"Froggy of Denali": Molly and Tooey find a frog, and Molly decides to keep it as a pet... until she realizes that frogs are more high maintenance than she thought.
"Froggy of Denali" contains the following tropes:
- Boys Like Creepy Critters: Defied and gender flipped. Tooey decidedly does not like Bandifer. He only tolerates him because Molly loves frogs.
- Gender Reveal: Molly assumes the frog is female and initially names it Jennifer (before later settling on Bandifer, a portmanteau of Bandit and Jennifer). Grandpa Nat later informs her that the frog is male, as only male wood frogs make the loud calls that Bandifer does.
- Harmless Freezing: Grandpa Nat explains that wood frogs are able to freeze themselves to survive the winter.
"Molly Mabray and the Mystery Stones":note Molly and Tooey have been learning about petroglyphs, ancient stone-carvings, and can't wait to see them in real life on their trip to Sitka.
"Molly Mabray and the Mystery Stones" contains the following tropes:
- Affectionate Nickname: Randall refers to Tooey as "the Tooster."
- Crescent Moon Island: The petroglyphs are located on a beach called Crescent Cove, and they're only revealed at low tide.
