    Prologue
After the Final Class Trial and Junko Enoshima's execution, 6 survivors stand at the door: Makoto Naegi, Kyoko Kirigiri, Byakuya Togami, Toko Fukawa/Genocide Jill, Aoi Asahina, and Yasuhiro Hagakure. As Makoto presses the Escape Button, the door opens and reveals what the outside world looks like... and it doesn't look anything like Japan. The world is surrounded with hills with eyes and there's a dirt road leading to a castle. There's giant waking turtles, brown walking fungi, and giant metal ball and chains with teeth. Everyone is just confused about what's going on... except for Makoto, who's grinning from ear to ear. Makoto reveals that they're in the Mushroom Kingdom from the Super Mario Bros., though no one knows what he's talking about. As everyone is walking down the dirt road and Makoto explains the Super Mario Bros. series to everyone, Hiro accidentally bumps into a "?" Block. This causes the Super Leaf to appear from it and hit Makoto, causing him to gain the Raccoon power up. He explains the power up's abilities (using the tail as a weapon and a propeller, and the ability to fly) and tries to fly, but fails.

They eventually arrive at the castle and meets Captain Toad. Makoto asks him if they can meet Princess Peach in order to find a way home. Unfortunately, Captain Toad reveals that Peach is away at Toad Town with Mario. He suggests using the Magenti-Star, a magenta Power Star with great power that might have brought them to the Mushroom Kingdom in the first place. Unfortunately, it broke into three pieces and scattered shortly after. Now, the group split into pairs to find the pieces: Makoto and Kyoko head to Grass Land (Kyoko dragging Makoto with her, with Aoi believing it to be so she can spend more time with Makoto), Byakuya and Toko stay in Peach's Castle (Byakuya seeing as a fitting place for him to search and Toko naturally following him), and Aoi and Hiro go to Water Land (Aoi's Ultimate Swimming Pro talent providing her with an advantage with Hiro tagging along to grab gold from the Jolly Roger Boat.)

    Collecting The Magenti-Star Pieces (Chapters 1 - 3)
After arriving to Grass Land, Makoto and Kyoko pass through Bob-omb Battlefield and reach a pond to get some water to drink since. During this time, Kyoko finds a carrot for them to eat... only for it to turn out to be another power up. This grants her bunny ears and the ability to fly, which she does accidentally. Makoto helps her understand how her power up works and she's able to glide down to the ground. They eventually find Lakitu and discover it has the Magenti-Star piece they're looking for. Makoto proceeds to charge right at it, wanting to get revenge for all the trouble it caused him when he played the game. As the two chase Lakitu, they encounter Yoshi who saves Makoto as he's about to fall and hit the ground. Even with Yoshi's help, Makoto isn't able to beat Lakitu, until Kyoko uses the Bob-ombs they encountered to blow Lakitu off of his cloud and onto the ground. As they go find where Lakitu land, they encounter a Chain-Chomp. Kyoko is able to beat it with a roundhouse kick and causing it to be launched at Lakitu. With Lakitu defeated, the two obtain the Megenti-Star piece and ride on Yoshi back to Peach's Castle.

Meanwhile, Byakuya and Toko investigate the inside of Peach's Castle on the hunt for the Magenti-Star piece. During their investigation, they encounter a bunny named Mips. He reveals he has the Magenti-Star piece and plans on using it on a date. When Byakuya demands that Mips give them the piece, he says that he'll give it to them if they can catch him. Toko insists that she be the one that catches Mips so she can prove that's she can be useful for more than just Genocide Jill. Byakuya, growing to respect Toko for standing up for herself, allows her to try to catch the bunny. While chasing Mips, she accidentally bumps into a Hidden Block and acquires the Hammer Suit. Even with the power up, she's still unable to catch up to Mips. Byakuya finds a "?" Block and hits it. When the smoke clears, he discovers that the power up he obtained, the Super Crown, turned him into a woman. This causes Mips to stop and ogle at "Byakuette", distracting him long enough for Toko to knock him out with a hammer and get the Magenti-Star piece. While the two go meet up with Captain Toad, she calls Byakuya out on his condescending attitude and his treatment of her. She also points out her own shortcomings and admits that she's still in love with him. He ultimately encourages her to be more independent while praising her. The two reach the main hall and find the Goomboss, King of the Goombas. He demands that they give him the Magenti-Star piece and sicks his Goombas at them when they refuse. While dealing with the incompetent mooks, Byakuya bumps into another "?" Block and acquires the Gold Flower power up. This turns him back into a guy and allows him to turn enemies into gold coins with golden fireballs. With Byakuya and Toko's combined efforts, they we're able to defeat the Goomboss and they kiss. They discover from 4 Goombas (named Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde) that when they defeated the Goomboss, they became the new King and Queen of the Goombas. Byakuya has them free Captain Toad and the other toads and they now wait for the others to return to the castle.

Meanwhile, Aoi and Hiro arrive at Water Land and search for the Magenti-Star piece. While searching the beach, Hiro finds two treasure chests and goes and tries to get what's inside. He gets electrocuted by one of the chests and Aoi accidentally opens the other. Inside the chest, she discovers the Frog Suit power up and gains frog powers (super jumping abilities and able to hold her breath underwater longer). Hiro tries opening the treasure chest again and it actually opens. Much to his disappointment, there isn't gold in the chest. Inside of the chest is a Mini Mushroom, which causes Hiro to shrink to 7 inches (17.78 centimeters) tall. After teasing him for a bit, Aoi suggests that she go into the ocean and search the sunken Jolly Roger. Before she could, she gets surprised by a random Shy Guy and causing it to lose its mask. She returns it and befriends the Shy Guy, nicknaming it "Heiho-kun" since it can only say "Hei-Ho!". She then mentions her and Hiro's goal of finding the Magenti-Star piece to Heiho-kun. Heiho-kun, hoping to steal the piece for his boss, offers to help Aoi in her search. While waiting on the beach, Hiro spots Captain Wart and discovers his and Heiho-kun's plan to trick Aoi into getting the Mageti-Star piece. While trying to find a way to warn Aoi, he accidentally slips into Captain Warts bag of Bombs. Meanwhile, Aoi and Heiho-kun are dealing with Unagi, a giant eel they encountered that has the Magenti-Star piece they were looking for. She's able to defeat Unagi and the piece from it, though she gets knocked out by it as it leaves. This causes Heiho-kun to raise the Jolly Roger and give her his scuba gear. Captain Wart boards the ship and demands that Heiho-kun give him the star piece. Heiho-kun, touched by Aoi's kindness, gives the piece to her instead. Before Captain Wart can try to get the piece back, he and his crew get blown up and shot into the sky. It's revealed that Hiro, stuck in the bag, lit the bombs. They take the Magenti-Star piece and head back to the castle, with Heiho-kun going with them.

    Assembling The Magenti-Star (Chapter 4)
Makoto and Kyoko arrive at Peach's Castle first and meet with Captain Toad. As Makoto explains everything that happened, Captain Toad reveals that the Yoshi they met is just A Yoshi and not THE Yoshi. Eventually, Aoi, Hiro and Heiho-kun arrive as well and explain their adventure. While waiting for Byakuya and Toko, Captain Toad notes the similarities between their relationship and his with Toadette. He also reveals that the two of them are married and have kids, something Makoto notes not having seen in any of the Mario games. Though when he says that, Captain Toad is confused by what he meant by "Mario Games". Eventually, they discover Goombas in the castle, much to everyone's surprise. They figure out that Byakuya and Toko are the Goombas' leader and that they are dating. They also discover that since the Goombas are now good, touching them won't cause them to lose their power ups. All of this starts getting to Makoto and causes him to run off, with Kyoko following suit.

She eventually catches up to him and gets him to talk to her. Makoto reveals his insecurities: everyone was able to finish their missions and master their power ups despite never playing a Mario game, while Makoto wasn't able to do much and still can't fly. He also brings up how he feels like he's not a "real" Ultimate like everyone else. It gets to the point of him wanting to get away from the others so that he can't hold them back. Kyoko comforts him by telling him how she came across Makoto's student files during her investigation and found that her father, Headmaster Jin Kirigiri, has fought tooth and nail to keep the Ultimate Lucky Student position in Hope's Peak despite the Steering Committee wanting it abolished. This is because he says luck as an actual talent. She also says that they wouldn't even be alive to explore the Mushroom Kingdom if wasn't for his optimism, and that she also saw him as HER hope and that they couldn't have gotten this far without Makoto as their guide. This eventually cheers Makoto up and he thanks her. The two of them, who had developed feelings for one another, were almost about to kiss until Hiro interrupts them and heads back to tell the other that they're okay. Makoto and Kyoko follow him back.

The group give Captain Toad their pieces and he's able to reassemble the Magenti-Star, though he says that it will take time to charge. After getting a bite to eat, the group grab the charged Magenti-Star and prepare to say goodbye to their new friends. Makoto suggests taking them back to their home, but Kyoko declines saying that they it wouldn't be right to take them from their home. Before Makoto can retort, he hears something approaching the castle. It's revealed to be Bowser and his Clown Copter. He has arrived to take the Magenti-Star. Everyone tries to stop him, but they fail. Although Kyoko briefly regains the Magenti-Star, Bowser quickly takes it back. He then knocks Kyoko out of bunny power up, captures her, and knocks everyone out with sleeping gas.

    Rescuing Kyoko (Chapters 5 & 6)
After waking up from a nightmare, Makoto meets up with the rest of the group with Aoi and Heiho-kun's help. While he wants to come up with a plan to save Kyoko, Byakuya wants to come up with a plan to save the Magenti-Star. He reasons that Kyoko would want them to get the Magenti-Star back and go home, even if it means leaving her behind. Refusing to believe that, Makoto tries to fly to Bowser's Castle but still can't master his flying abilities. When Byakuya chides Makoto on seeming wasting time on trying to fly, Makoto snaps at him for his condescending behavior and reaffirms his desire to save Kyoko. Captain Toad approaches the group and reveals the key to flying with the raccoon power up: the user has to jump with a running start and have to think of something or someone that makes their heart flutter. While trying to find what makes his heart flutter, Makoto's thoughts drift towards Kyoko. Realizing that he's in love with her, this allows Makoto to finally fly, and he heads straight towards Bowser's Castle to save her. Meanwhile, Kyoko wakes up to discover herself in Bowser's Castle. While she's trying to find out a way to escape, Bowser reveals his plan: use the Magenti-Star to rule the Mushroom Kingdom... and make Kyoko his bride. After insulting Makoto, Kyoko takes the opportunity to attack him and the two face off.

Makoto arrives at Bowser's Castle and enters it using a secret warp pipe. Unfortunately, this leads into a trap by four of the eight Koopalings: Roy Koopa, Morton Koopa Jr., Larry Koopa, and Ludwig von Koopa. While Makoto's initially able to beat them with a falling disco ball, the Koopalings are able to turn the tides with Ludwig turning all four of them giant-sized. Before the four can crush him, reinforcements arrive and hold the Koopalings off while Makoto runs ahead to save Kyoko. Though before he leaves, Byakuya gives Makoto a "?" Block that Captain Toad said to give to him to give to Kyoko.

Makoto arrives at Bowser's Throne Room and finds Kyoko restrained by Mecha Koopas. After fanboying over them for a little bit, he comes face-to-face with Bowser himself. The two of them square up and Bowser... begs Makoto to take Kyoko back. As it turns out, Kyoko was able to beat and pin Bowser down. It got so bad the Bowser had the Mecha Koopas restrain her in order to prevent her from beating him up more. He has the Mecha Koopas let her go and tells the two that they can leave. But when Kyoko starts making fun of his castle and his incompetence, his pride get the better of him and challenges the two to a fight. Makoto gives Kyoko the "?" Block and gains the same raccoon power up as Makoto. Bowser reveals a secret weapon of his own: a white top hat with boxing gloves that Kyoko dubs the "Combat Hat". When she asks him to stop it, Makoto reveals he doesn't know how. Despite that, the two fight Bowser. They're able to hold their own against him and knock his Combat Hat off. This angers Bowser and causes him to send a shockwave around the area, seemingly causing Makoto to fall to his death. Luckily, he's able to fly back up with his newly mastered flying powers and the fight continues. He's able to use the Combat Hat to beat Bowser, and him and Kyoko throw finish the fight by throwing him into spiked bombs. Bowser, saddened by the constant defeats he's suffered, begins falling into despair. Makoto, being Makoto, cheers him up by reminding him of his loyal minions, his kids, and his popularity in his world. This, along with getting his reservation for his and Peach's wedding from the Broodals, cheers Bowser up. He gives Makoto and Kyoko the Magenti-Star and heads off to kidnap Peach yet again. Kyoko asks Makoto if they should help Mario with this, he says that he should be fine and wishes him luck on this new Odyssey. With the exit blocked off, Makoto shows Kyoko how to fly with her new raccoon power up. During this, they kiss and confess their feelings for one another. They meet up with the others and head back to Peach's Castle.

After getting one more meal in, as well as turning Hiro back to normal size with a Super Mushroom, the six survivors say goodbye to their new friends. Makoto suggests again that they go with them, but Kyoko just asks where exactly they would they even put them in their world. Makoto concedes, thinking about the possibility of their new friends getting killed in the Tragedy-ridden world. And so, the six of them surround the Magenti-Star and are teleported away from the Mushroom Kingdom.

Meeting The Twilight Princess (Chapter 7)
As the flash from the Magenti-Star's teleportation dies out, the 6 survivors find themselves still not in Japan. They instead find themselves in a grassy field. As everyone tries to find out why they haven't been teleported home, Aoi suggest they follow a dirt road in hopes of reaching a town. While everyone walks down the road, Makoto goes to talk to Hiro who's upset about everyone dismissing his reason for them not being in Japan (his reasoning that they're on a spiritual journey). While talking about Hiro's idea, he notes Captain Toad's confusion over Makoto talking about the Mario games. He says it reminds him of something he read in a book, though he doesn't remember what. As the group reach the end of the road and see a tower, Makoto recognizes that they're in Hyrule. After explaining the Zelda series and its different timelines, Makoto (with Kyoko following him) flies off to the castle to meet Princess Zelda to see which timeline they're in.

As Makoto arrives to the castle, he goes to meet up with Princess Zelda. Before he can, Kyoko stops him and chastised him for rushing ahead and worrying everyone. He apologizes, they kiss and make up, and they go to meet Zelda. Though when they meet her, she just simply tells them that they shouldn't be there and launches a ball of light at them. As Kyoko goes to take the hit, the two of them find themselves in Hyrule Fields. As they pick themselves up, they find themselves surrounded by Bokoblins. Luckily, they get saved by Midna and Wolf Link. After this, the rest of group reunites with them. With the whole group back together again, the Magenti-Star starts glowing and teleports them away. Though as they're teleporting away, Makoto mentally worries how willing Kyoko was to throw herself in the way of a seemingly fatal attack to protect him.

Ending The Killing Harmony (Chapters 8 & 9)
It's the final class trial. The Mastermind, Tsumugi Shirogane, confronts the last few survivors: Shuichi Saihara, Maki Harukawa, Himiko Yumeno, and K1-B0/Keebo. She had revealed that the killing game they were a part of, and their lives, are part of a fictional series called "Danganronpa". Now they have two options: Choose hope and leave two of their own to participate in the 54th season of Danganronpa in order for the game to end or choose despair and the current killing game continues and they become stuck in the Ultimate Academy forever. But before they can make a decision, a flash of magenta light appears before them in the trial grounds.

The group seems to find themselves back in their own world, but in a new class trial with new students. As they're trying to figure out what's happening, they're shocked to see Monokuma and "Junko" (Tsumugi cosplaying as her). Quickly realizing this isn't really Junko, everyone is confused about what's going on. Tsumugi is equally as confused as why these guys aren't acting like the characters in Trigger Happy Havoc. Tsumugi explains to them what she told the other students, explaining Kyoko's backstory and the Mukuro trial in detail to prove the point. Enraged by this, Kyoko punches Tsumugi in the face. This causes her to summon the Monokubs (Monotaro, Monosuke, Monophanie, Monodam, and Monokid), the cubs of Monokuma, to defend her. She then proceeds to torment the group with her cosplay and causing them to fall into despair. Everyone... except for Hiro.

After the Class Trial Intermission (with Hiro recapping what happened and reminding the reader to kudo and comment), Hiro tries to convince everyone that they're real people. Seeing him struggle to do so, Keebo suggests explaining to them why they're not fictional. He tries to convince Makoto first so that he could help the others. But when it's made clear that Makoto's too deep in despair to hear him, Hiro proceeds to literally knock some sense into him. He reveals what he had remembered and was going to tell him when they were in Hyrule: people can have a subconscious psychic link to other worlds. This means what Tsumugi thought was fictional could very much be mental flashes of the killing game they were in and anything they thought was fictional, like the Mushroom Kingdom, are based off of actual worlds. This causes Makoto to be brought back from his despair. Now he can help snap the others out of their despairful state.

One by one, everyone is brought out of their despair state, while contradicting Tsumugi's claims of them being fictional. All that's left is Kyoko. While Makoto is able to make some headway, it's still a difficult challenge. Thankfully, Maki helps him by pointing out the similarities between her and Kyoko's feelings for Kaito and Makoto respectfully. This, ultimately, helps Kyoko snap out of her despairful state. All of this, along with Jill shredding her clothes, enrages Tsumugi and causes her to sick the Monokubs after them. The group's able easily to deal with them with their powers and further dispute her claims. This causes Danganronpa to be cancelled and for the real mastermind to be revealed: an older Junko Enoshima.

She reveals that what Tsumugi said about the Ultimate Real Fiction is a lie. She also reveals the backstory behind the Danganronpa series. The first killing game did happen in this world, with the difference that her and her world's Makoto and Kyoko were the only survivors. The despair of it all caused her to do more killing games, starting with Class 77 and Hajime Hinata. Unlike the main universe's Killing School Trip, all of them died. After this, she created another Killing Game with the Division Heads of the Future Foundation, including Makoto and Kyoko. This resulted in Makoto being the only survivor, as a result of Kyoko sacrificing herself. Makoto, along with the Future Foundation, ultimately died during Danganronpa 10: Birth of Despair trying to get revenge on Junko. With no one left to stop her, the killing games became a global phenomenon with sponsors and a high viewer count. Though during Danganronpa 42, an accident caused Junko to break her leg and a company called "Team Danganronpa" took over production of future Danganronpa seasons. After copious amounts of mediocre seasons, she got so bored of their killing games that she considered cancelling the show until Danganronopa V2. After that and seeing Tsumugi, she agreed to another season and left her in charge to see if she could be an adequate successor. Her plans end up disappointing Junko so much, she decided to use an Alter Ego program to wipe out anything Danganronpa related and causing herself and Team Danganronpa to become wanted fugitives by the United Nations. Now bored of everything, Junko abandons Tsumugi and leaves to her mansion (which previously belonged Kyoko' grandfather) and wait until either she's arrested and executed or dies from old age.

After Maki knock Tsumugi out, the two groups thank each other before the Class 78 survivors are teleported away again by the Magenti-Star. After they leave, the V3 survivors decide to head out to the outside world along with an unconscious Tsumugi.

Arriving At The Sengoku Era (Chapter 10)
The group finds themselves transported in a forest in a rural prefecture. As they wander through the woods, they spot an old wooden well that makes Makoto excited. As they bemoan the fact that they're in another video game world, Makoto says they're not in a video game world but an anime world. But before he can further explain, he's attacked by a teenage boy with white hair, claws & fangs, and golden eyes: Inuyasha. Kyoko immediately rushes in to protect Makoto from him, who mistook him and the others for demons. Following him are his group of friends: Sango, Kirara, Shippo, Miroku, and Kagame Higurashi. When Miroku notes the fact that the group are dressed similarly to Kagome, she suggests they talk with them instead of attacking them. After the two groups introduce themselves, with Makoto explaining away he already knows Inuyasha and Kagome's names, Miroku hits on Kyoko and asks her to bear his children. With Makoto busy fanboying, she pins Miroku to the ground and gets him to stop his advances. Not one to quit, he tries to do the same to Aoi. She scares him off by repeatedly jumping several feet in the air with him. Lastly, he tries to hit on Toko. This causes her to release Genocide Jill, who scares him off.

While all of this is going on, Makoto is trying to apologize to an upset Kyoko. During this, she accidentally throws him in the air where he discovers that he can propel himself with his racoon powers. After accidentally colliding into a tree, he discovers a lizard demon on his head that has a shard of something called the Sacred Jewel. He easily takes the shard, toss away the lizard demon, and hands the shard to Inuyasha. The group decides it's time to go and activate the Magenti-Star. Though before they teleport away, Makoto tells Miroku and Sango to say hi to Kin’u and Gyokuto (fan names of Miroku and Sango's twin daughters). The six of them vanish in a flash of light, leaving Inuyasha and co. alone. As they wonder who Kin’u and Gyokuto are and Sango daydreams about being with Sango, he teases her about it. Sango, having grown upset over him flirting with the three female survivors, hits Miroku and then kisses him. As Inuyasha mocks this, Kagome "sits" him as the group walks down the dirt road on their goal for the Sacred Jewel shards.

Lost in Oletus Manor (Chapter 11)
Still not back to their home world, the group find themselves in an abandoned building. To make things worse, Makoto has no idea where they are. Before they can figure out what's going on, they hear a very familiar laugh. They look outside the window and see a Monokuma, albeit bigger and covered with gold stitches on its seams. In its paw, is a ragdoll Makoto who he calls "Lucky Guy". As the doll Monokuma drags Lucky Guy towards an electric chair, Kyoko desperately tries to save him. The others try to hold her back and convince her not to go so she doesn't reveal their location. Kyoko, wanting to save him out of guilt for what happened during the fifth trial, isn't listening and is struggling to save Lucky Guy. Before she could, Lucky Guy is saved by a doll version of herself called "Coordinator". With Monokuma distracted, Lucky Guy and Coordinator run for the exit and Monokuma chases after them. As the group question and chastise Kyoko on her trying to save Lucky Guy and almost give away their location, they're met by a doll version of Junko. This doll Junko, called "Barmaid", offers them beer. Creeped out by Barmaid, they use the Magenti-Star and teleport away. As Barmaid leaves the building into the fog, she wonders if she'll meet the big Monokuma.

Meeting The Galactic Bounty Hunter (Chapters 12 & 13)
The group now find themselves in the middle of the road, about to be hit by a truck. Everyone but Hiro are able to move out of the way, with the truck stopping before it could hit him. As the driver exits his truck to yell at Hiro, they notice the fact that he's an alien and Hiro freaks out. The annoyed driver just gets back into his truck and drives off. After everyone moves to the sidewalk, they look around and notice they're in what looks like a futuristic New York City with flying cars and spaceships. They also discover they're not even on Earth, but rather Dalaran City, part of the Galactic Federation Hall and Galactic Capital of Planet Daiban. As everyone tries to figure out exactly where they are, Jill suggests they just leave with the Magenti-Star. Byakuya, ultimately, suggests that they stay out of curiosity of this world. Everyone agrees and decides to look for somewhere to eat.

While the group wanders throughout the city, Kyoko begins to reflect about what happened since she woke up in Hope's Peak and her relationship with Makoto. When she sees Makoto and Aoi talking to each other, she starts feeling a hint of jealousy. Though she recognizes that feeling this way is ridiculous, she also recognizes how rash and more emotional she's become when it comes to Makoto and how he's changed her mindset. She snaps out her own head when Makoto tells her how she had walked past the restaurant the group stopped by and looked concerned. When Makoto asks her what's wrong, she says that she can't say at the time. He understands and his trust in her cheers her up as the two meet back up with the others. As they stand in front of the restaurant and wonder what to eat, Kyoko points out that they don't have any money. Aoi suggest looking for jobs in order to get money. As Makoto goes off to find some Help Wanted posters, he accidentally bumps into a woman in an overcoat and hat. When Makoto hands the woman's hat back to her, he recognizes her as Samus Aran and that they're in the world of Metroid. Surprisingly, Samus recognized their looks are from the Mushroom Kingdom and asked if they visited there. She offers to tell them how she knows about the Mushroom Kingdom over lunch, which she'll pay for. Everyone goes inside to talk to her.

After ordering food and introducing each other, Samus tells the group what she knows. She reveals that she knows that they're not from her world or the Mushroom Kingdom because she was invited to compete in Super Smash Bros. and actually travelled to the Mushroom Kingdom. When Makoto accidentally brings up Nintendo, she reveals that Master Hand had told her about how there were a series of games based on her. When Makoto, having experience being told that his life is fictional, asked how she handled it, she says she took it like a champ (in reality, she had an existential crisis while being comforted by Pikachu). Kyoko, having grown jealous of Samus due to Makoto fanboying over her, reaches her breaking point when Samus tries to pet Makoto's raccoon ears and goes to eat alone. Makoto tries to go after her, but Aoi suggests he let her cool off.

As Kyoko wonders why she felt so jealous of Samus, despite knowing that Makoto wouldn't cheat on her, she hears someone approaching her. She thinks it's Makoto, but it's actually Aoi. Aoi encourages her to vent out her feelings, which she does. Aoi manages to cheer her up, affirming that they're best friends. Kyoko takes Makoto aside and apologizes for her behavior. Makoto, in turn, apologizes for ignoring her and the two kiss and make up. The two head back to the others and Kyoko apologizes to Samus for her hostility. Samus also apologizes and the 7 of them continue eating. While they're eating, space pirates burst into the restaurant and begin robbing the place. Samus equips her armor, and everyone fights off the space pirates. Makoto, who had left to use the bathroom earlier, gets kidnapped by the space pirates and is used as a hostage. Before they can get farther away from the restaurant, the space pirates are beaten by Captain Falcon. As Captain Falcon leaves, Samus and the group bid each other farewell as the 6 teleport away with the Magenti-Star. As Samus goes to deal with the space pirates, she notices a VIP ticket to Captain Falcon's race. Samus, who has a crush on him, is excited and wonders if Makoto's luck is rubbing off on her.

Visiting The Vampires Of Hope's Peak (Chapters 14 - 16)
The group now find themselves in a Victorian style bedroom. As everyone tries to figure out where they are now, Kyoko notes that the room they're in feels familiar. They arrive to the center of the room and discover where they are: The Class Trial Courtroom. Before they can question this, a mysterious fog appears. As the group huddle together, Makoto grabs Kyoko's hand... only to notice she's on his left side, even though he can see she's on his right. Even worse, the other Kyoko has red eyes and fangs. She's later joined by another Makoto with red eyes and fangs, as well as a third person with red eyes and fangs: Mukuro Ikusaba. As they fight off the three, Mukuro captures Makoto and reveals that she's a vampire. The vampire Mukuro threatens to drop him, but he and others aren't worried due to his powers. Kyoko believes this is just Tsumugi again, but her vampire counterpart's confusion of Tsumugi and Danganronpa disproves that theory. Vampire Makoto recognizes the Mario power up, proven to the vampires by Makoto flying after Vampire Mukuro drops him. After the fighting stops the two groups agree to talk and compare notes.

After the two Makotos talk about the regular one's adventures in the Mushroom Kingdom, Byakuya gets the vampire Makoto to get back on topic. He apologizes and explains what happened. In this world, the Killing Game never happened and none of Class 78 died. When Kyoko asks if her father survived, Vampire Makoto sadly says that they couldn't save Jin. Kyoko asks Vampire Mukuro if she, like her human counterpart, was responsible for his death. She confirms this and that her Makoto and Kyoko had freed her from Junko's influence. She asks Kyoko if her human counterpart was killed by Junko, which she confirms. When Aoi asks what happened to their world's Junko, Vampire Makoto reveals that, as punishment, her soul's been trapped in a painting and is unable to move or speak. Vampire Makoto reveals that after they prevented the Killing Game, they sent their world's Byakuya, Hiro, Aoi, and Toko to be their eyes in the outside world in the Future Foundation (an organization dedicated to eradicating despair) so that they can negotiate a peace treaty between humans and vampires. When Makoto asks his vampire counterpart about what happened to the rest of Class 78, Vampire Makoto reveals that they're hypnotized and serving them in Hope's Peak. When Makoto gets mad about this, Vampire Kyoko assures them that the others are still self-aware. Vampire Makoto elaborates by saying that most of them had broken out of the hypnosis and are living in Hope's Peak willing, the exception being Celeste due to her personality. It's revealed that the three vampires are married, and that Vampire Mukuro and Vampire Kyoko are pregnant with their Makoto's children. As everyone is talking, they hear someone approaching from the elevator. It's revealed to be this world's Sayaka Maizono, who is the vampire's primary messenger and has arrived to tell the three that this world's Byakuya wants to speak with them about the peace treaty. After the vampires talk to their Byakuya, Makoto approaches the alternate Sayaka and apologizes for failing to save his world's version of her. She doesn't accept it because she knows it wasn't for her, and Makoto picks himself up and vows to carry on his Sayaka's memories. Though when Sayaka tells the regular Kyoko to look after him and that any girl would die for him, this causes Makoto to think about how Kyoko risked her life for him and ask her if she would sacrifice her life to save his.

Kyoko answers that question by saying that it's natural for her to want to protect her friends, with Makoto having taught her that. When Makoto points out how she used herself as shield against Zelda's attack, she counters that the reason that happened was because he rushed ahead to meet Zelda. Makoto tries to say that he could've handled himself, but Kyoko points out that he's the least combative person and how she would naturally want to protect him because of it. Makoto tries to point out the incident with their doll world counterparts, but Kyoko quickly counters that by saying that he would've done the same thing if the roles were reversed. Just as she thinks that she's won the argument, her vampire counterpart calls her out for avoiding the truth. The two Kyokos have a Rebuttal Showdown until Vampire Kyoko notes how her counterpart says that if she was hiding something, the others wouldn't hesitate to tell her. She counters this by asking Aoi if she believes that her Kyoko would sacrifice her life if Makoto's life was in danger. Aoi notes that with her conversation with Kyoko, she felt concerned about how little she valued her life compared to Makoto. She also reveals that she saw Kyoko sneaking into the garbage room to save Makoto after his failed execution. Byakuya also points how she almost gave away their hiding spot to save a Makoto they hadn't interacted with. Vampire Kyoko claims that her counterpart is running from the truth. The two get into another Rebuttal Showdown until Makoto chimes in when his Kyoko says that their argument is a waste of time. He says that she's been hiding something from him, their friends, and even herself. She denies this, leading her and Makoto into an Argument Armament. During this, Makoto calls her out for feeling guilty for throwing him under the bus during the Mukuro trial. When Kyoko says that it happened a long time ago, Makoto points out that it wasn't that long ago and that none of them had moved on over what happened during the Killing Game and are using their adventures to run away from their problems. When a panicking Kyoko asks him what she has to run away from, Makoto says that she doesn't know how to handle her problems, bringing their argument to an end.

Kyoko admits that he was right about her feeling guilty about throwing him under the bus and admits that the guilt weighed her down so much that she'd gladly give her life for his. She also admits that she's not good at controlling her emotions, especially after the Killing Game. She says that seeing Makoto so happy in their adventures in the Mushroom Kingdom made her promise herself to protect him. As the two state they would have sacrifice themself in that trial for the other to survive, Aoi just says that they should stop dwelling over what happened, even admitting her own guilt of attempting to get everyone killed to avenge Sakura. Eventually, the rest of the group voice their own guilt over the Killing Game, but vow to keep moving forward with what they gained throughout their journey. After all of that, Aoi asks what they should do now. Makoto says they should try going home again, but Hiro points out how the Magenti-Star has taken them everywhere but home and Byakuya notes that they never asked Captain Toad how the thing even works. When Mukuro asks what the Magenti-Star is, Makoto shows it off and tells them how they never figured out how it works. Sayaka suggests the vampires use their powers to activate it, but Vampire Kyoko says it might not work due it being from a different world, which causes Vampire Makoto to ask his counterpart to describe what happens when it works. When Makoto explains how Captain Toad accidentally sent them to Hyrule, Vampire Kyoko asked who used it after that. Kyoko says it was her and hypothesizes that the person using the Magenti-Star controls the destination. Toko suggests that they all use the Magenti-Star. Before they can, Vampire Makoto asks his counterpart for something: to play Super Smash Bros.!

After the two of them play a round, Makoto suggests that his vampire counterpart get a Sega Genesis from his world's parents. Vampire Makoto reveals that wouldn't be possible... because they're dead. While the vampires stopped the Killing Game, they couldn't stop the Tragedy. When Makoto asked what happened to his vampire counterpart's sister Komaru, he says that he doesn't know. He was informed by his spies that she was in Towa City, which was destroyed by the Warrior of Hope and their leader Haiji Towa. As a result, she was considered lost, and Vampire Makoto has lost hope of finding her. He also reveals that in Towa City, each of their loved ones (Makoto's sister, Kyoko's grandfather, Byakuya's butler, Toko's pet stinkbug, Hiro's mom, and Aoi's brother) were held captive by Junko and the Warriors of Hope. They were lead by Monaca Towa, until her older brother Haiji took over and used a machine called Big Bang Monokuma to destroy Towa City. This resulted in all of their loved ones to die. With this in mind, the 6 survivors gather around the Magenti-Star and teleport away all focusing on trying to get home. Afterwards, the three vampires get prepared to sign the peace treaty in a few days along with some... other business.

Returning To The Mushroom Kingdom (Chapters 17 & 18)
In the Mushroom Kingdom, Toadsworth, an elderly Toad, and Captain Toad talk about the latter going to help Mario defeat Bowser. Just as the two finish loading supplies into the Starshroom, Captain Toad's ship, a flash of light appears before them and reveal the 6 survivors. The 6 of them notice that they're back at the Mushroom Kingdom and are confused as to why. After talking to Captain Toad, he asks to see the Magenti-Star. Unfortunately, it has lost its magenta color and is damaged. Toadsworth says that it most likely ran out of power from all of the dimension hopping and it seems there's no way to recharge it. As everyone questions why the 6 survivors are back in the Mushroom Kingdom, Makoto reveals that it was his fault. As they were teleporting away from the vampire world and thinking about home, he changed his mind and thought about the Mushroom Kingdom at the last second because he thought everyone would be safer there. While he wanted to believe that Junko was lying about the Tragedy, hearing his vampire counterpart talk about made him realize that it could very well have happened in their world and couldn't handle thought of finding out that everyone's families are dead. Everyone forgives him and are willing to stay in the Mushroom Kingdom, admitting their own fears of the reality of their world. With that, Captain Toad says that they can stay in the castle and offers to help them settle in, until Toadsworth reminds him of his trip to meet Mario. Noticing Makoto's enthusiasm over the mention of Mario, Captain Toad offers to take Makoto with him to meet Mario. Though he's tempted by the offer, he ultimately decides to stay with the others in the Mushroom Kingdom. As Makoto walks back to the others, he accidentally bumps into Captain Toad's supplies. One of his supplies, the Super Bell, falls on Hiro's head and grants him the Cat power-up. With that, Captain Toad departs for Cascade Kingdom as Toadsworth takes the 6 of them to the plaza to reunite with their friends.

On their way to the plaza, Makoto asks Toadsworth why Captain Toad's meeting with Mario. Toadsworth says it's because Bowser kidnapped Peach again, though he's confident that Mario will save her again. When Makoto asks about Toadsworth's relationship with Captain Toad, Toadsworth says that he's Captain Toad's stepfather who took care of him after the death of his father. Soon enough, everyone arrives at the plaza an reunites with their friends (Toko and Byakuya with the 4 Goomba underlings, Aoi and Hiro with Heihi-kun, and Makoto and Kyoko with the Yoshi they met). While Toadsworth helps the others with their living accommodation, Kyoko ponders to herself what all of this means for her.

As Makoto goes to talk to Hiro, Toadsworth announces to the two that dinner almost ready and that someone should get Kyoko, who had left the castle an hour ago. This causes Makoto and the Yoshi to find her. He eventually finds her sitting on a grassy hill and asks her what she was thinking of. She reveals that she was afraid that she doesn't have a place in this world. When Makoto tries to comfort her, she specifies that she meant her place in the world in an occupational way. Since the residents of the world turn to smoke when they die, there wouldn't be a way for a homicide detective to investigate. Makoto tells her that while she can't be a homicide detective, she can still be a detective and that there are still mysteries in this world that are waiting to be solved. Touched by this, Kyoko shows her burned hands to him and the two kiss. They are soon joined by the Yoshi and Makoto asks Kyoko if they could adopt him. She agrees and Makoto names him "Zyuran", basing it off of Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger. While looking at her hands, Makoto asks if she considered not wearing her gloves. She says no, but she does briefly imagine a world where she proudly shows her scarred hands, as well as starting a family with Makoto. He understands and the two of them ride on Zyuran back to the castle.

Meanwhile, inside of Hope's Peak Academy, a familiar voice chimes in from the building before its doors close:
