Lately I've started to accept the fact that it's likely my soulmate will just be my cat.

After disappearing for a week, Luna returns as the new mascot of the Three Lights. During her one week in paradise, she develops a greater understanding regarding Yaten's grim demeanor towards the people of this world along with his motivations.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: While speculating what could have happened to Luna, the girls' ideas range between struck by a car, sentenced to the local pound, to joining a Shamisen band.
  • Atrocious Alias: Everyone dislikes Seiya naming their new cat as Inky.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals:
    • Noriko is the negligent type of abuser with a hint of physical. She sees her cats as toys for her to play with or build up her image. But when she sees something better, she'll discard her old cat without a second thought. She also takes a smack at her current cat when she was in a bad mood.
    • Iron Mouse shoots at Luna point blank with an energy attack after she ripped up her good costume.
  • Call-Back: Ami openly wonders if Yaten has a fear of receiving love letters, much like her in the Ami's First Love short.
  • Camp Gay: The green-haired pet groomer is definitely on the fruity side.
  • Dude, Not Funny!:
    • None of the Inner Girls are amused with Minako's suggestion of Luna joining a traveling road show.
    • Artemis isn't laughing when the girls suggest that Luna (his future wife and mother of his child) will ditch him for Yaten.
  • Flashback: Luna regals a tale to the Inner Girls and Artemis on how she became the new pet for the Three Lights.
  • Hormone-Addled Teenager: Minako gets the idea to sniff Luna after realizing that she spent a whole week with Yaten. Then her nose starts to bleed when she imagines all the things she could get away with if she was Yaten's cat.
  • Hypocritical Humor: After the Sailor Guardians chew out Iron Mouse for ruining the lives of their celebrities, Venus points out that doing so should be left to her.
  • In Medias Res: The episode immediately starts with Usagi telling her friends about Luna's disappearance.
  • Internal Reveal: Inky learns that Yaten, and by extension Seiya and Taiki, are looking for someone special.
  • Kick the Dog: Yaten shamelessly tosses rando's love letter in the trash not even bothering to care for the girl's feelings.
  • Mistaken for Gay:
    • After the fangirl leaves her love letter to Yaten to the girls, Ami "jokes" that Usagi could pass for bisexual.
    • At the pet shop, Noriko crudely jokes about Yaten playing for the other side.
  • Mistaken for Flirting: A random fangirl startles Usagi and friends by presenting the bun-head with a love letter.
  • Nice Character, Mean Actor: Noriko presents herself as a cutesy and lovable girlfriend type in front of the camera. But in truth she's a despicable, shallow woman who only cares about herself and her wants.
  • Not So Above It All: Even Luna goes gaga when Yaten charms her into becoming their new pet.
  • One Dialogue, Two Conversations: The fangirl presenting her love letter to Usagi. The Inner Girls believe that it's for her which leads to Usagi turning her down while saying that they can still be friends. The letter was actually for Yaten and the fangirl believed that the idol was already spoken for.
  • Pragmatic Adaptation: While "turning down" the fangirl's crush, Usagi insists that it's better if she falls in love with a boy. In the Viz Dub, Usagi tells her that "the right someone" will find the fangirl one day. Noriko making a crack about Yaten possibly being gay is also changed to her simply saying he's "afraid of girls".
  • Rage Breaking Point: Luna actually scratches Noriko after she makes a crack about Yaten being "afraid of girls".
  • Skewed Priorities: Minako is more upset that Luna got to appear on TV alongside Yaten before her rather then the teen idol taking her in as his new pet.
  • Talking Is a Free Action: Subverted. Iron Mouse keeps trying to interrupt the Sailor Guardians' In the Name of the Moon speech only for her to bounce as soon as they finish.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Seiya and Taiki criticize Yaten's dismissive behavior warning him that it can cost them their popularity with the fanbase.
  • Whip of Dominance: Sailor Ojou wields a long red whip and uses it to assert her dominance.
