In the year 2022, Earth was on the verge of destroying its environment.
Hope for the future was entrusted to ninja capable of producing natural energies like fire and water.
To follow suit, the government issued the Ninja Act.
Ninjutsu training became mandatory nationwide, and society adapted into a culture of ninja.
However... that was but a conspiracy devised by the dark ninja army known as the Niji no Hebi!
And the one who rose up against the Niji no Hebi's plan to take over the world... is the legendary Ninja, Kamen Rider Shinobi!
— Opening narration

Rider Time: Kamen Rider Shinobi is a 3-part spin-off focusing on Kamen Rider Shinobi, who appeared in episode 17 and 18. The series is set in the year 2022 where the ninja phenomenon became part of every citizen's daily lives, and will feature Kamen Rider Shinobi and new rider named Kamen Rider Hattari fighting an evil ninja clan.

Episodes

General Tropes:

  • 20 Minutes into the Future: The spin-off, which aired in 2019, is set in the year 2022.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Isamichi and Yami-nin are in love with Iroha, who is in love with Shinobi because she doesn't know it's her brother who obviously doesn't reciprocate.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The series will focus on Breakout Character Kagura Rentaro/Kamen Rider Shinobi.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: Something of a Running Gag for Rentaro. Every time he finds out the motive of the people he's fights, Hattori and Yami-Nin, he is flabbergasted that it boils down to them being in love with Iroha.
  • Lighter and Softer: The spin-off is much sillier than even the earliest episodes of Zi-O, being a fun (if not entirely bloodless) romp in a world where everyone is a ninja as an environmental disaster has left Supernatural Martial Arts-based Elemental Powers the best source of once-natural resources. Contrasting nicely with Rider Time Ryuki, which somehow managed to be darker and more brutal than the original Ryuki series by far, let alone the rest of Zi-O.
  • Sequel Hook: The ending of the special has Master Gamano setting out to find users for new Shinobi riders, and the credits have a shot of the 4 new riders. Also, it turns out that the Master isn't as heroic as we thought, considering Rentaro to be an expendable pawn in his unknown agenda. Also also, he can leave the painting and retake his original human form whenever he feels like, though it's not clear if that's a secret.
  • Serious Business: Apparently Japan passed the Ninja Act that forces everyone to learn ninjutsu.
