Go To

Emilia's father — Sir Rupert Smythe — has arrived to Palau-Palau on behalf of England's Secret-Service to help Jack and Emilie.

Tropes featured in this episode:

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Emilia's father insists of calling her by his pet name "Fu-Fu."
  • Catapult Nightmare: Jack has a knockout gas-induced Erotic Dream about Emilia that turns into one of these when she's suddenly replaced by Governer Croque.
  • Friendly Enemy: Jack and Emilia's father were this during the Revolution. They repeatedly tried to kill each other, but there was no real animosity; they even respected each other. Reuniting years after the war, they are more than happy to trade stories.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Rupert's big plan seems to be running at the fortress with a pistol and a sword. Never mind the fact that he's outnumbered 100 to 1.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: While Rupert cares for his daughter, he doesn't respect her much as an agent and colleague because of her gender. He clarifies because he wants to protect her, but it comes across as insensitive.
  • Tuxedo and Martini: Emilia's father is a Quintessential British Gentleman with a lot of experience as a secret agent and a taste for gin and tonic. Curiously, he doesn't have much respect for fancy gadgets.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Gal: Emilia feels her father never truly supported her following in his footsteps as a spy. In truth, he didn't - not because of gender roles, but because he was haunted by the thought of her dying in the line of duty and having to bury her.
