“Dearest Mamo-chan, Minako's made it to the finals for an idol audition If she wins, she can become a star! But ever since the Three Lights issue, she's been really distracted. I'm afraid her true talent won't shine through in front of the judges. Let's cheer her on together, okay Mamo-chan?”

Minako takes part in an upcoming idol competition to see if her ultimate dream will finally come true. Coincidentally, Yaten is one of the judges and is strongly against her participation as it'll distract her from her true mission as a Sailor Guardian. Can Minako prove that she can have her cake and eat it too?


Tropes in this episode include:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: Just before leaving to start the show, Yaten asks Minako if she believes that pursuing her idol dream is more important then her Guardian responsibilities.
  • Bound and Gagged: Nyanko ties up and tapes gag Lead Crow so she can personally target Moroboshi.
  • Call-Back: Usagi is upset to see that her make-up exam buddy has forsaken her.
  • Capture and Replicate: Subverted with the replication part. But Nynako ties up Lead Crow so she can take over her assignment as a co-host so she can get attack Moroboshi.
  • Chick Magnet: Moroboshi is attacked by the idol contestants the second he appears in the room.
  • Continuity Nod:
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Minako gets her letter saying that she passed the competition. Satisfied that she an become an idol whenever she wants, Minako puts the letter away deciding that she wants to be with her friends who are more important.
  • Friendship Moment:
    • Artemis openly brings up Minako's hesitance with the upcoming idol finals to her friends so they can help her out. He would then stay by her side during the competition and motivate her to give it her best.
    • Usagi, Makoto and Ami encourage Minako to pursue her dream of being an idol by saying that her dream is another reason why they all fight so hard as magical girls. Makoto even assures her that they'll cover for her even if she becomes busy with her idol career.
  • Heartbeat Soundtrack: A heartbeat can be heard when Minako opens a letter for her idol results.
  • Image Song: Minako personally sings Route Venus during the competition.
  • Musical Assassin: Sailor Musician uses an electric piano guitar that shoots lasers at Moon and Venus.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The girls are rightfully concerned when Minako of all people declares that they shouldn't focus so much on idol drama and should instead focus on their studies.
  • Rule of Symbolism: When confronted by her friends about her upcoming idol tryouts, Minako is shown covered in shadow by some passing clouds. It isn't until when she hears encouragement from her friends does the cloud move away from her allowing her to bask in the sunlight.
  • Rule of Three: Tin Nyanko refers to an interrupting Guardian as a nuisance. First to Moon, second to Venus and third to Lead Crow.
  • Transformation Sequence: Yaten gets an elaborate transformation sequence when they transform into Sailor Star Healer.
  • Violence Discretion Shot: Nyanko flees the scene via Tardis only for Lead Crow to pop in intending to make her pay, violently. The door to the booth closes as soon as she steps in to choke her.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Yaten strongly disapproves of Minako auditioning to be an idol as it gives the impression that they're not taking their Sailor Guardian duties seriously.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Subverted. In the beginning, Minako looks happy to have gotten a letter about her recent idol tryout. But then she looks miserable when it turns out that she made it to the finals. But believing that now isn't the time to pursue her dream, Minako shoves it away preparing to miss it.
