The Royal Classroom Arc is the 9th Story Arc of the Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun manga series.

The arc centers around Iruma being transformed into an "Evil Phase" after Ali cast a magic spell on him to have Iruma experience something similar to what demons go through. As a result, the temporarily confident Evil Phase Iruma convinces his class of misfits to go along with his plan to leave their rundown classroom by transfering into a much better one. Specifically, the locked Babyls classroom that was once used by the previous Demon King, Delkira, known as Royal One. To do so however requires the Misfit Class to convince all of the school's faculty to approve the transfer, which the misfits all set out to different teachers to win their approval. In the end, they succeed in their goal, and the Misfit Class transfers into the Royal One classroom. Iruma's evil phase wears off afterwards.

The arc consists of chapters 54 to 60, and was adapted into episodes 5 to 8 of the 2nd season of the anime.

Royal Classroom Arc Summary

Chapter 54: The Exact Opposite of Iruma

Iruma is finally back home after spending many weeks on-campus working for the student council. As a result, Lord Sullivan and butler Opera celebrate with a banquet. Iruma then goes to bed finally getting a chance to rest after all the non-stop work with the council. Ali pops up showing sympathy for the boy, but also mentions that what Iruma has done so far has been valuable experiences. Iruma agrees, but he states his worry that there's still a lot about demons he doesn't understand, such as when they go through evil-cycles. Iruma then drifts off to sleep, but not before Ali comes up with a plan to help Iruma with his current troubles. With evil-cycle and personality alteration as the base idea, Ali proceeds to cast a magic spell into the sleeping Iruma.

The next morning during a surprise breakfast wake-up, Sullivan and Opera are shocked to find Iruma annoyed by their sudden intrusion; showing that Ali's magic has forced Iruma into a temporary evil-cycle. Sullivan and Opera are unable to understand Iruma's persona switch during breakfast, and then Azz and Clara arrive to walk with him to school, which they too are shocked by Iruma's persona change. At school, the sight of a confident Wicked Phase Iruma comes as a shock to everyone. Then at his Abnormal class, his classmates are also confused at first, but eventually catch on that Iruma's currently going through an evil-cycle. A bad smell from outside then makes its way into the classroom, which catches Iruma's attention.

Iruma heads outside his classroom, and spots a large pile of trash left behind by other Babyls demon students. It's explained by his Abnormal classmates that they've been given the role of carrying the last leg of everyone's garbage since the school dumping area is right next to their classroom. Despite his classmates being perfectly fine with the situation, Iruma is not, and proceeds to burn all the trash with a fire spell. He explains that his class is his territory, and has many dignified demons that deserve to be respected, but that's not going to happen if they continue to be treated this way. As a result, Wicked Phase Iruma announces that they will move out of their barn, and settle within a castle.

Chapter 55: Royal One

The Abnormal students make their way over to the faculty room with Iruma serving as their spokesperson. Iruma makes his demand to Kalego to provide them with a new classroom trying to convince the teacher that it's the school's responsibility to provide them a good environment for learning. He also defends his classmates over being labeled as "abnormal." However, Kalego goes through all the Abnormal students' records pointing out all the sins most of them have done up to this point. Iruma is forced to accept the abnormal label, but with the help of a campus map, he proves to Kalego that their classroom, and its location, is a complete joke as a place for learning.

Kalego provides the bad news that there's nothing they can do about it since there's no other isolated rooms for the Abnormal students. However, Iruma shocks everyone when he points out there is one; the previous Demon King's Royal One classroom that the school's kept sealed up for years. The thought of the Abnormal students using the Royal One classroom that the school stakes its pride on enrages Kalego. However, Iruma remains confident, and asks for the chance to have the Abnormal students that everyone looks down on prove themselves as the ones who deserve the Royal One classroom.

Wicked Phase Iruma bets that they can get majority teacher approval for a class transfer within two weeks, but Kalego ups the challange to needing all faculty approval within three days given that their goal is a precious relic of the previous Demon King. Iruma gladly accepts the challenge, and then departs with his Abnormal classmates. Some of his classmates remain unconvinced that they can pull it off within three days, but Iruma encourages them that this is their chance to show off their superiority over everyone at Babyls by ensnaring every teacher. Iruma then points to his fellow Abnormal student, Jazz Andro, claiming that he will be requiring his skills first to steal something from Kalego.

Chapter 56: Abnormal Classmates

Despite Iruma's display of confidence, Jazz and the other Abnormal students remain unmotivated. They find it hard to believe that they can pull off such a tough challenge, and remain completely satisfied with their current classroom along with everyone viewing them as outsiders. Iruma decides to bring his classmates to the sealed door of the Royal One classroom for them to look upon it. He explains how his fellow Abnormal classmates remain faithful to their desire of having fun, which as a result, they take pride in being outcasted and different. However, Iruma points out that this makes them a group of fledglings that could one day become powerful primal demons, which grabs their attention. Iruma continues on that the challenge of winning Royal One should bring them great interest due to the amount of fun having such an incredible classroom will bring them. Thus, playing on his classmates' desire to have "fun."

Overall, Iruma announces that they should show themselves off as abnormal if they're going to be standing out anyway. Following Iruma's speech, the Abnormal classmates are finally motivated to take Royal One with Jazz first stepping forward ready to steal. Jazz is next seen returning to the faculty room convincing Kalego to meet with Iruma alone to discuss something. Once the three of them are alone, Iruma puts on an act trying to convince Kalego to sign the classroom permit in familiar form. While Iruma keeps the teacher preoccupied, Jazz activates his family bloodline skill, Pit - Furtive Glance; which allows him to see hidden items on people, and move like a silent snake to steal said items without the person noticing. Jazz successfully steals a notebook off the teacher without being noticed, which he and Iruma then show said notebook off to teacher Momonoki, who has an obvious crush on Kalego. The two of them make a deal with Momonoki to hand her the notebook in exchange for her permit approval; earning them their first signature.

Chapter 57: Babyls Teachers

At home, Iruma easily convinces Sullivan to provide his signature as the school principal due to his grandpa mode kicking in at the sight of his grandson putting on an act as if he's sad and desperate. Meanwhile at school, Iruma provides his Abnormal classmates with tasks that will allow for them to take advantage of their specific skill-sets to retrieve signatures from certain teachers. Picero and Goemon are sent off to help Biology teacher Suzy clean up her garden since their respective ground manipulation and wind-sword cutting abilities are great for clearing out weeds. Schneider (with the support of Clara) is sent to the library to theorycraft with teacher Morax as it turns out that the former's one of the smartest amongst the Abnormal students. Meanwhile, due to teacher Furcas being a perverted old man, Kamui is sent to use his own pervert knowledge to win him over. Finally, Azz is sent back to the Magical Development Battler division where he makes a deal with the division leader to provide them his fire-magic for their tests in exchange for signatures from the teachers that said division has connections with.

As time passes, Iruma and Kerori organize the signatures they've gathered so far. Iruma confirms that things are progressing smoothly, but are reaching a point where they'll be dealing with teachers that are just as difficult as Kalego. Kerori offers to win people over as her Kuromu idol persona, but Iruma rejects it out of respect for her desire to not have people know about her secret, which causes her to blush. Iruma then holds up two specific unsigned permits believing these to be the toughest teachers remaining: Astrology teacher Oswell Orias, and prestigious teacher Blushenko Buer. Due to Oswell being someone that only negotiates using games, Lied is sent to deal with him given his skills as a gamer. In addition, Elizabetta is sent to support him. Meanwhile, Sabro is sent to Blushenko, someone that Sabro attacked on opening day believing that it would be an easy way to earn a rank-up. Due to the bad blood between the two, the enraged Blushenko claims that he won't hand over the signature unless Sabro tries to kill him. As the only one left not playing a role, Iruma decides to focus on winning over the student council, much to Ameri's surprise when she gets word that Iruma's coming.

Chapter 58: Outstanding Demons

Lied challenges Oswell to "Unjalaka," a game that Clara invented during her time with the Gaming division that Oswell deems to be the worst game ever due to its random and nonsense mechanics. Lied also makes things difficult for Oswell by using his Controller - Sense Stealer bloodline ability to take away the teacher's eye-sight, but Oswell counters it by using his Lucky Happy - Stellar Fortune bloodline ability to keep control over the flow of the game. Meanwhile on Sabro's side, Blushenko activates his Heal - Near Immortal bloodline ability ready to accept any attack the student tries to throw at him, and threatens to send Sabro off in fear. As for Iruma, he meets with Ameri aiming to get a letter of recommendation regarding the class transfer as doing so will impress the teachers who hold the student council in high regard. Ameri wants to agree given her romantic interest in Iruma, but is unable to go through with it needing to keep up her image as the school president. However, upon hearing that Iruma is willing to do anything she wants if she helps him, Ameri starts to take it seriously, and asks why he's so interested in Royal One. In return, Iruma answers that he wants to show the school that the Abnormal class is not a bunch of problem students, but are actually outstanding demons.

Back to Lied and Oswell, the teacher is left stunned in disbelief upon realizing that the game has ended with the student having all the game pieces won. He pieces together what went wrong, and realizes that he forgot about Elizabetta; the second Abnormal student standing in the room with them. Thanks to her Favorability - Full Love Gauge bloodline ability, which has the ability to cause all men to try to gain her favor upon sniffing her scent, Oswell catches on that along with his eye-sight being taken away, Lied had taken his sense of smell away as well to keep the teacher from noticing that he was being strung along by Elizabetta into handing over all the pieces throughout the game in an attempt to please her. With the game won, Oswell agrees to hand over his signature.

Meanwhile, Blushenko is surprised to find Sabro suddenly apologizing for his previous actions, and that it's thanks to his new rival showing him that he will never be Demon King if he continues to not reflect on what he may have done wrong, and should consider the feelings of others. The sight of Sabro actually stomaching his pride to apologize impresses Blushenko into handing over his signature. Finally, Iruma gets up close to Ameri making it clear that by taking Royal One, the other students will begin to view the Abnormal students in a new light knowing the value said classroom will bring them. In return, the blushing Ameri is unable to handle Iruma being so up close to him, and winds up approving the transfer. Afterwards, Iruma pools together all the new signatures they've gathered, and confirms that getting Kalego's signature is all that remains.

Chapter 59: A Miracle of Clowns

Iruma and company return to the faculty room handing over all of the teacher's signed permit forms to Kalego, who confirms that they have indeed gathered all of the other teachers' signatures. Before the Abnormal students could celebrate their win however, Kalego refuses to approve the transfer as they glossed over the one little detail where he specifically said to gather up all faculty signatures and not just the teachers; meaning that Iruma and company completely glossed over the other workers of the school. Kalego scolds the Abnormal students for being a bunch of immature clowns who go around playing with fire without thinking things through, but admits that he will try to get their current room fixed as a reward for making it this far. The moment it looks like a loss for the Abnormal class, the school groundskeeper arrives at the faculty room.

Being handed a transfer permit from the groundskeeper, Iruma and company are confused by the situation as the groundskeeper calls for everyone else. Sure enough, all the other school workers enter into the faculty room, and each provide Iruma their signed transfer permit as a thank you for all the times that Iruma helped them out. In return, Wicked Phase Iruma happily laughs at the fact that he's apparently built up a fanbase, and thanks them for their help. Iruma then returns his attention to Kalego with all the signed permits of the school's teachers and workers pointing out that this is the will of Babyls. He claims that while it's true that they're all still immature fools, the Abnormal class has proven themselves to be capable of moving the hearts of the masses to the point of everyone wanting to see the Abnormal class get transferred into Royal One. In the end, Kalego is forced to approve the transfer of the Abnormal class into Royal One; resulting in everyone else celebrating.

Chapter 60: Derkila's Relics

Following the Abnormal class' victory, all of the students and teachers gather in front of Royal One to witness the once-in-a-lifetime event of the Demon King's classroom finally re-opening. Oswell also points out that it's because everyone is interested in seeing the amazing Abnormal class after viewing them as a bunch of weirdos at first. Before opening Royal One, Kalego asks Iruma if the latter is finally satisfied that people are finally acknowledging the Abnormal class, which Iruma admits he is. Kalego also mentions that he's received Sullivan's approval to open Royal One since in the chairman's opinion, the room's just been going to waste all this time.

The teachers go about unsealing the locks on Royal One's doors for the Abnormal class to enter. Upon entering, they're stunned in amazement at what looks like the inside of a fancy mansion, and go about exploring. Along with having everything they desire, they come across a large room with a blackboard that will serve as their new classroom, and within said classroom is a large demonic throne chair that catches Iruma's interest. He takes a seat on it, which leaves everyone silent staring at Wicked Phase Iruma sitting on the throne as if he's the Demon King.

The next day, Iruma wakes up in bed having finally returned to normal, which Ali explains that he never popped out due to being scared of the Wicked Phase Iruma that his powers created. The normal Iruma then breaks out into tears crying over what he's done, and goes about apologizing to everyone he's caused trouble to, whether it be his family members or fellow students at school. However, his Abnormal classmates are perfectly fine with it all agreeing that going along with Iruma's plan gave them a fun time. His classmates then put him back on the Royal One throne chair to tease Iruma over the stunt he pulled.
