Japanese dub, "desu-no"", is the same as Suiseiseki, another Natsuko Kuwatani character.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: For some as innocent as her, she will secretly take advantage of people trying to do so to her, while also setting up legal ownership of concepts and items so that even if they catch on, she can sue them into oblivion if they try anything. Case in point, she blackmails Vert about staying silent on her "Kichiku Megane Harlem Set for Virgins", especially to keep that info from IF as Vert fears that she would become incredibly disappointed with her. She also sells Vert a voucher to play an MMO for free, for 10,000 Credits. She was surprised Vert jumped immediately at the offer, though, thinking it was a steal.
  • Child Mage: She's young enough to be considered a lost child and is usually equipped with potions (as seen in her portrait) that she uses in battle.
  • Game-Breaking Bug: Her revival skills have been known to not work right and just heal her, considerably lowering her use in battle.
  • Optional Party Member: Both Nisa and Gust are, and with some DLC, they can become playable as well. Later on, 5pb and RED are also playable.
  • The Smart Girl: She's one of the more intelligent members of the group.
  • Third-Person Person: She speaks this way in the English dub. Every one of her sentences began with her saying her name when addressing herself.
  • Token Evil Teammate: While she's not evil per-say, she's quite greedy and has a tendency to blackmail and scam people.
  • Token Mini-Moe: One of the smallest members of Neptune's party.
  • Transplanted Character Fic: Whereas every other Maker was created for this franchise, Gust (known then as Gust-chan) began as the mascot for Gust's online store back in 2000, predating the Neptunia series by a decade.
  • Verbal Tic: In the Japanese version of the game, Gust says desu-no at the end of her sentences.
  • You No Take Candle: In the English dub, she doesn't have the best grasp on grammar.

    Nisa

Nisa/Nippon Ichi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Nisa_4512.jpg

Voiced by: Kaori Mizuhashi (Japanese), Michelle Ruff (English)

As the self-proclaimed "heroine of justice", Nisa strives to protect the citizens of Gamindustri from any threats that come her way, from crooks to rampaging monsters. She's very friendly too, helping out others in the most darkest of moments; however that friendly facade cracks rather easily when her washboard of a chest is brought up in a negative light.

    5pb.

5pb./Lyrica

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5pb_597.jpg

Voiced by: nao (Japanese), Mela Lee (English, first game), Julie Ann Taylor (English, mk2 onwards), Caitlin Glass (English, anime)

A renowned Idol Singer and the host of Hi-Five Radio. 5pb., at first glance, is a confident young girl who loves being in the center of attention. She has an enormous fan following who cheers every time she grabs a microphone, and a track load of records and singles produced and released yearly. When she isn't on the stage, however, she becomes an entirely different person: a shy, introverted girl who isn't good with interacting with others and only sings in private. Her real name is Lyrica.

    RED

RED

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/RED_Neptunia_9741.jpg

Voiced by: Kanae Itō (Japanese), Carrie Keranen (English)

A strange, young-looking but very shapely girl with a dragon motif who is first introduced landing on an unexpected IF. Her primary goal in life is to collect all of the girls, or 'wifeys' as she calls, in Gamindustri.

  • Airplane Arms: Runs with her arms stretched out.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: At "+100 Charisma", she'll get to have her "Hotel Event" with IF. The event she gets is being stuck sick in bed, while IF waits around for her to get better before joining the party.
  • Brick Joke: Delivers one from Gust and her own at the same time. She eats IF's blanc-manger, and later sends her Blanc's Manju. After joining the team she gives IF a "Kichiku Megane Harlem Set for Virgins" because she notices that IF likes Vert and that Vert has one as well. After a brief moment of disappointment she just passes it off as RED mixing names up again.
  • Crash-Into Hello: Her first introduction to IF.
  • Harem Seeker: She wants wifeys. IF is Wifey Number 1.
  • Genki Girl: In almost all of the scenes she appears in she tends to act like this.
  • Genre Savvy: The game makes no attempt to hide that it's a game, so what's the best way to get wifeys? Add Relationship Values to the events she's involved in, bringing up the possibilities of both You Lose at Zero Trust and Level-Up at Intimacy 5. It mostly works, she just doesn't get her "Hotel Event" with IF in the way she hoped.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Yo-yos. Because there are legends of a hero who fought off aliens with one.
  • Meaningful Name: Not only does her name came from the company she is based off of, Red Entertainment, but Word of God has also confirmed that her name is an acronym: The R in the start of her name is a reference to the color of her hair that is in the shape of the letter R. The E in the middle of her name is a reference to her cup size (E-cup). And the D at the end of name is a reference to the fact that she has a dragon. She also refers to herself as the Royal Emperor Dragon when joining the party.
  • Optional Party Member: Only appears in the game if you've got the required DLC.
  • Sixth Ranger: Alongside 5pb., she is one of the DLC characters you can choose for battle.
  • Toilet Humor:
    • In one of her events, "Red Alert", RED gets chased by an upset Lady White Heart for farting loudly in front of her.
Red: "Phew! I think I lost her... Lady White Heart's good at chasing people! She didn't have to get so upset... I know it was like a grenade explosion, but I'm just a human. Everyone cuts a fart once in a while. Plus, the louder it is, the less smell it has. So they say. Anyway, that one was really sound-barrier shatteringly loud. ...She'll get over it soon."
    • She also (loudly) asks if Nepgear needs to pee when the gang is in Lowee in Re;birth2.
Red: What's up? Oh, I bet it's tinkle time, isn't it? The cold makes me pee a lot, too, so go for it!

    Cave

Cave

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cave.png

Voiced by: Mayuko Takahashi (Japanese), Lauren Landa (English)

A cool, calm and collected girl that rescues the party from a Uriah Gambit set off by Underling, who disguised herself as Leanbox's Oracle. She is a member of Leanbox's SMD organization.

  • Badass Finger Snap: Her final move on her Limit Break.
  • Bee Afraid: Her 'Black Label' skill sometimes has her summoning a pair of mechanical bees to pelt the enemy some more after her initial barrage. No points for guessing what game this references.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Saves Nepgear after she went overconfident that she could take on a monster by herself.
  • Bullet Hell: Her Limit Break where enemies are on the receiving end of it.
  • Casting Gag: In the English dub, she is voiced by Lauren Landa, who voices Kyouko Sakura from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, both of who have a implied crush on a blue haired girl (Sayaka and 5pb.) and can be very hammy (though Cave is a lot more calmer).
  • Cleavage Window: The neckline on her dress lays her breasts bare.
  • Game-Breaking Bug: None of her equipment from the store is kept in your inventory in a New Game Plus, meaning you're going to be spending a large amount of credits to keep her geared through each playthrough if you intend to use her. You can get around this annoyance, somewhat, by using her DLC equipment instead.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Has small pigtails and has a personality of a proper, if blunt, lady.
  • Large Ham: Somehow her determined walk, her flinging of her hair, and her Limit Break must be done with such ham for someone who's quiet.
  • Mythology Gag: The other characters think that she must deal with Crowd Hell pretty often to be able to move so effortlessly through a crowd without touching anyone.
  • Optional Party Member: Through DLC.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Zig-Zagged. Despite having red as her theme, she is mostly the collected and reserved Blue Oni to 5pb.'s Hot-Blooded Red Oni; this only applies when 5pb. is on-stage, though, as 5pb. is an introvert when off-stage, while Cave is sometimes a Large Ham.
  • Showgirl Skirt: Wears a dress that is short on the front, but long in the back.
  • Spectacular Spinning: Her EXE Drive, Black Label, involves her spinning a barrage of danmakus. Twice.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Her Black Label Finishing Move has her doing this twice. The first after her Badass Fingersnap; the second after she uses robotic bees as a Wave-Motion Gun. The result has the enemy blowing up to smithereens.

    Falcom

Falcom

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/falcom_8.png
Ultra Dimension Falcom

Voiced by: Akemi Kanda (Japanese), Xanthe Huynh (English)

A humble adventurer that has seen her fair share of travels, which she's wrote about in her novels. Wielding her Dragonslayer, she's always willing to help out anyone in need. Represents the company of her namesake along with its most famous properties. She has a counterpart in the Ultra Dimension, who is an adventuring swordswoman.

General Tropes:

  • Action Girl: A noted adventuress who's more than happy to fight monsters.
  • Actor Allusion: Her Japanese voice actress voices Estelle Bright, the heroine of another famous Falcom franchise.
  • BFS: All of her weapons are different kinds of dragonslayers.
  • Hero of Another Story: Makes frequent illusions to many past adventures she's had, along with her tendency to show up in places where her sword would be helpful to the party with little explanation. Her Ultra Dimension self is an adventurist who even has her own written books based on her adventures.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: She uses BFSs that slay dragons.
  • Humble Heroine: Despite her accomplishments as a seasoned heroine, she's nothing but humble to Nepgear and her friends.
  • Nice Girl: Nothing but kind to those she meets.
  • Shout-Out: Her Hyper and Ultra Dimension selves are based on Adol from Ys, both being brave and helpful heroes who have red as their Color Motif.

Hyper Dimension Falcom (mk2/Re;Birth2, Victory/Re;Birth3)

Ultra Dimension Falcom (Victory/Re;Birth3, Re;Birth1)

1st Gen Compa, Deco, and Furapura

1st Gen Compa, Deco, and Furapura

A trio of Posthumous Characters based on now-defunct companies. They all reside in the Gamindustri Graveyard as their resting place.

Debuted in Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory

    Broccoli

Broccoli

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/broccoli_1.png

Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro (Japanese), Karen Strassman (English)

A resident Maker in the Ultra Dimension, Broccoli is a tiny, adorable but sharp-tongued girl with a cat motif; who insists that she's not, in any way, related to Puchiko. She also has a Hyper Dimension counterpart introduced in the Re;Birth trilogy.

    MAGES.

MAGES.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mages_3.png

Voiced by: Kaori Furukawa (Japanese), Amanda Céline Miller (English)

A mage from the Ultra Dimension who pops up mysteriously several times during the quest. She's experienced with both science and magic, which she refers the two, when combined, as "science magic". She's a chuunibyou, so she has a habit of saying weird things and making flashy poses. She is the cousin of 5pb.

  • Big Damn Heroes: In Re;Birth1, when the party chases Ganache to a factory in Lastation, after losing the first Killachine he reveals there are 3 more where that one came from, and when it seems like this is it for the party, MAGES. comes from out of nowhere and takes out all 3 of them by destroying their insides with magic.
  • Black Magician Girl: A very offensive mage type character.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Loochs tneve emag noitamina cisum".
  • Contralto of Strength: Her voice is much deeper than of the Makers and she kicks major asses.
  • Chuunibyou: In the Japanese dialogue during the Lastation Tech Expo, Noire outright accuses her of such.note
  • Cutscene Power to the Max: MAGES. destroys an entire production line of machines easily before joining the party to fight one more. While her magic does melt its armor easily, it's not the carnage that was heard off-screen when she destroyed them from the inside. Immediately lampshaded when she remarks after the battle that her normal techniques are much less efficient.
  • Expy: Is essentially one to Rintarou Okabe.
    • She claims to come from a parallel world, has a love of what's basically Dr. Pepper, and speaks to "an organization" with nonsense code words.
    • She also calls Noire her "assistant." Noire reacts exactly like Makise Kurisu.
    • And on top of that she directly mentions having invented a microwave oven that turns bananas and people into jelly, a fairly blatant reference to Steins;Gate.
    • Her alternate costumes straight-up announce they're based off Steins;Gate characters.
  • The Ghost: MAGES. sometimes mentions that a certain person would might be hurt if said person learns that something bad would happen to Neptune. We don't know who she means, but she might refer to her sister 5pb..
  • Insistent Terminology: She claims that her name is "MAGES. with a period", no exceptions. Which is probably a nod towards the name of studio 5pb., developer of the Science Adventure series/universe in which Steins;Gate takes place.
  • Robe and Wizard Hat: Wears a white coat with a black witch hat.
  • Squishy Wizard: For most of the game, she's the only character who always has access to several elements of magic damage no matter what, but has mediocre HP and physical defense like tissue paper.
  • Vocal Evolution: Her voice becomes deeper during Re:Birth1.

    Tekken

Tekken

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tekken_9.png

Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu (Japanese), Sherry Lynn (English)

A shy martial artist from the Ultra Dimension. She was trained in fighting karate, and is very skilled at what she does in spite of her shyness. She's also a major masochist who secretly gets off being in pain, an open secret by others that she tries to deny it.

  • Badass Adorable: She may be withdrawn, but she can easily pack a punch in gameplay. It helps that she's experienced with martial arts, including karate.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Other than using basic gloves, she fights unarmed. Her "weaponry" equipments are just titles, which means she literally gets stronger when she's holding a higher ranked title.
  • Cute Bruiser: A cute and shy girl who is trained in karate and fighting, and is capable of lifting things bigger than she is despite having little-to-no muscle mass.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her right trouser leg is ridiculously short and she has a bracelet on her right leg.
  • Stripperiffic: Her outfit is based of one of Jin Kazama's costumes, but ironically, she has more clothes on her than him. Her trousers are torn however, revealing her striped panties.
  • Supernatural Martial Arts: Her Fujin and Raijin Fist skills.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: She's a masochist, and when it starts to come up while training with Nepgear the extent to which Tekken enjoys being beaten on disturbs her enough to call it quits and suggest Tekken start training with Plutia instead.
  • Whole Costume Reference: Her outfit is based of Jin Kazama's outfit.

    CyberConnect2

CyberConnect2

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cyberconnect2_4.png

Voiced by: Masumi Asano (Japanese), Dorothy Elias-Fahn (English)

A furry-looking, dagger-wielding girl from the Ultra Dimension, originating from Fukoka. Nicknamed Cybercon in the English dub, she's cheerful and (mostly) laid-back, always looking on the bright sise of things, and helping out others get back on their feet. She's also very loyal to her allies, to the point of flying into a rage when they're threatened. Her motto is "Never despair!".

  • Animal-Eared Headband: A variation. She wears a cat-eared hat.
  • Big Eater: Implied; her character-exclusive events with Blanc and Nepgear (JP version) in Victory has her talking about her favorite foods in different parts of Gamindustri.
  • Dual Wielding: She uses Twin Daggers.
  • Expy: Her design and character is based of Kite from .hack, with the color theme of the company she is based on.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: She wears a pair of them for no apparent reason.
  • It's Personal: She won't hesitate to beat up any foe who attacks her allies, as shown when a monster attempts to attack Noire.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Subverted. The ears and tail are fake.
  • Otaku: Her profile describes her as a vivid fan of manga and video games. Apparently, she's so deep into them that she tries to become a heroine like those in these media. Her profile states that she is more heroic than Neptune herself.
  • Overly Long Name: While in the English dialogues, it's shortened to CC2, she is called by her full name in the Japanese dialogues. Neptune even adds "-chan" to her name.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eyes are naturally green, but can turn red when angered, especially if her friends are threatened or if she takes a nasty beating in combat. She invokes this in the victory scene and it's not a very nice sight. Also invoked in a character-exclusive event with Noire, when she loses herself to rage.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: In-Game with Noire when the party is tracking the Fake Black Heart, which gets lampshaded by Neptune.

    MarvelousAQL

MarvelousAQL

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marvelousaql.png

Voiced by: Hitomi Harada (Japanese), Kira Buckland (English)

A hyperactive ninja from the Ultra Dimension, whose personality is a big as her chest. Hailing from a Ninja academy, she is well-versed in every form of ninjitsu, including those She made up. She was assigned to Planeptune to primarily teach Neptune what being a ninja is like.

  • Big Damn Heroes: She arrives just in time to back up the party against Avenir's berserk Hard Breaker. Neptune even lampshades it. Unlike the other Makers, though, Marvelous's appearance comes completely out of nowhere with no prior introduction to her character.
  • Casting Gag: She shares the same Japanese voice actress as Asuka from Senran Kagura.
  • Cleavage Window: Expected considering the series she is based on, she has a window in her chest to expose her cleavage.
  • Clothing Damage: After Neptune attempts to learn some Ninja skills from her. A downloadable costume also has this as its theme.
  • Code Name: MarvelousAQL is not her real name, but rather her ninja code name.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Musical notes on her irises.
  • Idiot Hair: The string in her hair is in the shape of the company's logo.
  • In-Series Nickname: Goes by Marvey ("Marve-chan") in conversation.
  • Insistent Terminology: Inverted. Her equipment and skills descriptions use every synonym in the book for "ninja"... except shinobi.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: She only tends to use a Katana for her special attacks, otherwise sticking with whatever tanto has been equipped.
  • Legacy Character: Two of her former allies were lost to a trap. She took their names to come up with her own code name as well as their weapons to continue protecting Gamindustri.
  • Ninja: Of the Highly-Visible variety. She was trained in her Ninja academy for years, knowing the fundamentals of being a kunoichi (female ninja); which includes almost every form of ninjutsu, such as a scroll that could produce large gusts of wind, or the katanas she uses in gameplay where she slashes her enemies. When she was summoned by Izawa to assist Neptune, she teaches her on how to be one.
  • Overly Long Fighting Animation: Has probably the most long-winded solo EXE Drive in the game. The fact it's staged like the special attacks from Senran Kagura (which have distinct setup and execution animations) contributes to this.
  • Shout-Out: Would fit right in the world of Senran Kagura, which is produced by Marvelous Entertainment.
  • Sigil Spam: Her Idiot Hair and a flourish during her EXE Drive both form the Marvelous AQL logo.
  • Stepford Smiler: The reason she's always smiling is to keep a promise to her fallen comrades.
  • Stripperiffic: Essentially one button away from dressing like Katsuragi.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Said word for word during her Rensen EX Finisher. She also insists that she's just joking immediately after.

Debuted in Megadimension Neptunia VII

    Million Arthur

Million Arthur

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/million_arthur.png

Voiced by: Inori Minase (Japanese), Cherami Leigh (English)

One of the three guest characters assisting the CPUs, that being Neptune. Noble and headstrong, Milli has been known for traveling across the land in search for a prize… the prize being a pack full of girls. She is also prone to being preoccupied with other things, leading her to roam endlessly at Planeptune. She came from the country of Britain, and is accompanied by her Fairy Companion, Cheekama.

  • Always Save the Girl: She will always rush in to rescue any cute girls without a second thought if she spots any of them in danger. This is also the reason how she and Neptune first met each other.
  • Cards of Power: Other than being fit to wield Excalibur as their weapons, Arthurs also have the ability to use magical cards summoning or casting spells.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: She may be a Knight in Shining Armor with big plans to reform her country for the better, but she's also prone to perverted antics like making a doppelganger harem from the CPUs' elements.
  • Excalibur in the Stone: To qualify as the heir of the throne of Britain, one must be worthy enough to pull an Excalibur sword from the stone or ground. This is how she became an Arther.
  • Magic Knight: While she's an expert in sword play, she also expert in elemental attacks.
  • Power Perversion Potential: She can make obedient and affectionate clones of anyone from her cards as long as she possess any of their elements. She and Vert gladly take advantage of this when bathing with their harem of so called "little sisters" or "knights".
  • Temporary Online Content: IFI eventually lost the rights to this character, and all DLC relating to her was taken down preventing anyone who had not already purchased her and her equipment from being able to use her. She was omitted entirely from the English Switch release for the same reason.

    God Eater

God Eater

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/god_eater_4.png

Voiced by: Ai Kakuma (Japanese), Faye Mata (English)

One of the three guest characters assisting the CPUs, that being Noire. She's a heavy eater, not once going a day without requesting for food, being excited when food's involved, or eating food. Aside from this, she's a member of the Lastation Defence Force, and goes on secretive missions to hunt monsters and other wild beasts. She is accompanied by her God Arc, Abbadon.

  • Big Eater: Easily outlasts Uzume in a chili dog eating contest.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: Assigned by the Far East Branch of Lastation as Noire's bodyguard.
  • Composite Character: Her appearance is based on three different female characters of the franchise: Alisa, Ciel and Nana. She even has a costume that makes her almost identical to Ciel.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: Her weapon of choice, which is a fusion of sword, shield, and gun at bare minimum.

    Nitroplus

nitro+

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nitroplus.png

Voiced by: Sachika Misawa (Japanese), Ryan Bartley (English)

One of the three guest characters assisting the CPUs, that being Vert. For weeks, she has been hunting down people who distribute pirated games in the PC Continent, her hometown. She doesn't believe she's a hero in a traditional sense; her way of eradicating evil from the world to show other people there is good in the world. She is accompanied by her meaty companion, Raw Meat.

  • Badass Boast: Delivers one shortly before joining the party: "Catch a rat, kill a rat. Catch a god, kill a god. The sword does not discriminate."
  • Bayonet Ya: Her Raging Bull revolver has a folding knife bayonet attached that is normally stowed in a crevice under the barrel, and allowing the revolver to be used as a melee weapon during combat.
  • Chainsaw Good: She starts off her Limit Break be grabbing a chainsaw.
  • Fair Cop: An attractive young woman who's also an agent of the PC Continent.
  • The Gadfly: At one point, she manages to fool Vert into thinking that she and everyone she knows has the appearance of raw meat, while Raw Meat herself looks like a normal girl.
  • I'm Not a Hero, I'm...: She rejects Vert's assertion that she's a hero, stating that in a perfect world someone like her who brutally beats people into submission wouldn't be necessary.
  • Playing with Fire: Some of her Combo Skills are fire-based attacks.
  • Strange Cop in a Strange Land: She's an agent of the PC Continent from far across the ocean who traveled to Leanbox to hunt down the remnants of the Deity of Sin's organization that had been making a ruckus over there. While she does more or less fit in, some things about Gameindustri do surprise her since her continent doesn't have anything like the CPUs.
  • Sword and Gun: As with Adult Neptune, she wields both a sword and a pistol. However, unlike Adult Neptune, the bayonet on the revolver allows the gun to double as a melee weapon to be used in normal combo attacks. The revolver itself is fired only during special attacks.

Debuted in Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters

    Higurashi When They Cry

Higurashi: When They Cry

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/higurashi_neptunia.png

Voiced by: Mai Nakahara (Japanese), Emi Lo (English)

A friendly girl from the PC Continent in search of all things cute. She tends to try to take home cute babies and distinctive sculptures.

  • Ax-Crazy: Once she comes to the conclusion that Maho is a spy (she's right, but doesn't know that there's more than one Maho), she resolves to "try her hardest" to fix the situation like Rena when she became intent on murder. Once she snaps at Maho, she goes so hatchet-swingingly wild that the CPUs have to beat her into submission.
  • Brutish Weapon Brutish Character: She is seen wielding a giant cleaver, and during her boss fight, slashes her opponents in a Berserker-like fashion.
  • Captain Ersatz: Her appearance, personality, and even her voice actress are all a dead ringer for Rena RyÅ«gÅ«. Her outfit somewhat resembles Angel Mort's waitress uniform.
  • Casting Gag: Being an Expy of Rena, she's appropriately voiced by the former's Japanese and English VAs: Mai Nakahara and Emi Lo (who voiced Rena in the dub of Gou/Sotsu) respectively.
  • Cute and Psycho: Higurashi can go from a cute, kind, and friendly if absent-minded girl to a raging Ax-Crazy cleaver-wielding Berserker at moments notice. Appropriate for a character based on the poster child of the trope.
  • Girl with Psycho Weapon: She's a cute girl wielding a cleaver that is twice the size of her.
  • I'm Taking Her Home with Me!: Wouldn't represent Rena if she didn't try to snatch every cute thing in sight. Ram and Rom get abducted by her for this reason in her introduction.
  • That Liar Lies: She yells Rena's infamous "Uso da!" when Maho still claims to not remember anything after a recording of her mentioning that she was involved with ASIC, as Higurashi had previously overheard Maho (though it wasn't really the same Maho) calling Arfoire to discuss the rPhone's origins getting exposed.

    Shanghai Alice

Shanghai Alice

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shanghai_alice_neptunia.png

Voiced by: Yua Nagae (Japanese), Madeline Dorroh (English)

An uncomplicated type from the PC Continent. She is earning a daily income after the Trendi Phenomenon ruined her journey.

  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: She's often around Higurashi to rein in her attempted kidnapping.
  • Expy: Her entire character is obviously based off of Reimu Hakurei from Touhou Project, wearing a similar red and white miko, red hair bow, and having brown hair. The baton she uses in battle is similar to Reimu's gohei.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is based on Team Shanghai Alice, the main developers of the Touhou games.
  • Miko: Much like her inspiration, her outfit resembles that of a shrine maiden and is stated to be wandering throughout the PC Continent as a result of the Trending Phenomenon.
  • Virtuous Character Copy: While she does take a few aspects from Reimu, one thing she doesn't have from the latter is her occassional greedy and rude behavior towards anyone she meets, especially if its a Yōkai. Instead, Shanghai Alice is a relatively level-headed and friendly wanderer who is kind to everyone she meets.

Tamsoft

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tamsoft_render_copy_768x1469.png

Voiced by: Ami Koshimizu (Japanese), Amanda Céline Miller (English)

A senior at Gamicademi and the Class President of Blanc's film club. She's honest and diligent, helping out Blanc in the production of her films, and is said to be a skilled Ninja during and outside of school. She represents her namesake Tamsoft Corporation, who made the spin-off games. She is pen-pals with MarvelousAQL. She also appears in Cyberdimension as a Blacksmith NPC.

  • The Blacksmith: Her role in Cyberdimension, where she takes on the Blacksmith class and runs a shop where you can improve swords and other weapons.
  • Blue Is Heroic: She is one of the main heroines of MegaTagmension Blanc and has blue as her secondary color.

    Segami

Hatsumi Sega (Segami)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sega_hard_girls_hatsumi.png

Voiced by: Emi Nitta (Japanese), Cassandra Lee Morris (English)

An amnesiac girl who is rescued by IF at the beginning of the game, but can't remember what her previous life was like apart from her name. As a result, she acts noisy, immature and tongue-in-cheek, often throwing insults at her friends when things don't go her way. Despite this, she has a strong sense of loyalty to them, and is determined to get her memories back. She represents Sega, a well-known video game developer known for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and a former console maker.

  • Ambiguously Lesbian: Segami gets excited when bike Nep jokingly tells everybody that IF was planning a getaway between herself and Segami, then is visibly upset when IF immediately denies it and points out that any trip they take would automatically include bike Nep out of necessity.
  • Amnesiac God: She's actually a goddess who was responsible for the creations of the Sega Hard Girls. Once she fully regains her memories, she realizes who she is now.
  • Amnesiac Hero: Segami comes falling from the sky (as usual) with no conscious memories that she can recall. She'll only fully regain her memories in the True Ending.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Segami looks like a nice girl, but is really a brat who tries to prevent "useless" battles from happening. She does get better later on in the game.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Her overall color scheme is blue and is one of the main protagonists of Superdimension Neptune.
  • But Now I Must Go: She leaves in the True Ending. Which is later subverted, as she returns to go on further adventures with IF almost immediately.
  • Moe Anthropomorphism: Of Sega. Her design alone (golden rings, red and white sneakers, blue as her color scheme) is inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: The characters and even her character box refers to her as "Segami".
  • Physical God: As the True Ending shows, she is the only Maker in the entire series to be a goddess.
  • Punny Name:
    • Segami is a portmanteau of Sega (the company she personifies) and "Megami" ("Goddess" in japanese and her true form).
    • Her full name, Hatsumi Sega, is derived from Hatsune Miku, whose aforementioned game series was produced by Sega.
  • Voluntary Shape Shifter: Segami has the ability to transform into any main Sega Hard Girl met up to the point where you use it. Her Dreamcast form is by far the most broken.

    Artisan

Artisan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/snrpg_artisan.png

Voiced by: Satomi Akesaka (Japanese), Erika Harlacher (English)

The leader of the Resistance, Artisan is a mysterious vigilante who can sneak into other buildings without anyone noticing and has been pursuing the Bombyx Mori to get info on them. After her encounter with Neptune, she becomes a full-fledged party member. She represents her namesake Artisan Studios, the developer of Super Neptunia RPG.

Gold Third

Main Four

A quartet who serve as rivals for the CPUs, their "Gold Form" serving a similar purpose to HDD. They first appear during the Zero Dimension arc, before debuting for real in the Hyperdimension Neptunia G arc during the final day of G-1 Grand Prix, challenging the goddesses and usurping their role as leaders of their respective nations. In Game Maker, they take the role of game developers who are trying to protect the world from illegally distributed games. And much like the CPUs, they're not the only ones around.

    General Tropes
  • Ancient Order of Protectors: This is their role in Game Maker. On the surface they're just a self appointed global police force, however after the Failure Goddesses accidentally created the Zaikopath with the negative energy accumulated from the sheer volume of garbage games they produced, they stepped in to strictly and violently regulate the production and distribution of games globally to ensure another would never be created nor would the first ever be unsealed as they felt such utterly draconian measures would be worth it to stop the end of the world.
  • Anti-Villain:
    • None of them are actual villains, just their roles lead them in conflict with the CPUs. Most of the arc is about the CPUs and their respective Gold Third counterparts getting to know each other.
    • F-Sha in Game Maker is introduced as a Black Knight who confronts the Failure Goddesses on a daily basis, with the intent of killing them. But its later revealed that she wants to protect the world from the cursed game discs, a virus created by Zaikopath that can make anyone who touches it go insane, and the Failure Goddesses bad games inadvertently caused the creation of the Eldritch Abomination. She later joins the party after being defeated twice.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: They easily curbstomp the CPUs when they first time meet each other during G-1 Grand Prix final, and consequently take over their nations after the Cosmic Retcon.
  • Badass Crew: When they band together they defeat the CPUs, who are a Badass Crew themselves, in a Curb-Stomp Battle.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Correctly predicting that the CPUs might not defeat Affimojas with their low Shares at the time, they arrive with a Hyper Share Crystal made by Histoire from the fragments of their own Gold Crystals just in time to bail the CPUs out of a hostage situation.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Even when the Gold crystals are destroyed, the Gold Third can still transform. When the CPU Candidates seek them out for help in the Heartdimension arc, they each request a spar to gauge their current power without the crystals, but it's ultimately not as big a handicap as they expected.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Getting trapped in the Immersion-kun ProMAX by the Copy Trio ends up permanently stripping them of their ability to use their Gold Forms so they end up sitting out the more direct action of the final stretch of the game, aside from organizing evacuation efforts.
  • Composite Character: In general, all of them are pretty similar to Makers from previous games. However, they also borrow some elements of Generals from Noire's spin-off. For example: K-Sha is a composite between Saori's kindhearted nature and Lid's battle hardened personality, while C-Sha is a composite between Vio's military-style outfit and Lee-Fi's fighting style.
  • Demoted to Extra: In VII, they're the focus of the second arc and join the playable cast in the third. In Sisters vs Sisters, they're nothing more than Chirper accounts. Meanwhile, Game Maker gives them some more relevance to the story but still keeps them out of the playable cast due to the situation that causes them to be Brought Down to Normal.
  • Deity of Human Origin: Downplayed. The Golden Summits and the Gold Crystals inside were what gave them their Gold Forms, which run on Share Energy just like the CPUs and would allow them to technically serve as such. However, unlike how a CPU Memory works in the Ultradimension, it didn't give them the other perks like immortality. Plus, if their Gold Crystals are destroyed, they lose much of their power though they still keep the Gold Forms since that's what converts the Share Energy into a usable form for them, unlike a CPU who can use it in its raw form.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: What was merely intended as a test for their Gold Forms results in a public curb-stomping of the CPUs.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: All four of them make their first appearances during the Zero Dimension arc, during Neptune's Hyperdimension interlude.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: They were once basically Makers until they learned of the Golden Summits and were bestowed the Gold Crystals, which converts Share Energy into a usable form for them and gave them their Gold Forms.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble:
    • B-Sha is Sanguine, being the most childish and energetic.
    • S-Sha is Melancholic, being apathetic to almost everything.
    • K-Sha is Choleric, being the most trigger-happy as a trained mercenary.
    • C-Sha is Phlegmatic, being the leader of the quartet as the most rational.
  • Kidnapped by the Call: They originally just wanted to challenge the CPUs to a fight when they acquired their powers, but then Kurome rewrote history and made them the nations' leaders.
  • Meaningful Name: The first initial of their names is derived from the first letter of thier representative companies (e.g. B-Sha comes from Bandai Namco, K-Sha from Konami etc.). The "-Sha" part is derived from kabushiki gaisha, which means "company Ltd." in Japanese.
  • Moe Anthropomorphism: Of triple-A Japanese game publishers/developers.
  • One Extra Member: Lampshaded in despite being called Gold Third, there's four of them. And if you count E-Sha, it's really more like five.
  • Super Mode: Their Gold Form is comparable to the CPUs' HDD, which, instead of a full-on transformation, simply gains them more gear and weapons alongside having Supernatural Golden Eyes.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: While their Gold Form is active, and it's the only visible change in their character portraits.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Plays a similar role to the Seven Sages from Victory, although the number of members and personalities are different. After joining as party members, however, they share similar roles with Makers from previous games.
  • The Prophecy: The Golden Summit powers are supposed to be used to save the world in a time of crisis, according to a magazine that Neptune had read and ended up in B-Sha's hands when she left it behind. Granted, none of them aside from B-Sha believed it at first, but when said towers suddenly appeared, they panicked and decided to check them out, receiving their powers in the process. According to Kurome, the Golden Summits are actually a self-preservation mechanism created by Gamindustri itself in the event global Share Energy and faith in the CPUs reaches a critical low point, such as during the CPU Shift Period.
  • Unflinching Walk: How all four end their Combination Attack when they become playable characters.
  • Unwitting Pawn: The Gold Third challenged the CPUs in order to test their new powers, but they had no idea that they were playing into Affimax and Kurome's hands. Futhermore, Kurome reveals that she used the unique signature the Golden Summits emit in order to lock down the dimensional coordinates of Hyper Dimension, which would allow her to merge it with Heart Dimension and unleash her ultimate apocalyptic plan.
  • The Usurper: All of the members easily defeat the goddesses and claim their roles as the nations' leaders. Subverted, as most of them admitted they have little to no experience in leading their landmass. This happens due to Kurome's alteration along with Affimojas' help.

    C-Sha

C-Sha

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c_sha.png

"Hey! Hold off on that match for a second!"
Voiced by: Haruka Tomatsu (Japanese), Amanda Céline Miller (English)

The leader of Gold Third on account of being the most down-to-earth of the quartet. She has a voracious appetite for meat, yet proudly maintains a nice figure. After Gamindustri's rewrite, she ends up in charge of Lowee, but searches for the cause of a draconian license system set up in her absence while working as a Guild Hunter, developing a vitriolic relationship with Blanc (on the latter's end) as the CPU tries to reclaim her nation.

  • Aren't You Going to Ravish Me?: When she's kept prisoner by the Revolutionary Army, and a couple of soldiers say she's not their type, as they're more interested in underdeveloped figures like Blanc's (who they can't remember at that point is the reason they wanted to live in Lowee because of the Cosmic Retcon).
  • Arm Cannon: She uses this when performing C-Buster SP skill, just like a certain other Blue Bomber. She also equips one when she uses her Super Mode.
  • Antiquated Linguistics: Strangely slips into this while possessed, despite her possessor Kurome not speaking this way.
  • The Atoner: The reason why C-Sha initially lied to Blanc about not meeting her before is because she feels responsible for inadvertently causing Gamindustri to be in its current state. This also applies to her day job as a Hunter, as she feels that she personally has to hunt monsters due to being the source of the fog that's corrupting the monsters.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Most of her Combo Skills involving martial arts moves, taking heavy inspiration from Street Fighter.
  • BFS: She unleashes this one in her Great Sword Dance SP skill, resembling something straight out of Monster Hunter.
  • Blood Knight: She's the Gold Third who loves fighting the most, even using Dante's famous "This is what I live for! I'm absolutely crazy about it!" quote in the fight to recruit her during the third arc when she's at 50% health.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: She's subjected to this by one of Lowee's corrupt politicians in Blanc's story. Though it's the mental damage Kurome deals out that proves more dangerous in the long run.
  • Cool Big Sis: Rom and Ram view her as one, since she's a lot more willing to engage with their pranks than with Blanc and is just as equally as caring to them as Blanc is.
  • The Corrupter: Albeit unwillingly. It turns out that she's the source of the fog that's turning the monsters delusional in Lowee, but she's also doing her best to suppress the threat as a Hunter.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Brown hair with brown eyes.
  • Demonic Possession: Once C-Sha overcomes her original despair, Kurome uses the Negative energy stored up in her body to forcibly possess her with the intent of making her attack Lowee. C-Sha only resists long enough to get back to her Golden Summit tower, and Blanc and her sisters have to fight her to force Kurome out.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Briefly undergoes this when she thinks Blanc sold her out to Lowee's Revolutionary Army, despite Blanc not even realizing they were being spied upon. She gets over it once she learns the truth from some guards.
  • Faking Amnesia: She claims that she doesn't recognize Blanc after Gamindustri's rewrite, but later admits that she was simply trying to start off on better terms after Gold Third's victory over the CPUs seemed to have caused the Cosmic Retcon.
  • The Gadfly: To Blanc. She often calls her "Blanny" despite the latter being embarrassed by it, and she assists Rom and Ram in doodling in her manuscripts. While she does mean well and cares for the CPU, and Blanc gets along with her better than she does with Vert - who can sometimes act overbearingly conceited especially when it comes to her breasts, C-Sha's not above teasing her temperamental assistant.
  • Gratuitous English: Often speaks in broken English when it's her turn to attack in the Japanese version.
  • Holding Back the Phlebotinum: She usually has to release the delusionary fog at certain intervals from her body, but when she's captured, she's forced to hold it all in to prevent from being released into Lowee. This, combined with Kurome's Mind Rape, eventually weakens her enough that Kurome is able to forcibly take over her body.
  • The Leader: Of Gold Third, by virtue of being the Only Sane Man.
  • Misanthrope Supreme: Briefly goes through this in captivity thanks to Kurome's Mind Rape, deciding that if the people of Lowee didn't care for everything she sacrificed for them, they could all die to the monster hordes coming. Financier's speech and learning Blanc's fighting the monsters alone snaps her out of it.
  • More than Mind Control: Kurome uses Mind Rapes coupled with Breaking Speeches within them during her captivity and to make her snap, but when that fails she settles for outright taking over her body to make her attack Blanc.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's the most ravishing member of the Gold Third, thanks to her Stripperriffic outfit and large bustline. Lampshaded by the game itself in the Zero Dimension arc's credits with her brief appearance credited as "Sexy Lady".
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: Her outfit exposes much of her chest down to her navel, though there's a few belts along the way.
  • Only Sane Man: It's said she's the only one who possesses common sense among the Gold Third. Considering what B-Sha, K-Sha, and S-Sha can get up to, it's not hard to argue the point.
  • Power Fist: Her weapon of choice is her fists, and her equippable weapons consist of gauntlets and orbs attached to her gloves.
  • Power Gives You Wings: Gains a pair of blue-and-gold bat wings in her Gold Form.
  • The Scapegoat: She has a nightmare where Lowee blames her for the license system that she's been trying to stop, and go as far as demand her execution for it.
  • Supreme Chef: Crosses between this and One Note Chef. On one hand, she can prepare roasted meat worthy of the title of "Master Roastie". On the other, it's the only kind of food she's seen preparing.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Such a speech from Financier gets her out of her misanthropic mindset during her captivity. It takes Kurome forcibly possessing her to make her fight Blanc.

    B-Sha

B-Sha

"It'll be 1,000 Credits for helping you out one time! Thanks for your business!"
Voiced by: Ayana Taketatsu (Japanese), Corina Boettger (English)

An excitable girl who loves toy robots and money. After Gamindustri's rewrite, she became the leader of Planeptune, though she proves as averse to adminsitrative work as its original leader Neptune, who quickly befriends B-Sha despite taking her rightful place. She enjoys playing the role of a superhero under the flimsy guise of "Presto Mask" (though rescuees who aren't children are expected to pay up), but suffers from a crippling fear of monsters.

  • Badass Adorable: Surprisingly powerful compared to her frail appearance.
  • BFG: She wields a recoil-less rifle that's almost as long as she is tall. It becomes a rocket launcher in her Gold Form.
  • Birds of a Feather: She and Neptune have by far the fastest and easiest friendship of all the CPU-Gold Third pairings, as both are friendly, fun-loving people who don't like working but love helping others. Neptune's impression of her nominal usurper is helped by finding her Planeptune practically no different from how she left it and seeing B-Sha's earnest if inefectual superheroism. Their relationship is essentially the same as Neptune's with Plutia, except they spend more time playing together than napping. B-Sha even makes it a point to exempt Neptune from her habit of charging people money for everything.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Kurome briefly brainwashes her into seeing everyone around her as monsters, then sics her and the transformed Warechu on Planeptune. She gets better after a fight and a pep talk.
  • Chekhov's Gun: She's the only Gold Third member to not visit her tower at the end of Neptune's arc and shatter her Gold Third crystal. The bulk of it ends up being used as the source for the CPUs Next Form.
  • Face Your Fears: Kurome decides to "help" her overcome her fear of monsters by brainwashing her to become hyper-aggressive toward them, while also making her view Neptune's group as monsters that need to be eliminated to save the children of Planeptune. After their "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight, Purple Heart convinces her to just accept her fear as natural while continuing to protect others.
  • Friend to All Children: Kids are exempt from paying for her heroics. The frightened screams of Planeptune's children while monsters run amok help break her out of Kurome's brainwashing.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Her twintails mark her as the most playful and immature member of Gold Third.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Briefly joins Neptune's party at the end of Neptune's arc against a Brainwashed and Crazy Warechu as Neptune's Final Boss in her arc. B-Sha permanently joins later during the H-Arc.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's a young blond girl who's very dedicated to heroics (even if there's a price tag on it).
  • Mini-Mecha: The Bandam that she summons in some of her SP skills and her Limit Break.
  • "Just Joking" Justification: When asked for consent to sacrifice her Gold Crystal (and much of her power) to create a Hyper Share Crystal for the CPUs, B-Sha agrees... while attaching a hefty price. After getting annoyed glares from her three teammates, she hastily passes it off as a joke, admitting that repaying Neptune matters more to her than her powers.
  • Modesty Shorts: Unlike nearly everyone else, B-Sha wears shorts under her dress.
  • Money Fetish: B-Sha loves money, to the point of requesting a payment for everything the payer gives her. However, she notably always exempts Neptune from any payment.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: The only thing separating her from being B-Sha and being Presto Mask is... well, a mask that only covers her eyes. Lampshaded, as no one is fooled. No one. Literally no one, not even the random NPCs. Everyone knows it's her but say nothing in order to let B-Sha enjoy herself.
  • Pie-Eyed: Her irises have a small triangle where her sclera cut in. She also gets the classic black ovals with these when surprised, likely a reference to Pac-Man.
  • The Pollyanna: Despite being a bit of a coward towards monsters, she never seems to lose her energetic nature.
  • Secret Identity: As Presto Mask, helping Planeptune residents from monsters. However, it's actually something of an open secret in Planeptune because it's such a Paper-Thin Disguise.
  • Security Blanket: She freaks out when she sees Warechu, despite easily defeating him as Presto Mask. She eventually realizes that she's hiding behind her mask and throws it away to change herself.
  • The Slacker: Unfortunately for Histoire, B-Sha isn't much of an improvement over Neptune in terms of work ethic, especially when they play together.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Monsters?: Despite being regarded as a hero by Planeptune residents, she is afraid of monsters, having been she was attacked by one when she was little. Neptune' motivation to help her overcome this makes the two bond despite everything that had happened previously.

"Control of Gamindustri? ...Not interested."
Voiced by: Maaya Uchida (Japanese), Danielle McRae (English)

The least sociable member of Gold Third, dismissing almost everything with "not interested". She has two strangely humanoid Dogoos as her servants. After Gamindustri's rewrite, she takes leadership of Leanbox, enlisting its rightful leader Vert into her army SOLDIER to deal with potential threats to the nation. Her goals are ultimately unconcerned with Leanbox's security so much as saving someone important to her...

  • Always Save the Girl: Her plan was to implant her soul into another vessel so the body of E-Sha wouldn't deteriorate, knowing full well that such a process would prove difficult and costly. While she is reluctant to resort to sacrificing one million ran-pigs after her plan to use the "Demon King" (really a Zero Dimension monster) fell through, she is still willing to do so if it meant E-Sha would live, despite E-Sha begging her to stop. Once she realizes Arfoire and Kurome lied to her though, she immediately abandons the plan.
  • Bad Boss: Mostly towards humanoid Dogoos, particularly the Dogoo Man, whom she uses as a chair in her first on-screen appearance. That said, she does appreciate them for their loyalty. E-Sha, in contrast, is close friends with Dogoos. She also doesn't show much open care for the hundreds of thousands of Leanbox Soldiers turned into ran-pigs and leaves Vert to take care of them and even intended (if reluctantly) to sacrifice them all when her plans for the so-called Demon King fell through.
  • Berserk Button: Her combat lines point towards getting hurt being one for her, with her threatening to kill anybody who tries. It's because she's in E-Sha's body instead of her own. She's more upset at the thought of E-Sha getting attacked than at the potential of being hurt herself.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Averted. She's the only Gold Third who isn't brainwashed by Kurome to attack the CPUs. Kurome simply uses the threat of E-Sha's life ending along with simple manipulation to force her into doing what she does to prevent it.
  • Character Catchphrase: As mentioned above, she has a habit of voicing her lack of interest in a given subject. It's to the point that when she does vocally decide to do something (i.e. save the Brainwashed and Crazy CPUs), C-Sha notes she didn't expect the "Disinterested Diva" to get involved willingly.
  • Cool Crown: Part of her Gold Form's additional apparel is a golden crown, worn lopsided to emulate Sora's.
  • Cool Shades: Occasionally shown wearing them in cutscenes, usually in public.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: As mentioned in the quote above, she has no interest in ruling Gamindustri despite challenging the CPUs for their positions. In fact, when Vert demands control of Leanbox after defeating the "Demon King", she plainly states she can have it.
  • Eyes Are Mental: E-Sha's eye color is green and the signal she's in control of their body.
  • False Flag Operation: The "outside invaders" attacking Leanbox were in fact manufactured robots created in Leanbox factories using parts from the other nations, which S-Sha used to train the Soldiers and put them in a position where they would end up cursed into ran-pigs.
  • Identical Twins: What the relationship between S-Sha and E-Sha appears to be on the surface, sans eye color. The truth is a bit more complicated than that.
  • Meteor-Summoning Attack: She drops a meteor with a Badass Fingersnap at the end of her Limit Break, but only if she's in her Super Mode.
  • Ms. Imagination: Not as prevalent as Uzume, as S-Sha actually can keep a lid on it and doesn't break her usual stoic character when she does, but she does have moments of fantasizing out loud that leave others puzzled.
  • My Greatest Failure: She attempted to make a movie in the past. It... didn't go so well. In fact, it almost caused the original S-Sha to die before E-Sha stepped in to take S-Sha's soul into her body.
  • Our Souls Are Different: Normally, S-Sha is the one in control of their body except when she's asleep; however, within the Golden Summit E-Sha can temporarily manifest as a spirit separate from her body, which she uses to make contact with Vert and Nepgear.
  • Outside-Context Problem: E-Sha ends up pulling this off twice in Game Maker. The first time is when the group is trapped in the Immersion-kun ProMAX, as it being a virtual world gives her the ability to have a body of her own to guide Victory to where all of the abducted people are being held while posing as one of the mindless copies of the Gold Third to fly under the Pirate Makers' radar. The second time is when the Zaikopath steals S-Sha's soul, E-Sha is there to continue the fight in their body and buys Reedio enough time to find the creature's real body.
  • Power Gives You Wings: Or more specifically, one feathered wing, ala Sephiroth.
  • Possession Burnout: While E-Sha Sharing a Body with S-Sha worked in the short term, S-Sha notes that the human body wasn't meant to hold two souls at once, and her body is slowly breaking down as a consequence. S-Sha's main goal since was to find a suitable body that she could transfer her soul into and thus save E-Sha. Of course, it turns out this was all a lie used by Kurome.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eyes are crimson red, and though she's more apathetic than anything, make her mad and she will end you. It's also the only way to tell that S-Sha is in control of the body at the time.
  • Sharing a Body: The body actually contains two souls, S-Sha's and E-Sha's. Additionally, the body is E-Sha's, but S-Sha is the dominant personality.
  • Shrinking Violet: This mainly applies to E-Sha, who usually can only answer questions with 'yes' or 'no' if she's uncomfortable with the person in question. In her first conversation with Vert and Nepgear, she resorted to sending texts when she needed to give more detail, even though the recipients were right in front of her.
  • The Stoic: She's "not interested" in much of anything.
  • Talking with Signs: How E-Sha usually communicates in long conversations, specifically with texting.
  • Undying Loyalty: Toward E-Sha, to the point of trying to sacrifice herself when she was convinced that her soul was wearing out E-Sha's body. Nepgear eventually figures out that she can get past S-Sha's "not interested" by redirecting her requests at E-Sha, knowing that S-Sha will have to go along with it.

"This is K-Sha. I have successfully infiltrated the destination point. I will now continue the mission."
Voiced by: Rina Hidaka (Japanese), Abby Trott (English)

An academically and athletically gifted student at Lastation's School for Girls who is secretly a trained mercenary. After Gamindustri's rewrite, she became the leader of Lastation, but slipped out of the position to enjoy a free life, allowing her former organization to take control in her absence. She develops a friendship with the nation's original leader Noire that soon turns into infatuation, but she soon starts to feel that Noire's sister Uni is in the way...

  • Academic Athlete: In addition to being a trained assassin, during her time at Lastation's School for Girls, she had also studied for both scholarships and physical activities.
  • Ax-Crazy: She starts to become unhinged when she thinks Uni hinders her relationship with Noire and attempts to kill her, although this is downplayed. Thankfully, both Noire and Uni managed to snap her out of it; although Uni was scared a little bit.
  • Badass Adorable: She's a deadly mercenary under the guise of an ordinary schoolgirl.
  • Badass Boast: Says Gray Fox's infamous "a cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal" quote in the fight to recruit her during the third arc when she's at 50% health.
  • BFG: She has a railgun in her Super Mode that she fires at the end of her Limit Break.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She acts all friendly and polite towards Noire, but is inwardly a Yandere who threatened to kill Uni if she got in the way of her "girlfriend".
  • The Chains of Commanding: She originally didn't want the responsibility of ruling Lastation, though she eventually steps in so she can end the Order's stranglehold in the Basilicom.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Really doesn't like it when Noire pays attention to anyone other than her.
  • Contralto of Strength: Her high, cheery voice goes down several octaves the moment she picks up a weapon.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Wears one over her left eye in Gold Form, likely as a reference to Big Boss.
  • Guns Akimbo: Her weapons of choice are a pair of sub-machine guns.
  • Gun Nut: In one cutscene, she and Uni have an intense discussion on how to best modify the latter's weapon.
  • Hidden Depths: Her bio states that she is good at rhythm games.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: As a member of the Order, K-Sha realized that she wanted a normal life and ended up leaving them. Also, when reality is rewritten so that the Gold Third rules Gamindustri, she initially left politics to the Basilicom so she could continue her normal student life.
  • In Love with the Mark: She was initially tasked with assassinating Noire to ensure that the CPU couldn't regain her Basilicom, but soon grew to admire and even develop a crush on her from watching Noire's dedication toward her former citizens.
  • Madness Mantra: After getting brainwashed, she rants about how killing Uni will keep Noire's eyes on her forever and ever. She repeats the last two lines for the remainder of the scene until she regains control of her mind.
  • More than Mind Control: Kurome uses a combination of a Breaking Speech and Negative Energy infusion to drive K-Sha mad.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Tries to kill Uni, whom she regards as getting between her and Noire. It's instigated by Kurome.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After Noire and Uni snap her out of her brainwashing, K-sha expresses remorse for all the trouble she's caused and decides to part ways, but Noire still considers her too close a friend to let that happen.
  • An Odd Place to Sleep: An event with Noire shows that K-Sha finds sleeping in carboard boxes to be relaxing.
  • Tyke Bomb: She was raised by the "Order", a group of mercenaries who engage in War for Fun and Profit, though she ends up defecting. Unfortunately, they still try to force K-Sha into working for them and attack her Golden Summit when she doesn't comply.
  • Villainous Crush: For a given value of 'villainous'. After befriending Noire, she secretly harbors an obsession towards her, which eventually develops into a full-on case of Love Makes You Crazy.
  • What You Are in the Dark: As Kurome points out to K-Sha when she decides to use her blood to make the antidote to the Order virus killing Uni, the fact that Noire doesn't know she can do this would be the perfect time to commit Murder by Inaction and be the close friend who helps Noire through the grief of losing her sister. K-Sha is sorely tempted but saves Uni anyways...but the inner struggle is the final tipping point Kurome needs to push K-Sha into full-blown brainwashed Yandere mode.
  • Yandere: She starts off as a sweet woman who helps Noire by hiding from her nation's police force, but later degrades into a Clingy Jealous Girl, and the to a battle-hardened Ax-Crazy, akin to Raiden's "Jack the Ripper" persona due to her troubled backstory and Kurome's psychological warfare. K-Sha clearly realizes how unstable she is and tries to cope, going as far as dueling Noire with the intention of venting their issues so they can start over. Kurome has to resort to total brainwashing to get her to snap.

    F-Sha

F-Sha

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f_sha_neptunia.png

Voiced by: Mana Nakatomi (Japanese), TBA (English)

A wandering swordswoman hunting down the source of the cursed discs, F-Sha is also the only known employee of the legendary company F-Software with the world eagerly awaiting the release of her new AAA Game "Elel Ring". She holds a deep grudge against Victory, but refuses to explain why.

  • BFS: She carries a sword that, while not huge, is twice the size as her. One cutscene has her readying her sword at Older Neptune and the Failure Goddesses with a menacing look on her face.
  • Contralto of Strength: As shown in the trailers and game proper, F-Sha speaks in a deep, somewhat boyish voice to highlight her toughness.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: At first glance, F-Sha is an intimidating hardass who challenges anyone who opposes her in a fight, complete with a Battle Aura made from dark energy. She's shown working with Croire at the beginning of the game too. In reality, though a very no-nonsense person, she's actually trying to save the world from Zaikopath, an Eldritch Abomination responsible for the creation of the cursed game discs — an artifact that she wants to demolish, and her initial antagonism towards the Failure Goddesses stems from the fact that they accidentally created Zaikopath in the first place.
  • Doomed Hometown: Originally her home was on an island south of Planeptune, but it was destroyed when the Failure Goddesses accidentally created the Zaikopath. This is why she's so violently opposed to allowing Victory to exist.
  • Dueling Works: In-Universe, F-Sha's Elel Ring is developed similarly to Victory's Mushikaiser and planned to release at the same time in order to completely crush them using her superior access to advertising and status as a legendary Maker since she can't manage to beat them in a normal fight.
  • Friendly Enemy: Despite being a rival Maker, she often leaves notes explaining various dungeon gimmicks or warning of a strong enemy ahead for anyone else who may be passing through on the way to a Sales Area when it would be in her company's best interest to let these things filter out the competition instead.
  • Hero Antagonist: She opposes the Faliure Goddesses only because they were indirectly responsible for the birth of Zaikopath, who then proceeded to created cursed game discs that can exacerbate the victim's emotions to dangerous extremes, and the destruction of her hometown. Other than that, she's merely an Aloof Ally who doesn't pose any malice to the other heroines, and eventually learns to respect the Faliure Goddesses.
  • Honorary True Companion: She's not technically a member of the Gold Third, however she is on good terms with them, is actively working toward the same goal, and is quick to jump to their aid when she learns that they're in danger. As far as the story is concerned, she's just another Maker who has simply become a Living Legend and shares a naming theme with the Gold Third. She does, however, end up officially joining the group after the Zaikopath incident is resolved but before Croire herself is dealt with.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: F-Sha has dark red eyes, and starts off as being cold and antagonistic to the heroines, posing a threatening aura when carrying her sword.
  • Sealed Inside a Person-Shaped Can: After obtaining the necessary amount of Negative Energy by ruining Arfoire's company Croire reveals the second necessary component to unseal the Zaikopath, its Master Disc. This is the true Cursed Disc that she had been trying to find, only for Croire to point out she'd never have been able to find it because it was in her and then pulls it out of her to release the Zaikopath.
  • The Stoic: She comes off as an Emotionless Girl who speaks in a deep contralto, but is also very serious and composed, rarely losing her cool and often serving The Comically Serious in the more comedic moments.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: She has a long ponytail to emphasize her stoic badassery.
