Alison and Liam represent Dapto in the great Australian sport of handball. They face daunting competiton from Sydney, whose team is coached by none other than Big Greg's brother, Huge Greg!

Tropes:

  • Accidental Athlete: When Koala Man goes to Alison and Liam's school to motivate the students to try out for Dapto's handball team, Alison tries to get rid of him by throwing a tennis ball at him, but Koala Man accidentally deflects it back at them using his guitar. When the ball heads towards Liam, he panics and smacks it back towards Koala Man, where he accidentally deflects it back again but Liam catches it with his hand. After seeing how skillful they are with the ball, Koala Man chooses Alison and Liam to be on the handball team.
  • Animorphism: When Alison and Liam are doing poorly during the Handies, Big Greg offers Alison a drug that turns her into an animal to enhance her performance. Her team wins their first match during the Handies but she becomes too fierce and she slowly starts turning into a dingo.
  • Cool Shades: The Sick Sunnies of Dapto is a golden sunglasses that gave the town of Dapto good luck for hundreds of years, until someone accidentally sat on it and crushed it. Since then, Dapto has been cursed with bad luck until Vicky brings everyone a pair of sunnies from the Gods of Dapto.
  • Cooldown Hug: After Koala Man tells a dingo Alison he's proud of Alison no matter how much she changes, Alison lunges towards him and grabs him, only to reveal the grab is a hug and she transforms back into a human.
Sugar Dave: Correct me if I'm wrong, Daz, but it seems Dingo-Alison has turned human again thanks to the power of a hug.
Daz: Indeed she has, though that touching hug was with her coach, so we will be forced to file a grievance with the handball authorities and investigate this further.
  • Deadly Dingos: After Alison takes drugs, she starts turning into a ferocious dingo, terrifying her teammates.
  • Eye Beams: Vicky is able to save Koala Man and her kids from Big Greg's man-nimals athletes by using the lights reflected from the Sick Sunnies and aims it at them, setting them on fire.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Koala Man didn't even realize Alison turned into a dingo until Liam points it out to him and only assumes that was part of puberty for girls.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: When Koala Man enters the town meeting and everyone starts booing him, Alison is seen among the people booing him.
  • The Gods Must Be Lazy: Despite the Gods of Dapto creating the Sick Sunnies to give Dapto good luck, they never made another pair after it was accidentally broken. Later it's revealed they made a ton of them for a New Year's party and they never bothered to give them to Dapto.
  • Good Luck Charm: The Sick Sunnies of Dapto gave the town of Dapto good luck for hundreds of years, but the town became curse with bad luck after they were destroyed. Dapto's good luck is restored when Vicky visits the Gods of Dapto to have them make another Sick Sunnies only to discover there's a box of them in the trash pile and she gives everyone one.
  • Grail in the Garbage: The Sick Sunnies is a pair of sunglasses that gave Dapto good luck, but yet, the Gods of Dapto made a ton of them for their New Year's party and they put the rest them in a box on a pile of garbage.
  • Home of the Gods: The Gods of Dapto live on Mount Keira and live in a small apartment-like building that messy outside.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: After Alison transforms fully into a dingo and Big Greg reveals the cure to turn her back human got lost in the fire, Koala Man tries to calm Alison down by talking to her. He apologizes to her for getting her involved in the handball competition because he just wanted to spend time with her and he's proud to have her as his daughter. Alison lunges towards Koala Man and grabs him, only to reveal she's hugging him and she turns back into a human again.
  • Interspecies Romance: While catching animals to obtain their DNA to enhance athletes' performance, Big Greg ends up falling in love with a big fish named Tanya. It turns out Tanya only dated Big Greg to make Huge Greg jealous. Huge Greg and Tanya would later have hybrid children.
  • Man on Fire: After Sarah Sportsday tells the crowd that this will be Dapto's year to win the Handies, when she's about to light the torch, the flames from the torch incinerates her, her teammate, and her coach.
  • Our Gods Are Different: The Gods of Dapto look like ordinary people but they're just bigger than regular people, and the God of Fire is the only one you would believe is a god because she has Flaming Hair. The Gods of Dapto, which some of them have odd jobs, includes the God of Fire, the God of Good Health, the God of Popping Down the Shops, the God of Always Has a Guitar at a Party, the God of Fancy Seeing You Here, the God of Just Fuckin' Do It, and the God of Realizing Your Potential.
  • Our Werebeasts Are Different: When Alison is given a drug, she turns into a dingo while retaining her humanoid stance and hands, not unlike the Hollywood depiction of a werewolf. She is only turned back with a Cooldown Hug.
  • Running Gag: Everyone saying "sick" whenever they put the Sick Sunnies on.
  • Seduction-Proof Marriage: While bonding with the God of Realizing Your Potential, Vicky nearly kisses him but she stops herself from going through with it because despite the things Kevin put her through with his Koala Man antics, she could never hurt Kevin like that. The God is understanding of Vicky and lets her know if it doesn't work out with Kevin, she has options.
  • Stalker Shot: After Koala Man said things are turning around for Dapto and he has a good feeling about the future, the camera pans up to reveal the Kookaburra is standing on the stadium lights and reveals he's in possession of the animal DNA ooze.
  • Tsundere: When Liam tells Alison he's glad Kevin's love for her turned her back human, Alison claims she only turned back human because she knew she would be even more popular if she overcame the adversity of being a dingo. Liam jokingly makes fun of Alison for loving their dad and she tells Liam to shut up.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: This is the God of Realizing Your Potential literal purpose, as he help Vicky deal with her issue of Dapto failing and tells her she has to have the courage to break through Dapto's failure by taking action.
