Sans is now in Smash! Only he doesn't really want to be...
- Adaptational Badass: Even when Master Hand gives him a beatdown, Sans is barely fazed. In Sans' original game, all of his stats are 1, including his HP, and he compensated by having complex bullet patterns and ignoring Mercy Invincibility.
- Beware the Silly Ones: Just like in his source material, Sans may be a lazy pun-making skeleton, but he's still a Gravity Master with crippling magic attacks and the ability to avoid taking damage from others' attacks. Master Hand learns this the hard way.
- Banjo is not to be messed with. He shoots fricking GRENADES from Kazooie!
- Big Damn Heroes: Sans saves Mario from the Ice Climbers when he angers them by using a Gaster Blaster.
- The Bus Came Back: Master Hand and Sans return after a long absence.
- Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Sans does this repeatedly to Master Hand once the latter corners him. Not even M. Hand going Super Saiyan from sheer anger is enough to stop him. Mario tries to warn him not to anger Master Hand, to no avail.
- Easily Forgiven: Other than eye poking a daydreaming Mario to get back what he did to him in "If Mario Was In Undertale," Sans is fine being around Mario, even having a short lazy-off before Master Hand barges in.
- Let's Get Dangerous!: Sans makes no effort to fight back against Master Hand until his ride comes to pick him up.
- Mythology Gag: When Mario recognizes Sans, he assumes that he came from EarthBound. Toby Fox previously made a Halloween Hack of EarthBound before making Undertale, which was based on the game's sequel, Mother 3.
- "Psycho" Strings: These play when Master Hand drags Wario away after the latter's attempt to escape from him fails.
- Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Lazybones Sans wants to go home, and he will not be stopped. To the point his pisses off Master Hand, and when Papyrus comes to pick him up, cue Sans crushing M. Hand.
- Too Kinky to Torture: No matter how much Master Hand wails on Sans, he shows no aggravation, fear, or even pain. That last part makes sense, being a skeleton and all.
