Season 4, Episode 10:

Cibola Burn

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: Avasarala loses the election, making everything she did in the previous episodes to win the position of Secretary-General pointless.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Possibly. After Amos regrows his missing digits, Amos tells Alex that he's "gonna try it out right now" and walks away; Alex's expression could mean that it's Amos Breaking In Old Habits, but the last scene we see shows Amos beating up Murtry with his new hand. It's possible that both events happened, though!
  • Breaking In Old Habits: Amos gets his hand shot off by Murtry. Thanks to advanced medical technology, he's grown it back by the end of the episode. When Alex compliments the new hand, Amos cheerfully says he's "gonna try it out right now" and heads off to his quarters, leaving Alex looking appropriately disturbed.
  • Character Death:
    • Miller's consciousness dies for good after making a Heroic Sacrifice to shut down the structure.
    • Klaes Ashford is Thrown Out the Airlock by Marco Inaros and his son Filip at the end of the episode.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: One of Ashford's crewmembers is seen torturing a Martian naval officer for information by removing one of his teeth with pliers.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Ashford, who, even as he's in the airlock about to be spaced — and, in fact, even after he is spaced — just sings a classic sea shanty and calmly accepts his fate.
  • Guns Akimbo: Ashford, when boarding Inaros' ship.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Leelee decides to cooperate with Bobbie and "compare notes" on Beltran after Bobbie threatens to go to the police.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Amos visits Murtry and announces his intention to beat the crap out of him for Wei, Murtry decides to throw the first punch. When Amos takes the hit then turns around with a bloody mouth and a huge Slasher Smile, Murtry's face conveys just how badly he's screwed himself.
  • Parting-Words Regret: Holden regrets that the last words he says to Miller are "Rain doesn't taste like anything."
  • Thrown Out the Airlock: Beloved Belter pirate Klaes Ashford is chucked into the vacuum of space for refusing to play ball with Marco Inaros. Ashford gets big bonus points because his death is beautifully filmed, poignant (he dies singing a lullaby he sang to his deceased child), and plot-relevant: he gets Marco to incriminate himself, records it, and ensures that the recording reaches Drummer after his death.
