Hoshimachi Suisei

    Real life troping
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Her parents found out about her Vtuber lifestyle when she saw her mother connecting her phone to their television, and started watching all of her videos. Her father was watching intently and comments the way she talked is pretty much "Yup, that's my daughter all right".
  • Daddy's Girl: Suisei apparently talks like her own father. When she talks about how her parents found out her Vtuber and idol career, she mentions how he was watching intently and noted her diction was similar to his.

Stream-only shenanigans, stuff not explicitly about an avatar or their lore, misc. things of that nature
  • A-Cup Angst: Zigzagged. She alternates between not caring at all or caring very little (even making several jokes about it herself), to threatening to use a shotgun on a viewer who brought up the topic.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: She tends to get very flirtatious with Aqua, with the latter calling her a strange person. This hasn't gone unnoticed by Towa.
  • Angrish: Whenever she gets angry, she makes barely comprehensible words while pissed off. Games such as Mario Kart 8 and Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy showcases this well.
  • Apologetic Attacker: She holds the distinct honor of apologizing to her victims in Project Winter and laugh at the same time.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: As much as she enjoys doing random acts of murder, in the case of games like Thief Simulator, she enjoys shattering every toilet she finds.
  • Awesome by Analysis: She has a very quick thinking skills when she plays games, which contributed to her skills in Tetris. She has really good detective skills, which she uses playing Among Us.
  • Ax-Crazy:
    • Part of her humor is her Comedic Sociopathy, where she's quick to resort to violence or even murder when possible. Even when she's not acting as the villain, she's a Heroic Comedic Sociopath at best. Project Winter has shown that she takes both roles effectively, as she will legitimately scare a Traitor as a Survivor while she will kill everyone given the chance as a Traitor (though she's still calculating enough to avoid bum-rushing her targets).
    • This reaches its zenith playing Grand Theft Auto V of all games where she predictably goes around and running people over her car to the point she intended to kill 1,000,000 people in the game. And this is after she tried to shed her reputation as a psychopath for 2021 New Years.
  • Berserk Button:
  • Beware the Nice Ones: As Project Winter has proven, Suisei is very effective in hiding her true nature as Cute and Psycho. Even in collaboration games, those who experienced it first-hand are very wary of her when they play as Survivors and she is one of them. Matsuri is Properly Paranoid due to the Humiliation Conga she experienced from her.
  • Big Good: In her collaboration stream with Mea Kagura, Choco, Inaba Haneru, Amano Pikamee, Tomari Mari, Hinokuma Ran, and Yunohara Izumi, she plays as a Survivor three times in a row, and since she's the most experienced at the game, she easily offs the Traitors while guiding the less experienced players to the goals. It doesn't stop her from being a Creepy Good after offing a Traitor, she steals their hearts to eat. Even Choco, who is a fellow Survivor, was taken aback by her offering a heart to stave off hunger. Even when she left the helicopter to rescue Mea Kagura, the worst she did was Mercy Kill everyone when the rescue chopper leaves them behind, which is far more beneficial than what she did to Matsuri.
  • Birds of a Feather: Suisei and Calli greatly admire each other for their respective singing prowess, with Calli mentioning on Trash Taste that Suisei is one of her two favourite senpai (the other being AZKi), and Suisei affectionately replying to Calli's chat encouragements with "I love you!". Their original songs also sometimes touch upon the same subject, with "GHOST" and "Red" both expressing the feeling of making a lasting impression in the VTuber scene.
  • Blatant Lies: While Suisei doesn't have the greatest grasp of English, she does understand enough to answer basic questions. She once responded to accusations from Gura in Among Us with claiming she didn't speak English after she ran out of other excuses despite understanding the entire conversation. And this was after she had already participated in English conversations earlier in the collab. It threw off everyone else enough that it actually worked, much to Suisei's amusement.
  • Born Unlucky: She does not have the greatest luck when it comes to RNG, which becomes a Running Gag among fans that RNG is specifically against her in luck-based and gacha games.
  • Bring It: When she discovered that IRySnote  issued a challenge that she could beat her at Tetris, she wastes no time in accepting her challenge.
  • Butt-Monkey: Not on the same level like, say, Miko, but Suisei will often be in the butt of jokes when she gets a bit sociopathic, or when she gets in a collaboration with horror games to the point where her fellow idols wastes no time in teasing her if she gets too scared.
  • Car Fu: If she ever plays a game with driving involved, vehicular manslaughter ensues. In other cases, she's not allowed to kill people if the game enforces Thou Shalt Not Kill.
  • Cassandra Truth: If she says it's Not Me This Time in collaboration games, she's telling the truth. More often than not, her friends will immediately suspect her of killing someone when she didn't do it. What doesn't help her case is her tendency to work by herself, and she is often suspected of being the Traitor (Project Winter) or Impostor (Among Us) until proven innocent. What doesn't help is that she is good at lying to avoid suspicion while others would fall for it when she does play those roles, something Matsuri knows by experience.
  • Cherry Tapping: While playing Tales of Arise, she confesses that she had no idea how to change any equipment while she played her first Tales Series game, Tales of Destiny 2. Somehow, she made it all the way to the Final Boss. Which meant that she managed to beat many bosses, including Barbatos!
  • Comedic Sociopathy: Good lord. There's a reason why fans call her "Suiciopath":
    • Multiplayer games such as Project Winter and single player games such as VR horror or Hitman (2016) has shown time and again that she can be a bit out there when she wants to. And it's not limited to games either. When she had a sleepover ASMR with Coco and Kanata in the latter's apartment, she makes questionable remarks that Coco calls her out on, and Kanata outright calls her a psychopath. She was actively bloodthirsty during the 2020 Minecraft Sports Festival where she wants her team to kill the opposing team. And then there's the whole "Kill a million people in GTAV". There's a reason why fans in the west calls her "Suiciopath".
    • After the release of Hololive Alternative short music video, she states she wants to be a Heel on her Twitter if there's an opportunity for her to be in one. Naturally, fans finds this funny.
    • This nearly becomes a Flanderization of her character where she'll give either give a Death Glare or an Implied Death Threat in the Holo no Graffiti episodes.
    • If her killing her friends in Rust isn't enough, she decides to feed her horse boar ribs on her way home.
  • Competition Freak:
    • She has a habit of getting mad at herself for not trying hard at some of the games she plays. Her Muse Dash streams often feature her spending dozens of minutes attempting to hit every note in particularly hard songs.
    • On her Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics stream, she spends a lot of time trying to beat the hardest CPU opponent in 6 Ball Puzzle (and subsequently losing her temper a lot).
    • Luna's 3D debut stream has her playing a Space Invaders knockoff called Holovaders, where she expresses confusion at the seemingly impossible high score of 1770. Suisei later admitted that it was her high score, which she attained when Luna offered to let her try the game before her 3D stream started. She couldn't help but try hard at the game when a staff member told her that the game is surprisingly difficult.
    • Her interview with Kiara gives in insight of this: She started playing Tetris when her family owned a copy, and she played nonstop. She then found out there was an online competitive version and she started playing with her friends online until she encountered a really good player who thoroughly thrashed her. She then developed her competitive freakishness and discovered she really hates losing, and started practicing until she meets that player again, thus her expertise in Tetris and her competitiveness.
    • On her radio series co-starring VA Tadokoro Azusa, Suisei expresses a bit of frustration that her radio show isn't the first Vtuber/VA radio show in Japan. That honor instead goes to Yukoku Roberu of holostars and VA Yuki Ono, having debut mere days prior Suisei and Azusa's show.
  • Cowardly Lion: Despite being scared of horror games (and monsters in Mine Craft), she will brave through her share of unknown horrors through the end of the game. Moreso if she is allowed to fight back as shown in her playthrough of Biohazard 7.
  • Creator Backlash: Played for Laughs in-universe. When she chose to visit a fansite dedicated to her, she noticed her introductory stream was in it, and gave it a watch. She was less than happy when she remembers how hard she was trying to sound cute.
  • Creepy Good: Even when she doesn't play Traitor on Project Winter, she has a tendency to creep out actual Traitors when she plays a Survivor.
  • Dark Horse Victory: Her winning the 2021 New Year's Hololive Mario Kart tournament came out of nowhere, and none of the other members or fans expected it.
  • Damn You, Muscle Memory!: After playing Grand Theft Auto V since the start of 2021, she developed a habit of running people over she sees on sidewalks. When she returns playing Thief Simulator, she does the same thing, forgetting that killing is a Non-Standard Game Over.
  • Dead Person Impersonation: She enjoys pulling this tactic during Project Winter by either impersonating a survivor (such as Miko or Fubuki) or a fellow Traitor (Aki Rosenthal, who was poisoned and killed by wolves).
  • Delinquents: Suisei sometimes enjoys talking or acting like a yankī when she's trying to be both comedic and intimidating at the same time.
  • The Dreaded:
    • To the point that Matsuri has every reason to be very weary and Properly Paranoid of her in collaboration games, even if they're on the same side. It doesn't help that Suisei enjoys butchering her friends in collaboration games like Project Winter and Among Us with a sadistic glee and laughing at their suffering. Because it amuses her doing so. Not even guest collaborators are safe, even as a Heroic Comedic Sociopath. There's a reason she has her well-deserved reputation as an ax-crazy Suicopath.
    • Funnily enough, her victory in the 2021 Mario Kart 8 DX tournament collaboration is exactly why every other girl are trying to avoid Group B, the group both her and Aqua are in for the 2022 DX race. Suisei herself finds it funny that the other girls are going out of their way to not get set up in that group.
    • Playing Rust reinforces this. Koyori got killed by Suisei in their first encounter to the point the latter took her MP5, and found Sakura who was on her way to her house. And then both her and Sakura got ambushed by her. And then after getting revived, Suisei decides to return her MP5, only to shoot her anywaynote . In her stream of the game, when she went to the snow area for loot, and Miko also happens to be in the area, Miko decides to scare her with warning shots. Once she finds out Miko was in the area, she camps inside a warehouse where her horse is in, and riddles her with bullets. And then Pekora decides to destroy her house, she was also fighting Miko at the time and stealing her items, and once Pekora gets shot, the latter pleads for her life in order for Suisei to not kill her. And then Matsuri, who has been relentlessly bullying her friends in Rust, wisely chose not to pick a fight with her.
  • Driven by Envy: Played for Laughs upon her first visit to hololive English's Minecraft server. On one side of the server's entrance tunnel, she notices a bunch of signs left by Japanese members gushing about their "dates" with the English members (conveniently glossing over the fact Sora, Kanata and Pekora came and left by themselves), prompting a quick "normies explode" from her and writing a sign reading "Loners are the best!" on the other side of the entrance tunnel in protest.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Predictably, she has played Grand Theft Auto V and becomes interested in the game, her driving skills are left to be desired (ironically, her starting character Franklin Clinton has the highest driving stat). She spends the majority of the stream deliberately running people over with her car. After watching her stream, her mother apparently sent her a message on LINE saying "Let me drive."
  • Enfante Terrible: Told Akai Haato a story one time when she accidentally killed a frog by crushing it to death. Haato's reaction was calling Suisei a psychopath.
  • Engrish: On the end of her third Getting Over It stream, her constant failures that she started reading English comments, and her unique way of speaking and pronouncing English made her fans coin the term "Suinglish".
  • Epic Fail: In the EN/JP/ID Among Us collaboration, she made uncharacteristic blunders despite her performance in the previous collaboration where she only died once. This is due to language barrier, and when she tries to explain what she was doing, no one believes her, and she gets ejected. When she finally gets the chance to play an Impostor, she almost made the same mistakes as Miko. Her saving grace however is saying "I don't speak English" and Calliope didn't voted against her despite Gura being proven correct. Fans however speculate that she sounded very tired since anyone following her on Twitter knows that she went to work on that day, and work fatigue is the reason for the blunders. There's also the fact that in that particular instance Suisei did understand most of what was being said in that meeting, and used her not speaking english line as a last ditch effort to throw everyone off too much to vote her off.
  • Establishing Character Moment:
    • Her performance as a Traitor during Project Winter games has established her reputation as an Ax-Crazy psychopath among her fans and work partners alike.
    • Invokes this when Generation 5 was planning to play Minecraft together, and so Haachama and Subaru hatched a plan to blow up a large image of YAGOO while also blowing themselves up. The plan backfires as the TNT destroys the man-made platform, and just burn themselves to death. To G5's complete utter confusion.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite her sociopathy, she gets shocked in her GTAV run when she accidently runs over a dog. The same stream reveals that she has issues against abandoning animals, and that animals/pets are like family.
  • Evil Is Petty:
    • While she's one of the nicest girls, she is extremely petty when her Competition Freak tendencies leak out with her Comedic Sociopathy, such as butchering her friends in Project Winter or when she insults her would-be opponents in online games. Thief Simulator showcases that she enjoys shattering toilets on her way out.
    • When she was compromised by Gura in the Hololive JPN/ENG/INDO collaboration, she was singled out by her when she walked by Risu's body whom she killed not even seconds ago and Gura took notice. After playing dumb against Gura, she decides to target her, and killed off Gura when the gate opens right in front of Nene.
Doors shut as Gura's following Calliope, separating her and leaving her alone with Suisei and Watson, both Impostors, and Gura starts panicking
Suisei: Gura...you've been suspecting me a lot, haven't you?
  • Evil Laugh: Can sport a truly hearty one when she's enjoying herself too much or when she finally defeats a hardest A.I. at Speed.
  • Exorcist Head: She discovered how to rotate her head in MineCraft in unexpected ways. Mainly to creep her friends out when she isn't streaming and playing the game on her free time.

Probably okay (lore, character design, scripted content)
  • Art Evolution: Her avatar was designed by herself, which gave a much basic design and she also designed most of her clothes until Teshima Nari became her artist. From then on her model was remade in collaboration with her input.
  • Ascended Fangirl:
    • As a fan of the Love Live! anime series, she ordered the Love Live! Sunshine!! album Saint Snow but mistaken its released date. Then Asami Tano found out and retweeted her Twitter post about it and even attended her Karaoke, to her surprise. And now, she gets to host Music Space with Tano as her guest.
    • She is also a fan of Cardfight!! Vanguard due to her sister getting her into it, with Shadow Paladin being her preferred deck in Zero. She eventually had a limited Japanese-exclusive event as a card, played the game on stream, and did a stream with Bushiroad's president.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: During her off-collab with Aqua, Kanata, and Coco; she has a male persona called "Meteor-kun".
  • Bokukko: Only in songs, since the word "boku" rides off the lyrics on her songs better (listen to GHOST for an example). She uses Third-Person Person and "watashi" when referring to herself.
  • Catchphrase: Sui-chan wa... kyou mo kawaii! translation
  • Cosmic Motifs: Stars and Comets. All of her costumes have some form of star motif, either in the form of individual stars or in the form of a starry-sky print. Her eyes even have star-shaped glints. And then, of course there's her name.
  • Costume Evolution: Along with Art Evolution, her first outfits were made by herself, and she would switch between costumes either during talk streams or music videos. Come 2019, after her Art Evolution, her permanent main outfit is a gray plaid outfit along with a hat with a crown. Her skirt shows her star motif along with two chains. She also has a blue kimono in when she wears occasionally and New Years, and her 2020 outfit is a sleeveless shirt, a new hat, a sidetail, a large jacket, orange socks, and a longer skirt and a pair of glasses. She occasionally removes the glasses and jacket in some streams.* Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • While her Comedic Sociopathy is consistent, during her early years, she had a high-pitched voice, her model (created by herself) often looked stiff, and appeared emotionless, even when she reacts to something. Her model since December 2019 has more fluid animation and emotional range, and her voice isn't as high-pitch. She returns with the model in January 30, 2021 after being demonetized on the day before as a re-debut. And then she visited a fan website dedicated to her where she decided to watch her old videos that were posted there, and the way her tone speaks when she hears her own voice in 2018 is cringe to her.
    • This was discussed in the HoloTalk Q&A session with Kiara Takanashi. She explained when VTubing was becoming a thing, she made her own model way before she joined hololive proper while independent. After Nari became her official artist, she felt her old model was missing something, and wished she could have done better with it.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Her iris highlight has stars.

    Not sure
  • The Ace: mixed examples
    • She is a very powerful singer and her peers are not shy about praising her ability. For outside testimonials, she amazed music industry veteran Taku Inoue when they were collaborating for his first major label debut, with him judging her very first recording submission of the song 3:12 to be more than good enough to use for the final product. probably tropeworthy
    • On the gaming side of things, Suisei is also a monster at Tetris, much to the amazement (and sometimes a bit of horror) of the people who dare challenge her. She's considered to be something of The Dreaded among Hololive talents in this regard, as nobody would be brave enough to dare playing against her, and the one time IRyS (actually Baelz posing as her) casually implied that she would like to challenge the singer to a Tetris match, the chat overwhelmingly begged her not to for her (IRyS's) own good. The only time she's ever lost at Tetris against a Vtuber was with Haato (with a set she was trying to use) and Shigure Ui with *only* handicaps, since Ui wanted to to handicap her and only lost once (17 wins, one loss at Puyo Puyo Tetris). probably not tropeworthy
  • Adaptational Villainy:
  • Ambiguously Human: Despite having an appearance similar to a human, she proclaims herself that she isn't one. Upon being asked what species she is, she stated herself as an "idol". She also claims that she ages once every 250 years, a trait that isn't particular to humans, but alluding to invokedlong-period comet's revolution period.
  • Canon Discontinuity: Pieces was initially designated as Suisei's fourth original song, and was affiliated with BiliBili. However, as a result of the Taiwan incident and Cover Corp being considered Persona Non Grata, GHOST was chosen as her fourth original song instead. is political motivation tropeworthy enough?
  • Creator Breakdown: Also discussed in-universe. Her own songs are actually based around this. This is heavily prominent with Tenkyuu and GHOST, especially the latter and explained to Kiara the context behind it. She not only wants to be remembered for her own accomplishments, but that other Vtubers shouldn't be forgotten as well as a Take That! towards people who dislike Vtubers after their increasing rise in popularity. i think this is a production thing?
  • Crossover: She is good friends with Inui Toko from Nijisanji. Like Suisei, she is also regarded as one of the most talented singers of her respective company and the two regularly record duets for each other's channels. not sure if this is stream only
  • Cute and Psycho: Gained a reputation with her fans as a psychopath, stemming from her ruthlessness in Project Winter whenever she's one of the traitors and expanding into any game or situation where there's an option to be horrifically violent. Sometimes she continues to play this trope straight, other times she comically denies allegations of her psychopathy, but in general she's pretty amused at her fans' perception of her. It's even invokedAscended Fanon in the Hololive animated shorts, where she kills Miko, Rushia, and Ayame by using them as Tetris blocks cheerfully in her debut episode. probably only the bit about Holo Gra is tropeworthy
  • Determinator: mixed examples, probably only the bullet points about her career and idol-related practice are tropeworthy
    • She was actually rejected from a hololive audition at least once, but that never stopped her from pursuing her independent Virtual YouTuber career. Fast forward a year and her 3D debut within hololive has the production values of an actual idol concert and it's associated twitter hashtag was a #1 trend globally. Fubuki, who had the most subscribers at the time, firmly believed Suisei should be the one with the most subs after seeing her 3D concert.
    • When it comes to gacha games, she won't stop rolling. Whenever she plays a gacha game on and off-stream, she is determined to get the gacha she wants, which includes paid and unpaid gacha.
    • She spent 6 hours determined to beat VIP mode in Tetris 99, and finally manages to beat it despite having to eat during those 6 hours, and facing the exact same stream snipers over and over again, despite the chat's concern for her health. Her determination was so great that her chat went from being concerned for her health and sleep schedule to cheering her on until she managed to get first place.
    • When she joined with Aqua and Towa for the gamer maid's first and last tournament, she sacrificed all of her free time and a lot of her sleep to improve by leaps and bounds because she wants to properly support Aqua in the latter's only tournament showing.
    • Work-related, she spends most of her time practicing singing and dancing that she only streams when she has the time. It's through her own hard work that she is constantly improving her singing voice, though there are times where she sounds visibly tired during talk streams. But it pays off on how much she wants to work on the songs she wants to cover and her personal efforts behind them.
  • Dissonant Serenity: She is rather casual with all the death and destruction she causes in multiplayer games or games that even allows her to do it. Such as killing her friends in Project Winter or being chased by a bear.
  • Double Take: When she's knocked out of musical chairs, she looks at the camera twice in disbelief due to the fact that she lost to Miko.
