Original air date: 1/15/2011 (produced in 2010)

Patrick's older sister comes for a visit.

"Big Sister Sam" contains examples of:

  • Bottle Episode: The episode takes place entirely on Conch Street. Simply put, there is only one background.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Squidward constantly insults & provokes Patrick's sister. Considering the former's Butt-Monkey status, it ends as well as you'd expect.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: After SpongeBob points out to Patrick that his sister dismantled Squidward's house, Patrick adamantly accuses him of being mean to Sam, even though SpongeBob has done nothing to offend her at all.
  • Guilt by Association Gag: In response to Sam getting insulted by Squidward, Patrick shames both Squidward and SpongeBob, even though SpongeBob has just been standing there watching the whole thing.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Sam. The episode even gives us this exchange:
Sam: What Patrick doing? Why Patrick talk to meanies?
Patrick: Umm......umm.....it's about your temper, sis.
Sam: No have temper! This make Sister Sam...SOOO MAAAD, Sister Sam...PUT ON MEAN FACE.
  • Hulk Speak: Sam speaks in this manner.
  • I Take Offense to That Last One:
Squidward: That's it! I've had my fill of this thieving brute!
Patrick: How dare you call my sister a thief! Just because she took some of your things...
  • Jerkass Realization:
    • Patrick has this when SpongeBob points out to him that Sam destroyed his house in a fit of rage.
    • Sam has one when she realises her temper hurt Patrick.
  • Karma Houdini: Sam receives no consequences for her destructive behavior.
  • Knight Templar Big Sister: Sam to Patrick. For example, she attacks SpongeBob just for touching Patrick.
  • Minor Insult Meltdown: When Squidward insults Sam, she was huffing angrily, but then starts crying.
  • Series Continuity Error: In "Something Smells", Patrick said that he doesn't have a sister. Now as of this episode, he indeed does. "I'm with Stupid" retroactively implies that he probably forgot this.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Squidward disappears after Sam knocks him out of the bulldozer and destroys SpongeBob's house with it.
  • With Friends Like These...: Patrick, once again, is a jerk to SpongeBob for thinking he insulted Sam.
  • You No Take Candle: Sam speaks in this manner along with Hulk Speak.

Perfect Chemistry

Original air date: 2/26/2011 (produced in 2010)

When Plankton and Sandy learn they share a bond for science, they become lab partners.

"Perfect Chemistry" contains examples of:

  • And I Must Scream: The episode ends with Plankton being stuck in a corked bottle, in Mr. Krabs' safe, where no one can hear him.
  • Big "NO!": A rather muffled one from Plankton upon realizing he's been fooled by Sandy.
  • Death Glare: The first time SpongeBob makes a big fuss about being referred to as “lab partner” by Sandy instead of handing her a screwdriver, she looks at him with a very impatient, eye-veined look. But SpongeBob continues to act like this, she just snatched the screwdriver up without SpongeBob’s help, much to SpongeBob’s sadness.
  • Evil Laugh: Sandy's attempt at doing one with Plankton is pathetic and is lampshaded by the latter. She manages to do a better one at the end of the episode.
  • Eye Scream: The first attempt at using the transporter only transports SpongeBob's eyes to the Krusty Krab.
  • The Glomp: When SpongeBob and Sandy think they’re successful when the machine they are building initially seems to work, the two share a big celebratory hug.
  • Insistent Terminology: SpongeBob's insistence that Sandy call him lab partner.
  • Medium Blending: A live-action broccoli interacts with Plankton inside his gasifier machine.
  • Mistaken for Flatulence: Plankton invents a machine that can turn living beings into gaseous forms, a side-effect being that the gassed being leaves behind a smelly stench. He later teams with Sandy to modify it so that it teleports people to the Krusty Krab, with SpongeBob as their guinea pig; he constantly freaks Squidward out and brings in Mr. Krabs to show him, but all he smells is the stench and accuses Squidward of farting.
Mr. Krabs: Neptune's trousers, Squidward, maybe you should just lay off the broccoli for a while!
  • Out-Gambitted: After Plankton uses the teleporter and SpongeBob realizes he and Sandy have been tricked, Sandy reveals she has another trick up her sleeve and teleports the formula to the Chum Bucket right before Plankton could take it.
  • Running Gag: SpongeBob's various body parts teleporting to the Krusty behind Squidward, freaking him out, and his attempts to show Mr. Krabs ending with him assuming that Squidward just passes gas.
  • Say My Name: Sandy does this with SpongeBob when he gets on her nerves. Because of this, this leads to SpongeBob correcting her yet again.
  • Ship Tease: SpongeBob is genuinely upset about Sandy calling Plankton her new lab partner. His heart breaks too. As he sadly walks away, Sandy runs after him in spite of being repeatedly annoyed by his antics.
