Stopping at a market looking for a map to Oma Island, Yugo and company find that the area is being harassed by a mysterious warrior called the Black Crow.

- Cute, but Cacophonic: Miranda, Kabrok's wife, is a charming, seductive Ecaflip lady with a sultry voice... except when she calls for her husband, with a harsh voice powerful enough to push people back.
- Distracting Disambiguation: During their second encounter, Yugo sidetracks the situation by pointing out that the Black Crow's name is a bit repetitive, as crows are black naturally.
- The Dog Was the Mastermind: The Black Crow's identity is the Henpecked Husband.
- Dramatic Unmask: The Black Crow tries to invoke this, by the mask gets stuck, making it a Failed Attempt at Drama. Ruel has to help him with the latch.
- Failure Hero: Discussed; after the Crow's first attack, a sullen Yugo apologize to a merchant for failing to protect the stalls, but the man doesn't hold anything against him and says that at least he tried.
- Foreshadowing: Miranda's Snuffle indicates that Ruel has the most riches of all the party members even if he denies. This becomes plot-relevant in episode 10.
- Graceful Loser: Satisfied with his last duel, the Black Crow gives in the map without complaining, compliments the heroes and later, even if he's sullen, he still spontaneously congratulates and encourages Yugo.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Yugo defeats the Black Crow by redirecting the latter's attack with the former's portal powers.
- MacGuffin: Skribble, the living Shushu map which can lead the heroes to Oma Island.
- "Not So Different" Remark: The Black Crow claims he and Ruel are alike, as they are both old-timers who have trouble settling down and giving up the adventurer's lifestyle.
- Wake-Up Call Boss: Invoked; the Black Crow presents himself as one for the party: if they win, they get the World Map they need, if they loses, he takes all their belongings and their adventure ends there.
