  • Ocean's Eleven: After the crew has successfully pulled off the heist, they stand in front of the fountain at the Bellagio hotel before separately walking off, while "Clair de Lune" plays in the background.

Literature

Music

  • Art of Noise's fifth and final studio album, The Seduction of Claude Debussy, is a Concept Album that explores Debussy's life, artistry, and legacy, featuring various quotations from his works.

Video Games

  • Carmen Sandiego: Claire d'Loon, named after "Clair de Lune".
  • Mirrors leading to the Asylum play a rendition of "Clair de Lune" whenever the player comes near one in The Evil Within. The gentle melody instantly conveys a welcome reprieve from the many, many horrors you encounter in the game.
  • The chapter titles of Fuga: Melodies of Steel (barring the first, "Night Without End") and its sequel (also barring the first, "The Devil in the Belfry") are named after Debussy's works, such as "Serenade for the Doll", "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun", "The Wounded Laurel", "Flower of the Wheat Fields" or "The Game of Knucklebones".
  • "Clair de Lune" is the title of Level 1-4 in ULTRAKILL, and the titular piece plays during the level up until you reach the boss of the level.

Western Animation

  • Family Guy: one gag has a music store clerk raving at length about his love of Debussy's work, but his thick accent makes it sound like he's saying something… rather different.
Store Clerk: Oh, Debussy! I love Debussy! Sometimes, all I can think about is Debussy! Oh, look at the pianist! The pianist is so good with Debussy!
Peter: So you like his early work?
Store Clerk: Oh, yes! When Debussy was young; that's when you want Debussy!
Peter: Okay, I'll take these two. [holds up albums by Bach and Debussy]
Store Clerk: Very good, sir. Just make sure you finish on the Bach; never finish on Debussy.
[Offscreen audience cheers and throws roses]
  • Rocky and Bullwinkle has this exchange during "The Three Mooseketeers":
Athos: You want my advice, pay the taxes.
Filet Mignon: But he is a tyrant!
    Athos: Pay the taxes.
Filet Mignon: He thinks "Claire de Lune" is a girl.
Athos: That is different. We will fight!
