Recap / The Looney Tunes Show S 2 E 7 Customer Service

Go To

The seventh episode of the second season of The Looney Tunes Show.

When Cecil turtle, a customer representative working for Trans-Visitron, intentionally cuts off Bugs' cable TV, Bugs declares war and gets revenge. Meanwhile, after her manager suspends her from Copy Place for being rude to the customers, Tina enlists Lola's help in being more positive and upbeat.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Dumbass: The orignal Looney Tunes shorts had Cecil being one of the few characters to ever beat Bugs Bunny by outwitting him. He knows the right things to say to get under Bugs's skin and in his second appearance, was able to see through Bugs' Paper-Thin Disguise, but plays along to exploit Bugs' bruised ego and put him at a disadvantage, counting on the other rabbits being too stupid to realize they're hindering Bugs. Here, as a result of being the one to antagonize Bugs, it is Cecil who falls for Bugs's tricks, being actually fooled by his disguises and played like a fiddle.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In "Long-Haired Hare", Giovanni Jones was a pompous conductor who beats up Bugs and breaks his instruments for interrupting his rehearsal. Here, he is Tina's Benevolent Boss who has to suspend her for her rudeness towards the customers, but later comes to understand her position when he has to deal with Yosemite Sam attempting to counterfeit money, welcoming her back when she drives Sam out.
  • Adaptational Villainy: In the original shorts, Cecil only antagonized Bugs when Bugs was the one being a Jerkass, and existed to knock him down a peg. In this adaptation, he is given an extremely jerkass personality reminiscent of the various antagonists that justifiably deserve Bugs' Karmic Trickster antics.
  • The Cameo: Giovanni Jones from "Long-Haired Hare" appears in this episode as the head manager at Copy Place and Tina's boss.
  • Chekhov's Gag: When Daffy searches the closet for an outfit for his new career, one of the things he finds is an old-timey deep sea diver's suit. Near the end of the episode, Bugs uses said diving suit to spook Cecil into thinking he's a man from the future and that everybody left because of how mistreated Bugs was, and the only way to prevent this is to turn Bugs' cable back on.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: When Daffy applies to Trans-Visitron, he runs down the list of previous jobs he's held in the series, including a hairdresser ("Beauty School"), Marine Corps ("Semper Lie") and the CEO of Enormocorp. ("Working Duck"). An interviewer mentions how impressive all of it sounds on paper.
  • Disguised in Drag: Bugs disguises himself as a waitress named Becky as part of his plan to pay Cecil out for what he put him through.
  • For Inconvenience, Press "1": Cecil pretends to be voice mail as part of his plan to annoy Bugs.
  • For the Evulz: Cecil annoys clients of his cable company for the sheer sake of annoying them.
  • Good News, Bad News: After giving Bugs the Bronze package, which only has one channel filled with Mexican telenovelas, Cecil tells him he has good news and bad news. He starts with the bad news, saying he was not able to upgrade him to the Gold package. When Bugs asks him what the good news is, Cecil asks him, "Oh, did I say there was good news?" before laughing wickedly.
  • Indian Burial Ground: A variation is mentioned in the In-Universe telenovela Speedy gets hooked on. According to Speedy, the female protagonist and her lover live in a hacienda that is built over an Azteca burial ground.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: For what he did to Bugs, Cecil gets fired by Daffy for being late from lunch.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Cecil constantly misnames Bugs Bunny, calling him "Buges Buney".
  • The Operators Must Be Crazy: Cecil disconnects Bugs' cable service just so he can screw with him when he calls.
  • Potty Emergency: Bugs drinks a lot of water while waiting for Cecil, thus triggering one of these. The second he leaves to use the bathroom, Cecil emerges from behind a tree and hangs a "Sorry We Missed You" notice on Bugs' door.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Tina gives one to Yosemite Sam when he tries to counterfeit money and takes Lola's spot in the parking lot.
Sam: What are you lookin' at, Girly?
Tina: I'll tell you what I'm lookin' at, a sad little man who buys his jeans in the children's department, and is about to get beat up with his own boots. (Sam runs away in terror) You hear me?! And if you ever steal my friend's parking space again, I'll put you in a shoebox and bury you in my backyard!
  • Stairs Are Faster: Cecil arrives at Trans-Visitron headquarters two minutes before his break is about to end, but when he tries to take the elevator to the 22nd floor, Bugs appears as the elevator operator, treating him in a way similar to how Cecil treated him earlier, telling him about the various packages he has that could take him to the 22nd floor. Cecil decides to take the stairs instead.
  • Swapped Roles: In the original shorts, Bugs was in the odd role of the jerk and Cecil was his victim, which led to the latter winning. Here, it's the opposite, with Bugs being in his usual role as the Karmic Trickster and Cecil as the jerk who deserves to be at the end of his antics.
  • Tempting Fate: After Tina's manager suspends her for her hostility, he tells her to find someone who can teach her to be positive and upbeat. Tina asks "What kind of nitwit's positive and upbeat?" Cue her running into Lola, covered in ink, saying she has freckles.
  • Troll: Cecil intentionally irritates Bugs by randomly cutting off his cable, then when he puts the cable back on, he only gets one channel and it's full of Mexican telenovelas.
  • We Want Our Jerk Back!: When Tina's manager tries unsuccessfully to tell Yosemite Sam that he can't photocopy money, he is relieved to see Tina return, and lifts her suspension so she can deal with customers like Sam. When Tina tells him she doesn't think she can be positive and upbeat, he tells her that right now, he needs a rude and mean-spirited employee, admitting that she was right when she said he had no idea how to deal with the customers.
  • Wham Line: After being continuously tormented by Cecil throughout the episode, Bugs drops a familiar phrase that signals he's going to be a Karmic Trickster once more for the first time in the series since "Casa De Calma".
