Phineas and Ferb build a giant aquarium for their pet goldfish, Goldie, filling it with exotic sea creatures; they later decide to use it to host a giant marine animal show. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz decides to ruin all of the hot dog vendors' carts in Danville, forcing everyone to buy his bratwurst instead.
Tropes
- Big "NO!": Phineas screams one when Goldie is Swallowed Whole by an orca. Fortunately, Goldie gets sprayed out of its blowhole, unharmed.
- Brick Joke: One of the neighbors who is trying to water her plants has her water pressure turned off because of Phineas and Ferb. She asks her husband if he is taking a shower, but her husband says he isn't. ("Well, ya need one!") The neighbor reappears during the credits, and when she learns her husband is taking a shower, she turns the hose back on, causing the shower water to turn cold.
- Carry the One: In her E = MC Hammer formula for when Jeremy would call her, Candace regrets not carrying the one "instead of dividing by Jeremy's face".
- Decoy Getaway: Perry somehow escapes Doofenshmirtz's trap by leaving a decoy in his place, off-screen. Lampshaded by Doof who questions how he even did it while being completely tied up.
- Disney Acid Sequence: "When Will He Call Me" has some surreal imagery, such as Candace suddenly gaining extra arms to limbs to hold her communication devices, what seems to be Candace standing only to be a painting of Candace on a brick wall getting wrecked by a wrecking ball, and a phone growing and smashing Candace.
- Edible Bludgeon: Perry and Doofenshmirtz end up having a swordfight with each other using a hot dog and a bratwurst, respectively.
- E = MC Hammer: Candace attempts to figure out how long until Jeremy calls her by calculating the value of "soon", complete with Jeremy's face as a divisor in part of the equation. She later discovers "the square root of soon is never".
- Fun with Acronyms: Played with. Doofenshmirtz created two devices (the usual trap and the inator) with overly long names that he had to abbreviate, but even those abbreviations sound unwieldy to him, noting to himself that he needs to work on his acronyms.
- Here We Go Again!: The episode begins with Candace mulling over when Jeremy will call her. At the end, Jeremy tells Candace he'll call her in a little while. Candace then starts checking her phone to see how long it will take.
- Hostile Weather: Phineas and Ferb encounter a giant storm when they go out to sea and look for other sea creatures to put in Goldie's aquarium.
- I Surrender, Suckers: Doofenshmirtz proclaims to have surrendered when Perry apprehends him and pins him to the floor, before he grabs one of his bratwursts and slaps Perry across the face with it."But okay, I surrender. I'm a reasonable man. I know when it's time to FIGHT BACK!"
- A Lizard Named "Liz": Goldie the Goldfish.
- Look Behind You: During the fight Doof pulls this on Perry. It doesn't work.
- May the Farce Be with You: The entire sausage fight between Perry and Doofenshmirtz in this episode is reminiscent of Star Wars lightsaber battles, complete with the appropriate Flynning, a soundalike of "Duel of the Fates", and non-copyright-infringing lightsaber noises. At one point, Doof even directs his hand towards a metal fixture on the wall as though he's trying to use the Force like Luke Skywalker did in The Empire Strikes Back.Doofenshmirtz: Nah, just kidding, but I made you look, didn't I?
- Silent Snarker: Perry in this episode, rolling his eyes at Doofenshmirtz's plan to take out his competitions on sausage street vending. Doofenshmirtz calls him out on it; it provides the trope page quote.
- Special Guest: Sheena Easton sings "When Will He Call Me".
- Stylistic Suck: The Evil Jingle for "Doofenshmirtz Quality Bratwurst" is just one singer accompanied by a tuba and a very late cymbal crash.
- Telephone Song: "When Will He Call Me" is a song about Candace's distress over waiting for Jeremy to call or message her.
