Hoenn
Episode 1
Right after Derek and his mother move to Littleroot Town, he begins his Pokemon adventure by catching six Pokemon (Tracey the Mudkip, Gerber the Poochyena, Sara the Lotad, Mal the Marill, Claire the Shroomish, and Joe the Whismur) and defeating friendly rival May and Rustboro Gym Leader Roxanne.

Episode 2
Derek and his team continue on their quest to become Champion as they catch new friends (Kenny the Sableye, Pastey the Electrike, and Collin the Illumise), defeat Dewford Gym Leader Brawly, and gain a new rival in the form of Wally his step-brother.
Episode 3
The journey gets taken to the next gear as after the team defeats Mauville Gym Leader Wattson and many new friends (Mikey the Geodude, Jay the Numel, Oni the Koffing, Red the Spinda, Forrest the Swablu, Monsters the Spoink, and Chrissy the Sandshrew) join the group, Lavaridge Gym Leader Flannery kills Tracey during their battle. At the same time, mysterious groups Team Magma and Team Aqua appear and take action.
Tropes
- Downer Ending: Tracey's death was the last major event of the episode, as the rest of the time was spent with everyone trying to collect themselves and figure out a plan for the rest of the run. As a result, the final moments were left in a somber mood.
- Mood Dissonance: ....Which was quickly broken by Chrissy's introduction.
Chrissy: Y'all look like you just watched someone die.
Episode 4
While Derek was able to defeat Petalburg Gym Leader Norman, Fortree Gym Leader Winona, and Team Magma Boss Maxie, things take a turn for the worse as Pastey and Gerber both die. They also get new friends in the form of Gabi the Magnemite and CHATFORM the Castform who Mikey quickly kills. Evolutions and moaning galore.
