Art by Crash X Fusion: Let's wrap up a few loose ends, shall we?note
With the school war over, a few major changes happen for everyone.

Tropes that appear in this Chapter:

  • Accomplice by Inaction: The rat boy who got cursed in the Boiling Zit incident sees himself as this, given that he did nothing to stop the mob who injured Luz, much less his mother from egging them on.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Principal Faust debuts between "Knock, Knock, Knocking on Hooty's Door" and "Eclipse Lake" in present day instead of a flashback in "Them's the Breaks, Kid".
  • Adaptational Explanation: Apparently, Lilith got the skirt for her new outfit from Eda.
  • Almost Kiss: Emira and Viney prepare to share a kiss at the celebration in Geist's bar only for Hooty to kidnap Viney while Em's eyes are closed.
  • Answer Cut: Hunter briefly wonders if he forgot anything he was supposed to do but brushes it off. Then Batters is shown being grounded for disappearing.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Boscha and Tom have a quiet moment that, after Boscha admits how important Tom has become to her, leads to one of these.
  • Bilingual Bonus: At Geist's bar, Amity reveals to Luz that she learned how to say "novia" (girlfriend) from Camila. Later, Luz mentions the word for "oven" (horno), and laughing about it gets the following rant from Camila: "Esto es lo que pasa cuando le enseñas a un adolescente algo que puede torcer..."note
  • Blatant Lies: Since Boscha doesn't trust Hunter enough to tell him who Tom is, she lies and says Tom's a distant cousin on Nicole's side of her family.
  • Breather Episode: The chapter shows everyone relaxing following the school war, with the kids being able to enjoy a peaceful day outside school partying at Geist's bar.
  • Call-Back:
    • Faust lists off some of Luz's crimes from early Book 1, along with Nicole's failed attempt to get her expelled in "Blindsided".
    • Luz and Amity visit the slayground again, bringing up the last time they were there being when Luz fought Emily.
  • Character Development: Lampshaded and Discussed regarding Morty, as Jessica notes how much more relaxed he is lately.
  • Coming-Out Story: Gus officially comes out as an aroace to Luz and Willow. He admits that he's afraid his inability to feel love romantically is a byproduct of the artificial love between his parents, but the girls assure him that he doesn't have to find such love to enjoy other kinds, which puts him at ease.
  • Continuity Nod: Nina mentions fighting Skara in the war two chapters ago to Calypso, who earlier brings up her assault on Dusty and Amelia, and kidnapping of Gus.
  • Crush Blush: Donna has one when Tina asks if Nina really means a lot to her.
  • Declaration of Protection: Refusing to let Faust know why Belos is so interested in her, Luz warns him not to mess with her or her friends or she'll shove his horns down his throat. It actually surprises him, but he confesses he's under orders not to do anything to them by Belos himself.
  • Dénouement Episode: This is confirmed to be the epilogue and conclusion of the "Glandus War" Story Arc.
  • The Dreaded:
    • Principal Faust retains this trait, so much so that Luz has to maintain a brave face in front of him only to admit she's terrified when out of his sight.
    • Scabrina actually manages to creep Nina, a werecat, out by asking for samples to examine.
  • Expy:
    • Superintendent Mordo Freewitch is a parody of Morgan Freeman.
    • Sunny Muse and Ruby Friday are based off of third generation Total Drama contestants, Ella and Scarlett.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Simon eats a demon wing whole, bone included.
  • A Fate Worse Than Death: Or worse than the Conformatorium, in this case. Emily finds herself becoming Graye's apprentice.
  • Forgiveness
  • Freak Out
  • Funny Background Event: As Principal Faust announces his return to his old job, a teacher cries in the background.
  • Furry Reminder: Both Barcus and the Cerberus sisters are dog demons; since dogs age faster, they have special requirements regarding when they graduate from school.
  • Gilligan Cut: After everyone in the Owl House learns who Faust is from Eda, Lilith and Maya, Amity declares he won't scare her or Luz. Soon after, Maya states Luz gave her control of her body and went into the mindscape; sure enough, she's shown freaking out because she just cursed out her new principal.
  • Given Name Reveal:
    • Lambi and Puffer's full names are revealed to be "Mary Lambada" and "Puffington Harvester".
    • Dusty is short for "Dustin", according to Ms. Traveler.
    • Calypso's pre-marital name is "Woodemon".
    • Yuki's family is known as the "Ito's".
    • Levi and Goonla chose the name "Kay" for the unhatched egg, so that's what Amity calls her when it hatches.
  • Homosexual Reproduction: Donna has two mothers named Diana and Gladys.
  • Hope Spot: Eve is ready to dive back into researching Philip's diary. Then she finds someone in her room holding it and kidnaps her.
  • Innocent Bystander: The rat boy whose mother encouraged Luz's beating at the slayground was one and he regrets not doing anything to stop the mob, accepting his punishment unlike Emily. Lucky for him that Luz won't hold a grudge and forgives him.
  • In Spite of a Nail: King is put through Hooty's tests to learn what kind of demon he is and in a fit of anger, gains his voice powers.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Amity believes Luz won't be intimidated by Principal Faust, and we're shown Luz freaking out in her mindscape due to giving Faust a "Reason You Suck" Speech.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Emily being an illusionist and Glandus being connected to the Tarot Guild become public knowledge.
    • Luz and Amity decide to tell their friends that Belos is a cambion, his plans for the Day of Unity are to start a war with the Human Realm, Luz's role in it, and the BAT's arrest. They also introduce the troublemakers, the twins, the former Banshees and Bo to Maya.
    • Donna explains her friendship with Nina to her friends.
    • Luz learns that Elliot's made peace with Gus and will be rejoining the Human Appreciation Society.
    • Gus tells Luz and Willow what happened between him and Amelia before he was kidnapped by Nina, then comes out to them.
    • Viney tells King about her father.
    • Hunter comes clean with Boscha, Gavin, Angmar and Ukla about his identity as the Golden Guard.
    • Maya learns about the Slayground incident and Luz's fight with Emily.
    • Eda informs Gus about Perry being part of the rebellion and they begin to wonder if he got arrested.
  • Killed Off for Real: Thanks to Lupe, McScream has literally slept with the fishes...before his body got cooked in the Boiling Sea.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • For betting company stock on the war and losing, spending company money trying to get dirt on Ms. Traveler and skipping work the last two days, Nicole gets usurped as CEO of her company and Vitimir becomes her boss.
    • Emily's Humiliation Conga ends with her being blacklisted from joining the Emperor's Coven as the fact that she'll be working as apprentice under Graye is confirmed to be punishment enough.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall:
    • Luz mentions that her business in selling human artifacts got shut down in the first chapter.
    • After seeing Hooty kidnap Viney, Luz advises Gus and Willow not to get involved in that plotline.
    • King describes Atkins as backgroundish.
  • The Multiverse: The statement about the Nightmare Realm being the place where all worlds place people confirms that the series is set in one.
  • Mythology Gag: It's mentioned that Lilith wore contacts while she was in the Emperor's Coven, a nod to this Moringmark comic where Eda suggested it.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Principal Faust is given a first name, "Johnathorn".
  • "No. Just… No" Reaction:
    • After everything she's gone through in the war, Luz snaps when Faust calls her family believing he's another enemy threatening them and viciously telling him to screw off before he clarifies why he's calling.
    • When Luz, Willow, and Gus see Hooty kidnap Viney, they just ignore him given that whatever he's doing would probably cause them more grief and will work itself out.
  • Noodle Incident: Eda forbade medical practice at home after Luz brought home a Scrubs DVD.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Dusty tries to convince Ms. Traveler that getting eaten during the war didn't leave a mark on him, but listing off all the shocking near-death experiences he's had over the years has Ms. Traveler conclude he's in denial.
  • Official Kiss: Implied when Boscha and Tom share one, thus signifing a Relationship Upgrade.
  • Oh, Crap!: Eda and Lilith react with horror when they get a call from Principal Faust, and Luz is so freaked that she cussed him out that she lets Maya take control while she panics in her mindscape.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Principal Faust appears in present day, temporarily replacing Principal Bump.
    • Edric, Emira, and Mattholomule all begin multi-tracking much earlier, while Puffer and Lambi join them.
    • Lilith has her Significant Wardrobe Shift to her Season 2B outfit before "Follies at the Coven Day Parade".
    • Hooty brings in Viney to help figure out what kind of demon King is, using Puddles to have King assert dominance instead of taking a blood sample.
      • King unlocks his sound power after Eda gains her harpy form.
  • The Reveal:
    • To monitor Luz's recent developments, Belos has Faust return to his old job while Principal Bump is on the mend. Faust mentions that he's been ordered to not punish Luz or her friends in any way.
    • McScream has been killed by Lupe and his body was found in the Boiling Sea.
    • Maya states that her previous owner had known Faust in the past.
    • Luz didn't destroy Detention Hall; it quit. And apparently, it now works at Merlin Meadows.
    • Faust is well aware of Lilith cursing Eda to get into the Emperor's Coven, hence his low opinion of the Clawthornes being lower than when the sisters were students.
    • Skara and Dusty are now taking counseling from Ms. Traveler.
    • Kitsuni made the Detention track room soundproof at some point.
    • Donna, Tina, Beocrow, Tyrone and Veronica ditched class to help out in the war and got sent to detention as a result.
    • Beocrow is confirmed to be a Clawthorne, given that he told his friends and they seem to believe him.
    • Calypso's family was known as the "Woodemons", her parents were Lycan Hunters, and it seems they cut off contact with her for marrying a werewolf.
    • Since dog demons age faster, Barcus and the Cerberus sisters only have one more year of school before they graduate as they have become bonded mates planning out their future together.
    • Viney reveals that her father died when she was young and that he gave her Puddles's egg, inspiring her to become a Beast Keeper.
    • Emily beat up Yuki after putting her under an illusion so she'd think Ukla was the one attacking her. As a result, Yuki's parents forbid Ukla from seeing her again.
      • Yuki has been committing Self-Harm and is being influenced by the Inner Demon.
    • Diana and Gladys, Donna's adoptive mothers, are in the Illusion and Construction Covens, respectively. They're both owners of a toy company called SkullToys and are aware of Donna being part of LOWTH.
    • Seth of Septarsis ended up in the Boiling Isles with an army of monsters. Draco, one of its members, is connected to Donna's past.
    • The Nightmare Realm is where things that go missing in the multiverse usually end up and is where worlds sent their worst criminals. Mewni getting pulled in led to the realm becoming more unstable and will cause its self-destruction to happen much sooner.
      • Several Mewmans and monsters survived the merging, and the inhabitants of both are either working together to survive or have become cultists loyal to Bill Cipher.
      • There appears to have been a war between Mewmans and monsters at some recent point, and Solarian warriors are implied to have been involved in it.
    • Donna's key is revealed to actually be a keyblade.
    • Emily has had all her awards and accomplishments revoked due to belief that she cheated to win them and she's been blacklisted from joining the Emperor's Coven.
  • Self-Harm: Yuki has been doing this to herself ever since she was let out of the Healing Coven.
  • Sequel Hook:
    • Beocrow decides to wait a while before reaching out to Luz again so she can unwind, and the rest of LOWTH consider extending membership to her.
    • Skara now has to deal with Nina living with her, and the werecat will not be accepted at Hexside after everything she's done before and during the war.
    • It'll probably be a while before we see Emily again, but she's about to be free and working with Graye.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The kids decide to start a club protesting the Emperor, and Gus suggests they name themselves the "Junior Bad Girl Coven". This was the group's name in A Blight on Bonesborough, which coincidentally had been completed 4 days before this chapter's release.
    • Sunny Muse and Ruby Friday, the expies of Ella and Scarlett, also share the last names of both girls' voice actresses, Sunday Muse and Kristi Friday.
    • Diana and Gladys are named after 70's disco singers Diana Ross, and Gladys Knight, and their daughter Donna is named after Donna Summer, the "Queen of Disco".
    • Batters getting grounded for something that wasn't his fault makes him more like Butters, as he regularly goes through the same unjust treatment.
    • Seth of Septarsis, the leader of Toffee's people as mentioned in the defictionalized Magic Book of Spells is shown to be a refugee in the Boiling Isles.
    • The Nightmare Realm is treated as the place where worlds puts anything or anyone they want to forget. This likens it to the Void from The Amazing World of Gumball.
    • Kay's name is based off of Kay Lawrence, the character from Creature from the Black Lagoon.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: As per canon, Mattholomule and the Blight twins have their uniform sleeves changed to show the colors of the additional tracks they want to take. And to show their return to the Abomination track, Puffer and Lambi's leggings are changed back to magenta. Lilith also dons her current outfit from Season 2B.
  • Something We Forgot:
    • For a moment, Hooty thinks about his meeting with Tarak, and the letter he gave him, before forgetting about it, thinking it's probably nothing.
    • Hunter apparently forgot to talk to Batters's parents: as a result, he gets grounded.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Somehow, Seth of Septarsis is alive in the present day.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork
  • Unseen No More: Yuki makes her LC debut after being mentioned by Ukla several time in the past.
  • Wham Episode: In spite of being a Breather Episode, a lot of shit happens;
    • Principal Faust takes up his old position until Bump recovers as a way for Belos to keep tabs on Luz;
    • Matt, the Blight twins, Lambi and Puffer become multi-track students;
    • Luz and Amity tell their friends what they know about Belos' plans and they start up a anti-Belos protest club;
    • Nina is given parole and will have to stay with the Brooke family for the time being, being enrolled at Hexside as a result;
    • Lilith decides to take Flora's job offer;
    • Amity confirms she can understand Barcus now;
    • Gus comes out as aromantic to Luz and Willow;
    • Vitimir stages a hostile takeover on Heiron Labs, thus becoming Nicole's new boss;
    • King obtains his sonic power;
    • Boscha, Gavin, Angmar and Ukla become friends with Hunter, who admits he's the Golden Guard;
    • The Inner Demon is now feeding off Yuki's trauma;
    • Levi's sister Kay hatches from her egg;
    • Boscha and Tom share their first kiss, suggesting a Relationship Upgrade;
    • Tres is recruited by monsters from Septarsis led under Seth;
    • Eve is kidnapped by someone who claims Philip's journal;
    • And most shocking of all, Adrian Graye bails out Emily to become his apprentice in the Illusion Coven.
  • Wham Shot: A key Donna held turns into a keyblade.
  • You Are Grounded!: Because Hunter forgot to put in a good word for him, Batters's parents ground him for going missing, despite the fact that it wasn't his fault.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: As a result of her actions during the war, Nina is no longer able to return to her family or Torso Villa. Per the terms of her parole, Calypso allows her to stay with the Brooke family.
