Recap / Phineas And Ferb Day Of The Living Gelatin

Go To

Phineas and Ferb make a giant pool's worth of gelatin to jump and bounce on, only for a stray shot from Dr. Doofenshmirtz's "Turn-Everything-Evil-inator" to bring it to life.

Tropes:

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: Dr. Doofenshmirtz rattles off a series of words starting with a hard "C" sound when describing the gelatin monster.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: Now you can kowtow before my cartilaginous creation! It's so corrupt and cantankerous and... carnivorous, and, uh, um, low in... calories! And, um... cow, couch... eh, that's all I got.
  • All Women Love Shoes: During Candace and her friends' themed gelatin sculpture contest, Stacy made gelatin shaped like a pair of shoes.
Stacy: You know, 'cause I like shoes.
  • Attack of the Killer Whatever: Dr. Doofenshmirtz's invention brings a blob of gelatin to life and causes it to go on a rampage. When Dr. Doofenshmirtz summons the beings struck by his Evil-inator, he also summons a toothbrush and a bar of soap.
  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • When Candace sees Phineas and his friends bouncing on the gelatin pool, she says, "That does look like fun. Maybe I should. (Beat) Totally bust them for this!"
    • By the end of the episode, Candace has grown weary of gelatin because of the traumatic experience she had. However, Jeremy comes over and gives Candace some gelatin shaped like her name. She at first seems intrigued, because she loves Jeremy, but...
Candace: Nah, I'm still sick of it.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Dr. Doofenshmirtz tries to inflict this on Perry the Platypus with his latest invention, the "Turn-Everything-Evil-inator".
  • Broken Record: The song only contains the words "Come on, kids, let's squirt that gelatin monster, uh-huh-uh-huh-huh."
  • Butt-Monkey: Candace gets trapped inside the gelatin monster, which also eats her Jeremy-shaped gelatin, and even when she is out of the monster, she gets one more water balloon pummeled at her.
Candace: I have got to reexamine my life.
  • Creature of Habit: Agent P accidentally uses one of the secret entrances in Isabella's house and ends up in the division of Admiral Wanda Acronym, who promptly tells him about one Professor Poofenplotz replacing handbags, before seeing Agent P and telling him his lair is across the street. Then comes the Wham Shot of Isabella's dog Pinky being a secret agent as well.
  • Doves Mean Peace: Jenny's gelatin sculpture takes the form of a dove to symbolize her desire for world peace.
  • Expospeak Gag: After the gang finishes making their pool of gelatin:
Phineas: There's only one thing to do now.
Baljeet: You mean test the resiliency of our cartilaginous collusion with vigorous application of weight and velocity?
Phineas: Exactly. Let's jump on it!
  • Gelatinous Encasement: Happens to Candace after Perry's B-Plot brings the pool of gelatin to life. The gang has to save her by literally watering down the gelatin.
  • Gelatinous Trampoline: Phineas, Ferb, and their friends use a swimming pool full of gelatin as a trampoline.
  • Kill It with Water: The gelatin monster turns out to be vulnerable to water.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Baljeet's reaction to the gelatin monster is to say "Okay, I'm going home!" and walk away.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Of course Candace isn't just doing a gelatin sculpture contest because it happens to be Jeremy's favorite dessert. What makes you say otherwise?
  • Telepathic Sprinklers: After Perry is caught by the gelatin monster, he flings his fedora at one of the sprinklers in Doof's building, which causes all the other sprinklers to trip and spray at the gelatin monster, destroying it.
  • Two Words: I Can't Count: Candace says, "I've got two words for you, Mom: Gel-a-tin!".
  • Water Guns and Balloons: Among the many things the gang uses to beat down the gelatin monster. This episode provides the trope's page image.
