Go To

Heavy Meddle: Lincoln is being bullied at school but doesn't want the girls knowing about it since he fears they'll make it worse.

Making the Case: Lincoln films the girls' embarrassing moments and posts them on the Internet in order to win a contest at school.

"Heavy Meddle"

  • Advice Backfire: Lincoln's sisters' suggestion that he kiss his bully results in her giving him a black eye. Subverted as she does reciprocate his feelings shortly afterwards.
  • An Aesop:
    • Sometimes a bully might not be as mean as you think they are.
    • Getting involved in personal affairs can sometimes make it worse.
    • If someone has a valid reason of not wanting you in their way, it's best to stay out of it (at least first).
  • Baby See, Baby Do: When Lily's older sisters start squeeing, she does it too.
  • Beef Bandage: Lincoln's bully tosses up a steak for his black eye as a token of love.
  • Between My Legs: The sisternado between Lincoln's.
  • Bottle Episode: Inverted. This is the first episode where someplace other than the Loud house is shown.
  • Brick Joke: To keep Leni from noticing the gum in his hair, Lincoln covers it with a garbage can lid and tells her it's an "all the rage" fashion statement. Later, Leni is seen wearing the lid on her head, having believed the lie.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: Lincoln gets pantsed by the bully.
  • Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: The "message" of the episode seems to be that "when a bully is a girl, that's just her way to express her love". Notice also how the sisters went on Bully Hunter mode when they first thought that the bully was a boy.
  • Flowery Insult: Luan suggests that Lincoln tell the bully joke insults like "you're so ugly you have to trick-or-treat over the phone".
  • The Freelance Shame Squad: Every time Lincoln gets bullied, his schoolmates laugh and take photos of him at his expense.
  • The Ghost: Lincoln's bully is never seen. All that's revealed is that the bully is a girl and at the end, that her name is Ronnie Anne.
  • Gum In Hair: Lincoln gets a piece of gum stuck in his hair by a bully, and tries to get it out before his sisters notice, knowing they will want to intervene if they find out he was being bullied.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: When Lincoln's sisters confront the boy who they believe is Lincoln's bully, Lori says, "How dare you bully our brother! Only we get to do that!"
  • Hypocritical Humor: Lincoln expresses frustration that someone put an empty peanut butter jar back in the fridge. He then immediately does the same thing he was complaining about.
  • Jerkass Realization: The girls try to apologize to Lincoln when their efforts to help win over his "girlfriend" end with him getting a black eye, but he won't have any of it.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
    • The ruder sisters show that they have a soft side when they're seen caring about Lincoln.
    • It turns out that Ronnie Anne really does like Lincoln despite being a bully.
  • "Kick Me" Prank: The title card depicts Lincoln with a Kick Me sign on his back.
  • Loving Bully: The girls come to this conclusion when Lincoln says that his bully is a girl and convinced him. Subverted when said bully promptly clocks him in the eye for kissing her. Double Subverted when she gives him a steak for his eye and her phone number, telling him to text her.
  • Never Trust a Trailer: The scene where Lynn brings a boy home and the other girls surround and chastise him for bullying Lincoln is from this episode and it turns out to be wrong. The boy is innocent and the bully is actually a girl.
  • Not So Above It All: Lisa's not usually interested in petty emotional stuff (as she even points out) but even she goes "Squee!" when she finds out that the bully is a girl.
  • Not So Stoic: Even the stone-faced Lucy and Lisa make squee noises when they find out the bully is a girl.
  • "Open!" Says Me: Lynn opens Lincoln's door by kicking it when his sisters confront him about his bully problem.
  • Orphaned Punchline: Invoked by Luan's joke "If I were you, I'd choose the baboon". When Lincoln says he didn't get it, she claims she's yet to think of a setup for the joke.
  • Pants-Pulling Prank: The bully pulls Lincoln's pants down.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: When Lincoln went to kiss his bully (at the behest of his sisters, no less), he receives a punch to the face, resulting in a black eye. Subverted, when at the last second she takes it back by sending him a steak for his eye, along with her phone number.
  • Pun: When Luna sees Lincoln in the fridge, she says, "Rad way to chill out, bro!".
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Lincoln completely loses it and tears his sisters a new one after he gets a black eye as a result of their meddling. He planned on giving one to Ronnie Anne before his sisters found out about the bullying.
  • Rule of Three: Lincoln's "weather reports" happen three times.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Lola, who's the brattiest of Lincoln's sisters, advises him to tell the school principal about his bully problem—out of all the solutions that Lincoln's sisters came up with, this one makes the most sense.
  • Squee: The girls do this (i.e. make squealing noises) when they realize that Lincoln's bully is a girl.
  • Unwanted Assistance: Lincoln's attitude towards his sisters about everything.
  • Whoopee Cushion: One of the pranks Lincoln suffers is sitting on a whoopie cushion in the school cafeteria.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: Lincoln refuses to hit the bully, not because she's a girl but because he's not, in his words, "a savage".

"Making the Case"

  • An Aesop:
    • Humiliating your family isn't a good option. Humiliating yourself is.
    • As Luan put in the episode, you should never post a video of someone online without their permission first, as said video might hurt them in more ways than one.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Even though Lincoln lost the contest to the hamster, he still won back his sisters’ trust and they give him an award of his own.
  • Brick Break: In one of his past attempts to win a trophy, Lincoln entered a martial arts contest and tries to break a stack of wooden beams. He fails and ends up getting a broken arm, instead.
  • Brick Joke: After Luan films an embarrassing video of Clyde, she lets him know she would never post it without his permission. When Lincoln does the name, he fails to do such and posts the video, leaving his sisters furious with him and Luan chews him out for breaking the unspoken rule to never post something without someone's permission. Lampshaded when she adds it's "unspoken".
  • Broken Aesop:
    • "Don't promote bullying at school by recording videos of other people's embarrassing moments just for your classmates to make fun of." But for Lincoln, promoting bullying at school by recording a shameful video of himself just for his classmates to make fun of is completely valid.
    • Lincoln is disowned by his sisters for involving them in a shameful video without their permission. So, to make up for his mistake, he involves Cristina in a shameful video without her permission. The sisters, inexplicably, don't notice that contradiction and undeservedly give him the Best Improved Brother trophy!
  • Chew-Out Fake-Out: After uploading his embarrassing video so he'd be even with his sisters, Lincoln hopes they'll forgive him. But when he opens the door his sisters still look as angry as before. At first, it seems like they're ready to once again chastise him. However, it turns out they are happy and joyful that he embarrassed himself to get even, and they walk up to him and forgive him.
  • Collective Death Glare: All the sisters shoot one at Lincoln when he comes home, showing how livid they are after seeing the humiliating video of them.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: Lincoln films Luna splitting her pants.
  • Companion Cube: One of Lincoln's embarrassing moments in his montage shows him sleeping with his stuffed rabbit "Bun-Bun" like a baby.
  • Cosmetic Horror: Lincoln films Lola sleeping with a face mask, curlers, and an enormous retainer.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: The sisters are already livid that Lincoln humiliated them, but they're even less impressed when he reveals he did it to win a video contest.
Lola: You showed my sleep face for some stupid CONTEST?!
  • Disowned Sibling: Lucy says this while pretending to disown Lincoln to teach him a lesson, which is so strong she actually believes her own facade. Later she stops pretending when they make up.
  • Everyone Has Standards: For Luan, filming other people's embarrassing/personal moments is fine, but posting them online without the subject's permission is not. Lincoln didn't know this of this rule, as it was an unspoken rule Luan assumed he knew of already.
  • Foreshadowing: Luan tells Clyde she would never post the video of him picking his nose without permission. Lincoln fails to do just that.
  • Gasshole: This episode reveals that Lori has a flatulence problem. She farts whenever no one's around, and never owns up to them when she gets caught. Lincoln films her doing this several times, and gets knocked out by one of them as she's walking by in his Humiliation Conga. Clyde, however, with his Precocious Crush on Lori, likes the sound of her farts for some reason...
  • Humiliation Conga: Lincoln uploads a montage of himself being put through one to make up for humiliating his sisters. This actually ends up earning him a trophy from his sisters because his montage was more hilarious than the one he made of them.
  • Kissing Warm-Up: At Lincoln's video about his sisters, one scene showed Lucy making out with the bust of Edwin, the protagonist of her favorite show Vampires of Melancholy. Later, in his following video, he shows himself doing the exact same thing, but with a picture of Christina pasted on Edwin.
  • Milholland Relationship Moment: After deleting his original video and uploading the one where he embarasses himself, Lincoln is still received by a severe look from his sisters, just like the last time, and still chew him out over how he thought that could possibly make them even. Fortunately, it turns out they do think that makes them even and forgive him.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: The "Hamstacam" video, which went viral, is just a video of a hamster running in its exercise wheel like a regular hamster. After Lincoln deletes the video of the sisters and Hamstacam ends up winning, extra footage of the video shows the hamster taking a stumble in the wheel, bumping into the drinking tube, and getting gushed, which is probably why it went viral.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Lincoln's reaction when he sees Luan's massive collection of embarrassing footage of him over the years.
    • Christina when she sees Lincoln's embarrassing video. She's the only student who does not laugh at him, and thus switches classes in the end.
  • Rake Take: Lincoln films Lynn stepping onto a rake, which causes a Disaster Dominoes incident for her.
  • Rejected Apology: Lincoln's initial attempts to apologize to his sisters for humiliating them fall on deaf ears. It's only when he humiliates himself that they're willing to forgive him.
  • Ridiculously Average Guy: Lincoln was the only kid in the family who didn't win any trophies despite his efforts.
  • Rule of Three: Lincoln catches Lori farting three times.
  • Running Gag:
    • Lori keeps farting and claims it was her shoes making the noise.
    • Lincoln's embarrassing moment videos have him repeatedly speaking romantically to a photo of his classmate Cristina and admiring his one chest hair.
  • Singing in the Shower: The video of Lincoln's embarrassing moments shows him doing this.
  • Soda-Candy 'Splosion: One of the ways Lincoln tries to win a trophy is by sticking a bunch of breath mints to himself and stage-diving into a wading pool full of soda to make the soda go crazy.
  • Splitting Pants: Lincoln's video about his sisters includes Luna ripping her pants while attempting to do a split.
  • Tempting Fate: Lincoln reassures Clyde that his sisters will never know about the humiliating video he posted about them, only to be proven wrong seconds later when they furiously confront him over it.
  • The Voiceless: Although all the sisters are present, Lisa and Lily do not speak.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The girls call Lincoln out for posting their embarrassing moments online.
  • You Didn't Ask: When Lincoln asks Luan why she didn't tell him the unspoken rule of "don't post footage of others online without their permission," her response is that it's because it's an unspoken rule, basically the "I thought it was obvious" version of this.
