Go To

Original air date: 5/10/2002 (produced in 2001)

Episode number: 11a

Timmy and his dad are going to participate in a father-son bicycle race, but Timmy is embarrassed by the run-down bike that his dad made for him. He wishes for the best bicycle ever, but this bike has a mind of its own, and wants Timmy all to himself.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Achilles' Heel: Super Bike is invulnerable... but the parts that fall off him aren't.
  • The Alleged Bike: Mr. Turner's bike. Its frame is made of wood, the handlebars are made of a rusty pipe, the seat is a bag of manure, it has fuzzy slippers in lieu of pedals (which Mr. Turner took from his wife), and is shoddily put together, falling apart at the end of the episode.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Super Bike appears friendly, but is a manipulative yandere.
  • Breath Weapon: Super Bike's dragon form can breathe fire.
  • Crappy Homemade Gift: Timmy asks his dad to buy him a bike so they can participate in a father-son race. Much to his dismay, his father instead builds a bike out of rusty pipes and manure bags.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: There really is no legitimate reason why the Super Bike is sentient, obsessed with holding all of Timmy's attention with the hypnotic abilities to enforce it and capable of turning into a fire breathing dragon when angered. Timmy should really ask Cosmo and Wanda what they think makes a bike super.
  • Doom It Yourself: Mr. Turner displays this trait for the first time. His homemade bike for Timmy is a piece of junk thats one slight breeze away from falling apart (and indeed does so in the end), the blender he made is gas-powered, and the watch he made for Mom electrocutes her each time she uses it.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: One look at Super Bike's broken mirror gives Timmy a realization how to defeat him.
  • Fake-Out Opening: The episode opens with Cosmo and Timmy deep sea diving and getting attacked by a shark. The shark turns out to be Wanda, and the whole thing is a harmless game.
  • Fun with Flushing: At the end of the episode, Wanda flushes Super Bike's decapitated head down Super Toilet. This causes Cosmo to conquer his fear of Super Toilet, at least until he falls in and gets flushed himself.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Super Bike's Wounded Gazelle Gambit clues Timmy in on how to defeat him: Super Bike is Nigh-Invulnerable, but the parts that fall off him aren't.
  • Hypnotic Eyes: Super Bike has a pair, which he uses on Timmy to get him to obey. It stops working when he tries to tell him his father doesn't love him.
  • If I Can't Have You…: Super Bike declares this when he realizes Timmy is trying to dismantle him.
  • Ignored Epiphany: This isn't the first time Timmy has made a wish for something super that backfired, as his fairies cut him off at saying super when he's about to wish for his bike and remind him they decided to never make a super wish again. Of course he doesn't listen and it backfires..
  • It's Quiet… Too Quiet: Timmy says the line during the Fake-Out Opening. Cosmo responds with "And it's wet... too wet!" while a fish swims around his diving helmet.
  • Magic A Is Magic A: Played with. Timmy and the fairies learn the hard way that you should, in the words of H. P. Lovecraft, "Never call up what you can't put down.", as Super Bike is specifically wished to be indestructible, to the extent that he can't even be wished away. Fortunately, he does have a weakness; any parts that are removed from him lose their indestructibility.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Super Bike is this. He only wants Timmy all to himself and forces him to abandon his family and friends.
  • Mega Neko: One of Timmy's past super wishes was for a super kitty. Cutaway to him and a pack of neighborhood dogs running for their lives from a cat big enough to have thundering footsteps as it roars after them.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Super Bike taking off and breaking his mirror as part of a Wounded Gazelle Gambit is what gives Timmy the clue he needs to defeat him later.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Super Bike is indestructible... but the parts that fall off aren't.
  • No-Sell:
  • Noodle Incident:
    • We never find out why Timmy wished up Super Toliet or what happened as a result, but it traumatized Cosmo to this day.
      Cosmo: So much clogging!
    • Timmy also wished for a Super Kitty.
  • Playing with Fire: Super Bike's dragon form can breathe fire.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Timmy gives one to Super Bike upon realizing he's been manipulating him to ditch his family and friends.
Super Bike: You know, if he really loves you, he'd let you ride me!
Timmy: Hey, don't say that! My dad loves me!
Super Bike: How do you know he's not lying?
Timmy: How do I know you're not?
Super Bike: Well... I'm a bike!
Timmy: Yeah! And you've been manipulating me to keep me away from my friends and family! Come on, we're going home.
  • Running Gag: Super toilet. (Cue Cosmo freaking out)
  • Sentient Vehicle: The titular Super Bike, who for some reason is created with a humanoid torso instead regular handlebars.
  • Taking the Heat: Mr. Turner pays Timmy to take the blame for his screw up, with implications that this is a normal occurrence.
  • Trauma Button: All it takes to reduce Cosmo to a wreck is mentioning Super Toliet. Super Bike especially likes intentionally setting Cosmo off with it. Cosmo almost overcomes it in the end...until he falls into the Super Toilet that's used to flush the head of Super bike away.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Cosmo, in response to the above Trauma Button.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: In one of the many ways he manipulates Timmy, Super Bike pretends to fall down and get injured, including pulling off and breaking his mirror. Timmy does not fall for it and immediately resists; this eventually clues Timmy in on how to get past Super Bike's Nigh-Invulnerability.
  • Yandere: Super Bike initially seems like a friendly, cool bike to Timmy, but he later proves to be a clingy, possessive and manipulative bike who tries to pull an If I Can't Have You… on Timmy.
