• Back for the Dead: Previous monsters that were killed are brought back to fight the Rangers. The only one that wins their game is Slowgre.
• Beware the Silly Ones: Cosmo comes up with his own scheme to get the Rangers, ensuring they're forced to participate and can't simply call for help.
• Big "NO!": Cosmo in response to the game being over.
• Clip Show: Averted. This was a rare holiday-themed episode during the Nickelodeon years that wasn't a clip show.
• Crazy-Prepared: Cosmo anticipated that one of the Rangers would try to simply keep the hourglass from running out by flipping it the other way and ensured that gravity has no effect on this magical device. Activating the game also created an energy field that closed up the nearest doors, making it much less likely for someone else to stumble onto the situation.
• Crystal Ball: The board game has one. Cosmo uses it to talk to the Rangers. They also have to touch it in order to face the returning monsters.
• Cutting the Knot: After the Zord fight, there is very little time for the Rangers to finish the game. However, because Levi was holding the hourglass when he accidentally entered the game, the Rangers are able to get out of this by destroying it.
• Flat "What": Levi's reaction to learning the game was Cosmo's trap for the team.
• Halloween Episode: The Rangers are in Halloween costumes until they get sucked into Cosmo's game.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: The hourglass can't be destroyed by normal teenagers, but being in the game gives the Rangers access to their weapons. Levi holding onto the hourglass when he accidentally enters the game gives the Rangers the opportunity to blast it to pieces, putting an end to all of this.
• Legion of Doom: The Rangers have rematches with Trapsaw, Hacktrack, Slowgre, and Spinferno.
• Loophole Abuse: Since Levi never officially joined the game, he isn't bound by Cosmo's rules like the others are.
• Nice Job Fixing It, Villain:
  • By the time Levi goes looking for the others, they're all in the game. Levi only learns what's going when Cosmo (through the crystal ball) is bragging about being poised to win.
  • After the Zord fight, there's very little time for the Rangers to actually finish the game. Cosmo brags about that fact, unaware that Levi was holding the hourglass upon entering the game and that he's just given him an idea of how that could be very useful.
• Oh, Crap!: Cosmo when he realizes that Levi is right about the Loophole Abuse. In a panic, he screams at the Skullgator to finish the job before it's too late.
• Race Against the Clock: The Rangers have to win the game before the hourglass runs out or else they'll be destroyed.
• Shame If Something Happened: Levi indulges in this when revealing to Cosmo that he has the hourglass and how "something" could happen to it any moment now.
• We Meet Again: The past monsters indulge in this when getting the chance to face the Rangers again.
