"Confessions" is issue #13 of Ultimate Spider-Man, a Breather Episode between the "Learning Curve" and "Double Trouble" arcs.Peter Parker calls Mary Jane home, and shares a big secret with her: that he is Spider-Man. Initially, she thinks it's a big joke, but Peter proves it by walking in the roof. Then she is shocked by it, and then interested in everything about it. Things lead to them about to share a kiss...
...until Aunt May, the hanky-panty police, shows up and stop them before they do "that" thing. Two teenagers alone in a room and some screams are heard, what else can they be doing?

- Almost Kiss: Peter and Mary Jane are about to kiss, but Aunt May interrupted them. Thinking that they were doing something a bit more XXX than that, she intervened to make sure that there was no hanky-panty under her roof.
- And I'm the Queen of Sheba: Peter and MJ are alone in Peter's room, and MJ screamed. May asks what's happening. "We're studying!" "And I'm Katie Couric!"
- Blade Reflection: The cover shows Spider-Man's mask in Peter's hand, reflecting Mary Jane's shocked face in the eyes.
- Blatant Lies: Aunt May keeps asking what's going on at Peter's room, and both him and MJ insist that they were "studying". They were not having sex, as May feared, but they were not studying either.
- Breather Episode: This is a single-issue story between two long arcs, and contains no superhero action.
- Cassandra Truth: Mary Jane's second reaction, after the Flat "What", was to laugh. Peter Parker, Spider-Man? Yes, he has to prove it.
- Celebrity Is Overrated: Mary Jane points that Peter is now like a rockstar. And yes, he is... except for the money, fame and everything good that would come from such a thing.
- Did I Just Say That Out Loud?: Overwhelmed by the huge reveal that she had just heard, MJ confessed "Wow! And to think I thought you were just going to kiss me". Yes, she said out loud, and Peter heard it. So, she thought that, and came to his room anyway, so...
- Face Fault: When Peter said he was Spider-man, Mary Jane laughed so hard that she fell to the ground in laughter.
- Flat "What"
- MJ's first reaction to Peter's reveal was to ask "What? What did you just say?"
- And then Peter fell to it, when MJ mentioned that she just thought he was going to kiss her.
- Is This a Joke?: Even after watching him walk in the walls, Mary Jane is still not completely sure if Peter is telling the truth or playing some complex prank.
- Mood Whiplash: Mary Jane is having a romantic moment with Peter, just about to have her first kiss... and suddenly, she has to go home and empty the litter box.
- Mythology Gag: When they were about to kiss, MJ said "Face it, tiger, you just hit the jackpot". That's the line mainstream Mary Jane said when she ceased being The Unseen and was actually introduced in comics.
- "No. Just… No" Reaction: MJ wants Peter to take her swinging around. "No". She insists, begs, but the answer is still "no".
- Not Me This Time: May calls MJ's mom, who orders her to go home and clean the cat's litter box. She will not allow Peter and MJ to have sex under her roof... but they were not doing any of that!
- The Reveal: Peter reveals his secret identity for the first time.
- Secret Identity: This issue discussed it at some length.
- Secret-Keeper: Before the reveal, Peter insisted to Mary Jane that he was about to turn her into his secret keeper. He insisted so much about it that MJ started to get upset.
- Sexual Euphemism: Aunt May prevented Peter and MJ from having sex, reminded them to be "safe", and asked if he already had The Talk with Ben or needs more information. All without using any specific terms.
- What If?: In-Universe, Peter explains that he got his powers from that giant spider in Oscorp. The spider that landed on MJ's chest, before they could dispose of it. MJ realizes that, if the spider had bitten her as well, she would be Spider-Man, too!
