Go To

"It's July, so it's time to get patriotic as heroes from across American media (or, at least, are HEAVILY America-influenced) are sent to an obviously creepy 50's town. How long until this play whittles down their ranks? Or sanities? Whichever comes first."

The 18th episode, written in July of 2022. The teams are as follows…

-Team 1 (Baskerra Hellmane): Jersey Devil (13th Child: Legend of the Jersey Devil), Robert, Florida, and Bigfoot (2012 movie).

-Team 2 (Ebirah Mariana): Berserker Yautja, a Xenomorph, Dark Claw, and Lobo.

-Team 3 (Sharon Shark): Michelangelo, Jessica Rabbit, Lola Bunny, and a Giganotosaurus.

-Team 4 (A Fan): Bonkers Betty, The Soldier, Angel Dust, and Morbius.

-Team 5 (Theodore Esbin): Nuke, Stan Smith, Major Glory, and Peacemaker.

-Team 6 (QuinLova): Yang Xiao Long, Osana Najimi, Postal Dude, and Steve Haines.

  • The '50s: The aesthetic of the town everyone has to fight in, with several monsters from 50s horror flicks showing up as well.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Despite the two never interacting in the show, Vortex and Mrs. Mayberry are dating in this continuity.
  • Alternate Self: Dark Claw is a mashup of Batman and Wolverine and Bonkers Betty is a version of Wonder Woman that focuses on hating men more than anything else.
  • Arson Murder And Jay Walking: When Stan finds a Martian that looks similar to Roger, he decides to vent his frustrations with him out on the poor Martian by punching it:
Stan Smith: "This is for being a little bitch! This is for maxing out my credit card! This is because I feel like it!"
  • As the Good Book Says...: Joshua says several Bible quotes during his stay.
  • Ax-Crazy: Several of them show up, including Robert and Duke.
  • Beneath Suspicion: The reason no one goes after Robert is because not only would no one normally think a tire has any powers at all, but also because he looks like a tire that came out from a car crash.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The Gignotosaurus saves Jenna from a pack of robots that were about to kill her.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: A Bigfoot shows up as part of Baskerra's team.
  • Big "NO!": Moxxie screams one when Mrs. Mayberry asks if he's okay while the missiles are trying to kill them in the Bloodbath.
  • Big "OMG!": Joseph has one when his ripple goes crazy just by being near All Might.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Dallas yells at Ellis to 'SHUT THE FUCK UP' As Ellis is telling a story while the missiles are raining down on them.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: A lot of the deaths here are a lot more brutal than normal this time around.
  • Blood Lust: Duke drinks the blood pouring out of Angel Dust's head.
  • Blow You Away: Franky air blasts several contestants and creatures, usually killing them.
  • The Bus Came Back: The Xenomorph, Jessica Rabbit, Lola Bunny, The Soldier, Yang, Jenna, and Fifi Lafume all return from previous Arenas.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: When Joseph sees the missiles heading for him and Franky, he predicts that Franky's next line will be "WHAT ABOUT OUR SCREENTIME?!".
    • Angel Dust laments that he shook his booty for the episode, and he's just a footnote in it.
  • Call-Back: Ken once again calls to Capcom when he thinks that death is coming for him.
  • Camera Abuse: During the second 50s intro, Michelangelo shakes the camera asking the audience for help before being tasered and Chip Skylark’s teeth are so shiny they break the lenses of the camera.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Ellis:
Ellis: "Wanna catch radio-waves with each-other's teeth?"
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Several characters receive some horrific deaths in this:
    • Bigfoot gets shot in the eye and then is absorbed by a blob creature.
    • The Jersey Devil gets a log lodged into his head, but he survives this...long enough to feel himself get eaten by some of the creatures in the forest.
    • Jessica Rabbit gets melted by Xenomorph blood when Robert blows its head off with the redhead at close proximity.
    • Lola gets her ears torn off, gutted, and filled with lead by Duke.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Mrs. Mayberry shows signs of this after seeing Wilykit humping Vortex’s leg. Though considering how her last relationship went...
  • Curse Cut Short: When Peacemaker trips and sees the body of the Mantis about to land on him, he lets out a "MOTHERFU-" before it crushes him.
  • Dangerous Windows: Jessica Rabbit gets dragged out of a car window by a Xenomorph while her team is trying to flee after witnessing the Postal Dude’s death.
  • Death Seeker: Ken begins to wish for someone or something to kill him after losing everything he had.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: Several of the deaths come from missiles blowing them up.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: Like with Crazy Steve, Bonkers Betty repeats lines of dialogue as part of Frank Miller’s writing style.
Bonkers Betty: "Men...all worthless men...I should have your heads. Worthless men."
  • Deliberate Values Dissonance: A lynch mob forms trying to kill Vortex in his disguised form and when Major Glory suggests that women can vote too criticizes the treatment of colored people and the sexism in the 50s.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Franky gets the Jersey Devil killed because it took the last Cola.
  • Driven to Suicide: Believing that the Arena is Purgatory, Joshua Graham decides to walk into the path of the mutated Paleosaurus's rays to escape it.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Both times it's from tripping: Sir Pentious dies from tripping on a rock and Bandit Keith ends up tripping into the path of a Rolls Royce.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Angel Dust gets wasted at a bar after his unsuccessful attempt at bedding Lobo. Ken also tries to do this, but is disappointed that the alcohol isn’t stronger than it should be.
  • Eaten Alive: Bigfoot and The Jersey Devil suffer this fate.
  • Epic Fail: Sir Pentious dying from tripping on a rock. Despite having no legs.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Stan Smith is taken back by Duke's willingness to kill anyone that isn't as patriotic as he is.
  • Everybody Lives: For the first time in an Arena, no one dies during the Bloodbath. This does not last long however.
  • Expy: Major Glory gets called one of Superman.
  • Eye Scream: Joshua shoots Bigfoot in one of his eyes, causing it to stumble into a blob creature that eats him.
  • Faint in Shock: Fifi does this when alien blood splatters onto her.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Robert manages to survive his fight against the Giganotosaurus, but falls into an ice flow and sinks to the bottom, ensuring there's no way he's coming back. Worse yet, he's probably going to freeze over in a time where technology wasn't that good.
  • Flat "What": Bonkers Betty's only reaction to Morbius saying that 'it's Morbin time'.
  • Flipping the Bird: Yang does this to the Arena before dying.
  • Freak Out: Lola has a panic attack over finding Michalengelo's corpse and ends up firing Soldier's rocket launcher when she finds it during so.
  • Get a Hold of Yourself, Man!: Mrs. Mayberry slaps Moxxie when he's panicking from the barrage of missiles.
  • Groin Attack:
    • Bandit Keith does this to the Gillman during their fight.
    • Angel Dust is on the receiving end of this from the floating sentient state of Florida.
    • Jessica does this to the Man from Planet X when it attacks her team. She tries to do this to the Xenomorph, with no luck.
    • Bonkers Betty does this to Ellis after he saves her from a leech with a bat.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Wilykit’s upper half gets vaporized when a glitch causes the barrier to contract.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: At first it seemed that Ken had fallen HARD after we last saw him in Episode 1. Going from a capable fighter that managed to defeat several fighters with ease to being a miserable wreck after a messy divorce where he lost custody of the kids and losing his NFT collection. However, the Ken from this Arena was revealed to be a fake.
  • I'm Melting!: Jessica horrifically suffers this fate when she ends up at point blank range of the Xenomorph’s blood.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Major Glory blows a Metaluna Mutant into an umbrella which impales its head.
    • Morbius lands on a caveman blade which doesn't kill him, but leaves him open for Captain America's shield to finish him off.
    • Yang gets killed by a mailbox that was sent flying when the house that Joseph and Franky were in got blown up.
  • Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: Mrs. Mayberry fails to land a shot on a crowd that's chasing her, Vortex, and Moxxie.
  • Improbable Infant Survival: Kodi and Moros manage to survive the Arena long enough to get to the portal back to their world. Though they did stick with Jenna and the Giganotosaurus, who mostly did their own thing away from everyone else.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Angel Dust immediately asks where the beer is in his Team Introduction.
  • Joke Character: The State of Florida and Bonkers Betty are this by default while the Ken impostor became one due to being miserable as a result of recent events in his life.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: Moxxie dies while he's concerned about the way the Jersey Devil's talons are bending.
    • Graham Aker dies when a sauropod's body crushes him while he's boasting about Japan's might.
  • Killer Rabbit: Robert is a tire that can kinetically blow people's heads off.
  • Killed Offscreen: Joe gets eaten by the Giganotosaurus during the monster attacks on everyone else.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Bandit Keith throws a rock at Jenna's leg to leave her as bait for the robots that are attacking them. Then when the Giganotosaurus tears the head off one of them and throws it into the distance, it hits Keith and knocks him out.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: As Osana is dragging the Postal Dude through the Bloodbath, she hopes that they have Plot Armor.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: Chroma, Steve, and Osana get reduced to this after a missile ridden by Lobo rams into them.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: A volley of missiles get sent towards everyone during the Bloodbath, but no one gets killed by them. Two more attempts are made with this in the Sixth chapter (One of them caused by Lola) with much more successful results.
  • Meat-O-Vision: Morbius sees his teammates as money bags after the disappointing second opening of his film.
  • Mood Killer: What sexual intent Chip and Wilykit had vanishes when they see Stan getting beaten up by an enlarged cricket.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: Several characters with this mindset show up here, most notably Stan Smith and Nuke (though the latter is to PSYCHOTIC extents).
  • Neck Snap: How the Jersey Devil kills Moxxie.
  • No Body Left Behind: Florida ends up glitching out of existence after being thrown into the barrier by Lobo.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Ellis saving Bonkers Betty from a leech leads to her kicking his groin, leaving him vulnerable to a missile.
  • Nominal Hero: Since the Giganotosaurus is an animal of the wild, all it cares about is eating and fending off any potential threats. With that said, he does grow a bond with Jenna and her kids, and attacks Robert when it becomes clear that it wants to kill them.
  • Noodle Incident: After Unikitty accidentally kills The Soldier by giving him a heart attack by surprising him, she laments 'not again' and that Puppycorn isn't here to dig the holes.
  • "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: Baskerra says this when describing Bonkers Betty's reason for hating men is because they were worthless unless they were as strong as Superman.
  • Off with His Head!: The Giganotosaurus does this twice: The first time he tears off the head of a robot and throws it away. The second time is when he bites off Michaelangelo’s head trying to get a meal, only to spit it out because it hates the mutagen blood.
    • Morbius gets accidentally decapitated by Captain America's shield.
    • Nuke blows the head off a Triceratops and rips Angel Dust's head off.
  • Oh, Crap!: Every other member of Sharon's team has this reaction when Jessica’s pipe wakes up the Giganotosaurus, their last team member and a definite Wild Card due to his wild nature.
    • Yang says this verbatim after witnessing two of her teammates get rammed by a missile.
    • Mrs. Mayberry lets out an 'Ah, shit' when a bomb lands in her hands just before it explodes.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Robert wears a top hat at one point to blend in. It's enough to fool the citizens in the town.
  • Patriotic Fervor: Leans into the 'Mixed/Unclassifiable' category.
  • Potty Emergency: When Dallas shoves a carton of prune juice down John McClane's throat, John makes a beeline for the outhouse...which is then blown up by a missile with him in it.
  • Rocket Jump: The Soldier uses this to get across the Arena several times.
  • Rousing Speech: Jenna gives one to the Giganotosaurus to encourage him to defeat Robert, despite him being seemingly outclassed.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Peacemaker tries to run from a giant Praying Mantis knowing he's outmatched, but trips on a rock and is crushed by the body of the giant insect.
    • Bandit Keith flees the diner he was planning on robbing when the blob creature overruns it.
    • Angel Dust attempts to flee when Duke and Robert are going on a rampage, only to get caught and killed by Duke.
  • Squashed Flat: The fates of Captain America and the Berserker Predator.
  • Stepford Smiler: The residents of the town have this expression, with several characters noticing it.
  • Stepford Suburbia: The town everyone's trapped in, is actually called "Stepford". Everything is so artificial in this town, even the food is fake!
  • Tag Along Kid: Kodi and Moros, two of Jenna's kids, wind up in the Arena itself, but not as contestants. They later reunite with Jenna and team up with the Giganotosaurus.
  • Take That!: Frank Miller gets called out for turning Wonder Woman into a massive Straw Feminist.
    • Osama Najimi gets introduced as "Hailing from the failure known as Yandere Simulator."
    • One of the major reasons for the Ken impostor's current state is because he lost all of his NFTs.
    • The Soldier calls Mountain Dew 'Pisswater' after taking a drink of it.
    • Chip Skylark’s sudden allergic reaction to smoke bombs is called one for Butch Hartman adding new stuff to his show for even the briefest of moments of attention. That, and the contrived ways a plot would go that plagued the later episodes of the show.
  • Team Killer: The Giganotosaurus bites off Michelangelo’s head because it wanted a meal.
  • Tempting Fate: As The Soldier is rocket jumping to a Market Garden, he thinks that it won’t backfire in any way, only for Unikitty to jump out of some leaves and surprise him with a cake, which causes the Soldier to get a heart attack and die.
  • That's What She Said: Stan says this line after Bonkers Betty yells that she can’t die with a man on top of her, right before they get blown up by a missile.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: What Duke does to Lola.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Every returnee except for Jenna dies again.
  • Tom the Dark Lord: A psychotic tire that can blow people's heads off and becomes a colossus of rubble with dreams of conquest...and his name is Robert.
  • Torches and Pitchforks: An angry crowd forms over seeing Vortex in his human disguise and when Major Glory asks for the women to vote too.
  • Tranquil Fury: Mrs. Mayberry can barely hide her anger after seeing Wilykit trying to sleep with Vortex.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: The citizens in the town don’t have much of a reaction to all of the chaos caused by the contestants. The only times they actually react is when a family faints when the Giganotosaurus gets too close to them, Vortex's disguised form, and Major Glory's suggestion to let women vote.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Unikitty tries to make everyone she meets happy, including Robert.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Robert tortures Kodi to generate more power for him.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: When Captain America and Joe are attacked by a monster tarantula, Captain America asks Joe to use his rifle, Joe says he can’t because The Hayes Code prevents him from doing so.
  • Your Head A-Splode: Robert kills several contestants and creatures by using his telekinetic powers. It also gets Jessica killed when the Xenomorph's blood splatters onto her.

Winner: Giganotosaurus (Sharon Shark's pick)
