Go To

Original release date: 01/23/2023

The year is 1477. Lord Richard and Sir Edrick successfully escape from King John Koopa VI's troops, but soon learn that Rickon and Tobias have been taken hostage under Queen Cynder's orders. At the suggestion of Lord Ghaston Thornton, Richard decides to rally up an army against the king and all of his corrupt advisors to save his sons and bring peace to the realm. Meanwhile, the tensions among the nobility keep rising, with Berwick and Torrence withdrawing from the royal cabinet and joining forces with Lord Richard following the release of Lord Sigmund Phoenix from the Black Tower, and Lord Richard being declared an enemy to the throne, with King John, Queen Cynder and Lord Sigmund deciding to fight back aginst his forces.

If it's tropes they want... then it's tropes they shall receive!

  • Affectionate Nickname: Rose calls Torrence "Uncle Tory".
  • Any Last Words?: Before executing Sigmund, Richard tells him to say his final words, and to keep them "short and sweet", Sigmund's answer to this is "ductile pastries".
  • Big "WHAT?!": Cynder has this reaction when Rodrick informs her that Lord Richard escaped and avoided arrest.
  • Bloodless Carnage: Despite the Sword Fight and four confirmed major deaths (a stab in the heart, a sliced neck, a sliced stomach, and a beheading, though the last one is not shown on screen), none of the characters bleed. However this is probably to compile with YouTube's rules regarding violence and gore.
  • Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: It's revealed that the wine-like beverage Lord Thornton drinks is made of spices, berries and Scuttlebugs.
  • Compliment Backfire: When comforting Jane over her concern for Rose, Korrin tells her that everything will be fine, and calls her "my deliciousness", which confuses Jane. Korrin excuses himself, saying that he is still working on his compliments.
  • A Death in the Limelight: Lord Herard Bane, who had been a very minor character in the past two episodes, has a bigger role during this part of "The Feeble King", only to get killed during the Battle of Whomp City.
  • Cool Uncle: It's shown that Torrence is one to Rose, comforting her about the war, ensuring her that Lady Jane Phoenix won't turn against her over the tension between Richard and John, and that when everything is over, he'll take her to Bright Valley to visit Jane. This also marks a huge contrast with Jorgon, who is far more strict to Rose.
  • Dirty Coward: Sigmund, who is supposed to be the commander of the Kayenne forces, hides in a barn during the whole duration of the Battle of Whomp City, not even bothering to help his own son, who gets hit by three arrows. When learning of King John VI's capture by the Sherbet forces, Sigmund decides to flee the battlefield, but to prevent history from repeating itself, Sigmund is restrained by Richard's forces before getting away, with the duke of Sherbet Land himself executing him for all of his crimes and selfish deeds.
  • Damsel in Distress: In order to prove his loyalty to the monarchs, Lord Garnet betrays and kidnaps Lady Anna, offering her to Queen Cynder as a slave. Anna also joins her brothers Rickon and Tobias as another one of Cynder's hostages.
  • Distressed Dude: Tobias and Rickon are arrested and imprisoned in the Black Tower under Cynder's orders, with this being one of Richard's main reasons to go to war against King John's advisors. Later on, the brothers are joined by their sister Anna, who had been betrayed by Lord Garnet and handed over to Cynder as a slave.
  • Exact Words: Before beheading Lord Sigmund, Lord Richard tells him to say his final words, and to keep them "short and sweet". Sigmund answers with "ductile pastries", and is killed right after.
  • Foreshadowing: In this episode, Korrin is first shown doing archery and missing the target, hitting someone else by accident. In the Battle of Whomp City, Lord Thornton has his men shoot arrows at the Kayenne forces when they least expect, with one of them hitting Korrin in the shoulder.
  • Gentle Touch vs. Firm Hand: Jorgon and Torrence are very different when it comes to treating their nieces. Jorgon is shown to be very strict and blunt when it comes totelling Rose to pack her things and leave for Sherbet Land, whereas Torrence is a Cool Uncle, being calm and soft and comforting Rose about the war, ensuring her that she will se Rickon and Jane again once things calm down.
  • Hostage Situation: Rickon and Tobias are imprisoned under Cynder's orders, as she intends to keep them as bargaining chips to blackmail Richard. Later on Lord Garnet betrays and hands over Richard's daughter Lady Anna over to Cynder, who keeps Anna as her personal slave.
  • It Has Been an Honor: Edrick's last words to Richard before succumbing to his injuries are "it's been an honor, my lord..."
  • Kick the Dog: During the battle against the elder Sherbet brothers, Lord Garnet mocks them over Lady Anna, saying that he "hopes" that Cynder is not too cruel to her
  • Killed Off for Real: Three major characters are killed off in this episode: Lord Symon Blackfoot (who has his neck sliced by Lord Berwick), Lord Sigmund Phoenix (who is executed by decaptiation by Lord Richard), and Sir Edrick greyford (who has his stomach sliced by Lord Sigmund and then succumbs to his injuries). Lord Herard Bane, who had been a minor character up until this episode, also dies, being stabbed in the heart by Lord Richard.
  • Knight Templar Big Brother: Robert and Halbert are far from pleased when they learn Lord Garnet betrayed their sister Anna and handed her over to Queen Cynder, who is keeping her hostage. Both brothers charge furiously at Lord Garnet, with the only reason why Robert didn't finish him off being that Berwick needed back-up.
  • The Oathbreaker: Lord Gerald Garnet honored a pact with Lord Richard Koopa when he was married off to his daughter Anna, as well as promising her brother Halbert that he would treat her with respect. Turns out he was lying all along, as he kidnaps Anna and hands her over to Queen Cynder, who makes Anna her personal slave so she can blackmail Richard along with Tobias and Rickon.
  • Off with His Head!: By the end of the episode, Richard has Sigmund executed by decapitation, cutting his head off with his sword.
  • One-Steve Limit: While two or more characters sharing the same name is very common in this series, the male Blackfoots are an exaggeration, with most of them being named "Symon", and having to use nicknames to differentiate one another. Truth in Television, as nearly every single male from the House of Percy (whom the House of Blackfoot is directly based off) was named "Henry".
  • Papa Wolf: Richard learning that Rickon and Tobias, and later on Anna as well, are being held hostage under Cynder's orders is what finally pushes him over the edge and causes him to declare war against King John VI and his corrupt advisors.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Richard lets out one after the Kayenne forces reject negotiations:
Richard: If it's a fight they want... then it's a fight they shall receive!
  • It's Personal:
    • While Richard already had a lot of problems with John VI's corrupt advisors, him learning that Cynder had ordered for Rickon and Tobias to be imprisoned is what finally pushes him to rise up an army against Bright Valley, which is a feeling that only becomes bigger when he learns that Lord Garnet betrayed him and handed over his daughter Anna to Cynder, who keeps her as a slave and hostage.
    • Robert and Halbert charge furiously at Lord Garnet once they learn that he betrayed their sister Anna and handed her over to Queen Cynder as a slave.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After being informed of King John being captured by the Sherbet forces, Lord Sigmund decides to flee the battlefield. Unlike what happened at the Nordskal Ridge Campaign however, he doesn't manage to get far and actually answers for his crimes this time... with his life.
  • Slasher Smile: Thornton lets out one of these right before commanding his army to strike the Kayenne forces with arrows by surprise. It's worth mentioning that this is one of the few times Thornton changes his expression.
  • Sympathy for the Hero: Despite gladly holding Lady Anna as a slave when given the opportunity, Cynder does feel slightly bad for her, as she was betrayed by Lord Garnet, who she thought would have a loving marriage with. Cynder tells Anna she relates to her, as she too had all of her illusions regarding her marriage with John shattered in front of her in a matter of seconds.
  • Tempting Fate: When Lord Tybolt points out that their forces are losing the battle, Lord Sylver tells him to calm down, as they still have King John with them. Just in that moment, Berwick's army enter the barn the three of them were hiding in, successfully capturing John.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Lord Herard Bane dies in this episode. He essentially lacked a role in the previous two episodes and was only getting major screentime during this one.
