Recap / The Nostalgia Critic S 3 E 43

Go To

Release: November 9, 2010

Focus: Nostalgic commercials

This review contains examples of:

  • Anachronism Stew: Referenced during the Flintstones Christmas commercial:
Critic: [as Barney] Hey, Fred, how can we celebrate Christmas if Jesus isn't born yet? [as Fred] Just eat your fucking cereal.
  • Call-Back: "I'm a dinosaur.", first said in the My Pet Monster review.
  • He's Back!: At the end of the review, the Critic recovers from his depression when he remembers that he created his reviews for entertainment purposes.
  • Heroic BSoD: An example of the Critic starting the review with one.
  • Mondegreen Gaginvoked: In the construction toys commercial, The Critic mishears "make" as "bake".
  • Motor Mouth: The Critic is glad John Moschitta Jr. didn't narrate any audiobooks, and illustrates that by reading "Hamlet" really fast.
  • Song Parody: "Poor Jack" is given new words at the end of the review.
  • Skewed Priorities: At the end, the Critic was so caught up with the "Poor Jack" Song Parody that he initially runs off to save "Sandy Claws", only to realise he's been sidetracked from doing reviews. He asks Jesus, who responds, "Let him rot." So the Critic wraps up the episode as Oogie Boogie kills Santa.
  • Spit Take: Critic does one during the Wet Banana commercial.
  • Squickinvoked: The Critic is grossed out by Magic Potty Baby, as well as thinking about where Ecto Cooler came from.
  • Your Head Asplode: The Critic, after listening to John Moschitta Jr.'s "Hamlet" audiobook.

"Could that be mom on Wet Banana?"

Wet Banana

This innocent commercial for a water slide should have chosen a more innocent name.
