Recap / SK 8 The Infinity E 11 King Vs Nobody

Go To

With Reki back into skating, Adam challenges him to a beef in order to get a "rival" out of the way of his upcoming race with Langa.

Tropes:

  • Awesome by Analysis: Taking what he learned from his last race with Adam, Reki manages to pull off Adam's Love Hug.
  • Berserk Button: Adam absolutely loses it once Reki manages to best him and he swears vengeance for the humiliation.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Reki shows Langa some of the wheels he made, with one being modeled after car tires so they don't slip in the rain. He ends up using theses wheels in his race against Adam, so while he's significantly slower than usual, when it does start to rain he has the advantage.
  • Circle of Shame: While not circling him, everyone at S laughs at Adam after seeing him trip once Reki beat him and again when he goes looking for his skateboard.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Reki and Langa go off on a tangent about what a "third wheel" is after reading Adam's invitation to Reki.
  • Foreshadowing: Reki shows Langa one of the wheels he made which would help keep their grip on the road even in the rain, even noting that it looked like it was going to rain for the next few days. Come his race with Adam he holds him off until he realizes it's about to rain and manages to humiliate Adam by being able to keep his grip on the wet road while Adam fails a Full Swing Kiss and falls on his face for all of S to see.
  • "I Can't Look!" Gesture: As Adam starts to beat down Reki, Miya has to look away from the screen a few time as he flinches seeing Reki get hurt.
  • Madness Mantra: Adam yelling "Unforgivable!" after Reki manages to trip him in the rain.
  • Not What It Looks Like: When Reki blurts out Tadashi was the guy from the "love hotel" he immediately has to clear it up with Oka and Langa that nothing really happened as his face flushes in embarrassment.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Despite Adam managing to beat Reki, the entire S community ends up congratulating and cheering for Reki instead which breaks down Adam's spirit even more.
  • Just Toying with Them: Adam acts like he's about to perform his Love Hug again on Reki early on in the race. However, he feints in a way that a matador pulls the red cape away from the bull.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: Adam starts off the race by grabbing Reki on the head and throws him onto the ground, causing him to slide into the grass. He then uses his shoulder armor to ram against Reki mid race. Next he grabs the teen by the arm, spins him across the ground and then rams him into a wall while still moving at high speed as Reki screams out in pain. Even Adam's most staunch supporters start to feel uncomfortable with this one-sided fight and wonder if Reki would be alright.
  • Third Wheel: Adam calls Reki this in the card Tadashi delivers to Reki for their beef.
  • Throwing the Fight: Tadashi ends up conceding his match against Langa since he believes only Langa's beef against him would be able to reach Ainosuke in his state.
  • What Would X Do?: As Adam corners him, Reki wonders what Langa would do in this situation. So he decides to skate down the cliffside and manages to fly up in the air the same way Langa does.
