Oddly, the Great Pumpkin is nowhere to be found.

Jet enters the local pumpkin contest. Due to his impatience, he speeds up the process of growing plants with Bortronian technology — to unexpected results. Meanwhile, Mitchell goes trick-or-treating with Mindy and Lillian. Mindy is determined to prove to Mitchell that Halloween is magical.

  • Agent Mulder: Mindy and Lillian. They believe Halloween is magical.
  • Agent Scully: On the other hand, Mitchell doesn't believe Halloween is magical.
  • And I'm the Queen of Sheba: When Mitchell protests that Jet flew his pumpkin into the contest (which was true), Mr. Peterson says "Sure, and it's raining candy". Ironically, it does 'rain' candy towards the end of the episode.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Mitchell doesn't believe that Halloween is magical, and yet he believes that the Propulsions are aliens and is determined to find out the truth about them. He also actually believed that the kitchen counter was a black hole in "Detective Mindy".
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: When Sunspot is trying on potential costumes, he's first a cowboy, then a pineapple, and finally a pineapple cowboy.
  • Call-Back: It has a call-back to "Jet's First Halloween" when Mindy shows a picture of a witch (actually Jet) flying across the moon.
  • The Cameo: Dr. Bergs and Dr. Rafferty make cameos in the crowd.
  • Continuity Nod: The episode takes place one year after "Jet's First Halloween". Mindy and Mitchell wear the same costumes they did last year. Also, Jet uses his Bortronian sun lamp previously seen in "The Plant from Bortron 7".
  • Dramatic Irony: Mindy still doesn't know that the witch she saw on Halloween was actually Jet.
  • Faint in Shock: Mitchell faints when he sees Jet flying his giant pumpkin.
  • Flat-Earth Atheist: Mitchell is a staunch disbeliever in Halloween being magical. This is despite the fact that his neighbors are aliens, and time travel is possible within the universe as "Jet's Time Machine" demonstrates.
  • Giant Food: Using his Bortronian grow lamp, Jet grows a huge pumpkin.
  • The Glomp: When Mindy whistles for Sunspot to come, he pounces on her.
  • Green Around the Gills: Played with. Sean's pumpkin stays green instead of turning orange, so he decorates it to look like someone sick. Complete with a cold cloth and thermometer!
  • Halloween Episode: The second one in the series.
  • Hidden Depths: Dr. Skelley is revealed to have a knack for gardening.
  • Holding Hands: Mitchell, Mindy, and Lillian all hold hands as they go trick-or-treating.
  • Hook Hand: Lillian wears this as part of her pirate costume.
  • Hypocrite: Mitchell chastises Jet for singing to his pumpkin, but Mitchell himself creepily talks to his own pumpkin and calls it his "precious". Er...you okay, Mitch?
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: When Jet and Sydney catch Mitchell spying on them, he says he has to go water his dumplings. Later, when he's with Lillian and Mindy, he says that he has to go do something completely different from what they're talking about.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Mindy and Lillian keep insisting that Halloween is magical, while Mitchell repeatedly refutes their claims. Yes, he was rather blunt about it, but he did have a point that the stuff that they said were real like demonic spiders, ghosts, and witches are fake.
  • Loophole Abuse: Mr. Peterson says that the pumpkin contest doesn't have a rule that says you can't fly the pumpkin, so Jet wins the contest. Also, Jet's pumpkin is technically an earth pumpkin — he just enhanced it with Bortronian sunlight.
  • Multi-Part Episode: Divided into two parts.
  • Pirate Girl: Lillian's costume.
  • Running Gag: Zoom transitions being used any time someone calls Sunspot.
  • Sequel Episode: To "Jet's First Halloween", taking place a year after it.
  • Talking to Plants: Jet not only talks, but sings to the pumpkin to make it grow. Mitchell, on the other hand, simply talks to it and calls it his "precious".
  • Talk Like a Pirate: Lillian throws in a "Avast, matey! Deliver me lumber!"
  • Title Drop: In Part 2, Sean says "That's one gigantic pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!" as he looks at Jet's enormous pumpkin.
  • Town Contest Episode: Boxwood Terrace is holding a pumpkin contest. Jet wins the prize for biggest pumpkin, much to Mitchell's chagrin. Mitchell is later pacified when he wins the ribbon for the most "classically perfect pumpkin." Sean's pumpkin wins "most creative pumpkin," Sydney's pumpkin wins "pumpkin most like a pet," and Mindy's pumpkin wins "most adorable little pumpkin."
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The A-plot of Jet, Sean, and Sydney trying to figure out what to do with Jet's giant pumpkin, and the B-plot of Mindy, Mitchell, and Lillian going trick-or-treating.
