Original air date: 3/22/2002 (produced in 2001)

Episode number: 10b

Timmy is jealous when AJ rubs his grades in his face, so he wishes to know everything, but he suddenly loses his intelligence once he enters a school trivia competition.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: Timmy gets it after he wishes for smarts. After the wish was cancelled, he admits that, unlike AJ, he never even worked for his brains.
  • Artistic License – Biology: During the quiz competition, the host refers to the banana slug as an insect, although slugs are actually gastropods, not insects.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Timmy when he tries to study.
"Chapter one... I'm done. Let's play the not study game!"
  • Brought Down to Normal: Timmy suddenly loses his Sudden Intelligence right when the Academic Brain-a-thon begins, because, according to Da Rules, you can't use magic to win a competition, as that's cheating.
  • Condescending Compassion: After gloating about his latest A, AJ smugly offers to help Timmy study and get his grade up to a D. Naturally, Timmy rejects the offer and later on AJ realizes Timmy probably would've accepted it if he hadn't been such a jerk while offering his help.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Even when he has super-intelligence granted to him by Cosmo & Wanda, Timmy does not consider the ramifications of trying to use his newfound knowledge on the Brain-a-thon. Because the Fairy Rules state that their magic cannot be used in a competition since that is cheating, Timmy's Magic-Induced Intelligence is immediately revoked when he enters since it gives him an unfair advantage. The kicker is that Timmy still did not consider this despite wishing to know everything, which even Cosmo points out he should have figured.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: After Timmy suddenly loses his intelligence due to trying to use it to win a competition, Timmy asks Cosmo and Wanda why they didn't warn him beforehand. Cosmo points out that since Timmy wished to know everything, which includes Da Rules, he should have realized it himself.
  • Friendship Moment: AJ and Timmy reconcile at the end, admitting they shouldn't have been so smug.
  • Insufferable Genius: AJ gets this trait amped up in this episode. Timmy becomes one after wishing to know everything.
  • Last-Second Showoff: AJ briefly accuses Timmy of this when he loses his brains.
  • Never My Fault: AJ gloats over his intelligence, prompting a jealous Timmy to wish himself smarter than AJ. When Timmy starts gloating and showing off, AJ acts as though he's being an obnoxious jerk for no real reason when in fact Timmy probably wouldn't have been showing offnote  if he hadn't been gloating himself. However, AJ subverts this later on when he admits that if he hadn't been so busy gloating, Timmy might have agreed to let AJ help him study.
  • Shaking the Rump: AJ mocks Timmy by doing this after receiving yet another A+, and after wishing to be the smartest kid in the world, Timmy does this in front of AJ in return after teaching the class about the Alamo and the state of Texas, which he receives an A+ for.
  • Sudden Intelligence: The main plot of this episode.
  • Victory Gloating: AJ loves to rub his good grades in everyone's face, which ends up pushing Timmy into making the wish.
  • You Are Grounded!: Timmy takes it gracefully at the end of the episode, even suggesting it.
