Recap / SM G4s Mario Bloopers Mario Obliterates Minions

Go To

Minions invade the mushroom kingdom so Mario does something about them.

The Mushroom Kingdom becomes overrun by Minions in the wake of their latest movie, so SMG4 sends Mario on a dangerous mission to save the universe from the Minions' massive cringe unbalancement and restore order.

Tropes:

  • Ass Shove: When confronted by a Minion fan who tells him to get a new Minions toy, Mario does so...only to immediately shove it into the fan's butt and leave him incapacitated.
  • Ate His Gun: Or "Forced a Minion to eat a rocket-launcher", which is what Mario does at the beginning of the video, by jamming the firing end of the rocket launcher into a Minion's mouth and pulling the trigger, killing the creature.
  • Badass Fingersnap: As a reference to the outcomes of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, this happens twice, both involving Mario with the Infinity Gauntlet and all six Infinity Stones on it. Mario's first finger snap wipes out a nearby Koopa. Once he changes its target setting to his actual enemy, his second snap has every single Minion get Reduced to Dust. This includes the one that got aged into Bart Simpson, all Minion-related merchandise and the billboard advertisement promoting the new Minions movie.
  • Break Them by Talking: Mario uses the Infinity Gauntlet's powers (and all six Stones on them), to mentally torment the entire Minion horde chasing after him (or what's left of them), telling them that "[they're] all very stinky and no one loves [them]". All of those Minions break down and cry as a result.
  • Brown Note: Slenderman's singing causes the Minions to be reduced to bones.
  • Crowd Surfing: When he is swarmed by Minions with one of them even giving him the "Comedian of the Year" award, Mario breaks free and goes on top of the horde to get to the Infinity Gauntlet.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Once he gets his hands on Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet with all six Infinity Stones, Mario easily demolishes every single Minion out to swarm him all alone in mere seconds without breaking a sweat. Even a team of them dressed as The Avengers are nothing but easy pushovers to Mario.
  • Epic Fail: Aside from knocking the Infinity Gauntlet out of his grasp at first, all the Avengers Minions manage to accomplish is annoying Mario. The Captain America and Hulk Minion don't even faze him and all the Iron Man Minion can do is shine flashlights from his palms at him. But the Thor Minion takes it one step further by hitting himself with lightning and turning into a bucket of fried chicken, which Mario proceeds to stop and eat before calmly strolling over, picking up the Infinity Gauntlet and sealing their fates.
  • Everyone Has Standards: SMG4 may be a meme guardian who cares for and posts memes no matter how violent and/or absurd they are, but even he is repulsed by the Minions and their related memes, calling those memes cringe. Even Mario, who is usually stupid and admires dumb things and events, is horrified by the Minions' abysmal quality.
SMG4: Right now, the universe is unbalanced with too much cringe. We must purge the world of these Minions to restore the balance.
  • Face Death with Dignity: After the Avenger Minions fail to stop Mario from recovering the Infinity Gauntlet, every single Minion simply stands still while solemnly awaiting their demise.
  • Halfway Plot Switch: At first the video is merely just about Mario obliterating Minions, as the title suggests. Halfway through, Mario realizes there are too many Minions and the video becomes a parody of Avengers: Infinity War as Mario seeks the Infinity Gauntlet to snap all the Minions away. Downplayed as the video still very much follows Mario's conflict with the minions.
  • Heroic Second Wind: Right after Mario claims the Infinity Gauntlet with all six Infinity Stones in hand, the Minions pile up on top of him. Mario, however, breaks free with the power of the gauntlet and the Stones, blows them off him and proceeds to effortlessly waste them.
  • Hypocritical Humor: While Mario gives himself a speech that children deserve more than the Minions' lowbrow content, a montage of goofy SMG4 clips play over him, reminding us that his own series isn't exactly high quality art either.
  • Kill It with Fire:
    • When the minions barge into his room, SMG4 pulls out Pyro's flamethrower to stall them. Some of them survive and pounce on him.
    • Mario leads a horde of Minions into a cinema showing the new Minions movie, and once the horde enters, he throws a lit match into the room, closes and locks the doors, and leaves them to die in the ensuing fire.
  • Last Villain Stand: A bunch of Minions (the villains in this episode) dressed as four members of The Avengers barge in and try to stop Mario from using the Infinity Gauntlet.
  • Megaton Punch: With the completed Infinity Gauntlet in his possession, Mario sends his gloved fist into some Minions, causing them to fly across the mall.
  • Mobstacle Course: Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet is in the dry cleaner's in a mall...which is loaded with folks lining up for Minion-related merchandise. Mario thus has to get past the whole crowd to get to that gauntlet, encountering people such as a stereotypical "Karen", some people in a queue and Victor Perkins and later, a huge horde of Minions.
  • No-Sell: The four Minions dressed as The Avengers arrive to stop Mario, but none of their so-called "attacks" even leave a scratch on him, let alone break his limbs.
  • Nuke 'em: One of the ways Mario obliterates a Minion, by pasting an artwork of a banana on a nuclear bomb for the Minion to touch. The result is a massive explosion. Mario decides to repeat the explosion just for good measure.
  • Rapid Aging: Mario uses the Infinity Gauntlet's power (with all six Infinity Stones), to cause one hapless Minion to age very fast such that he grows into Bart Simpson.
  • Reduced to Dust: This happens twice. First, a nearby Koopa is wiped out when Mario first snaps his fingers with his gauntlet hand. When he changes the target to the Minions, every single Minion and all of their related advertising and merchandise crumble to dust when Mario snaps his fingers again.
  • Reality Warper: As a reference to the power of the Reality Stone, Mario, armed with the completed Infinity Gauntlet, stretches the limbs of an approaching Minion, inflates it and causes it to explode.
  • Self-Disposing Villain: The Thor-themed Minion fries himself while trying to summon the power of thunder to defeat Mario.
  • Smart Ball: Mario doesn't do anything stupid in this video as even he considers the Minions to be a blight on the universe. As a result, he presses onwards to find ways to destroy them all without engaging his usual hijinks, only accidentally saying "bottom" at one point and accidentally wiping out a Koopa.
  • Take That!: The entire episode is a gargantuan jab at the Minions, as they're considered cringe by SMG4 and Mario takes it upon himself to have all of them destroyed.
  • Tempting Fate: Mario brags that he's unstoppable after blitzing through everything thrown at him so far... until he says "Suck my bottom!", at which point a crowd of Minions overwhelms him. Thankfully, he escapes.
  • Think of the Children!: What SMG4 uses to convince Mario to go through the Minion-infected mall.
  • Too Dumb to Live: The Minions fall for a meme of Gru that Mario made telling them that bleach is super nutritious for them. The results are predictable.
  • Weapons That Suck: One of the ways Mario tries to get rid of the Minions is to use a giant vacuum cleaner to suck them into itself. Out from the device comes a box of Minion-themed Tic-Tacs.
