Kou and the Hollow Existence

After chatting with the other royal families about their royal history and preventing another ressurection of Ninetails, Kou decides to visit the house of the second family for a break, only to hear that most of the successors were attacked and stolen their treasures and flames.

While trying to warn Yuel and Societte about the potential danger, he finds himself attacked by the same assailant, jealous of Kou getting all of the love.

Tropes

  • Cheaters Never Prosper: Subverted. While Societte cheats in her drinking contest against Buck Bronco by burning off the alcohol through her foxflames, her coming clean with the cheating leads to Buck Bronco noticing how nice and honest she is and gives her the info she wanted free of charge.
  • Comically Small Bribe: Societte tries to pay Buck Bronco one rupie for info on how to remove curses. Buck Bronco even lampshades that kids keep more money than just one rupie.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Double subverted. While Societte cheats in her drinking contest against Buck Bronco, he decides to attack her for having his pride damaged. It's not until Societte beats him in combat and comes clean with her cheating that Buck gives her the proper respect.
  • Injured Limb Episode: Kou spends the first half of the event crippled due to You charring and cursing his legs that any normal doctor is unable to heal it.
  • It's Personal: While You only made the successors unconscious and stole their treasures and flames, her attack on Kou is notably more aggressive as she doesn't bother stealing and cripples Kou.
  • Relative Error: At the hotsprings in Mimaka Island, the locals assume that Yuel and Kou are siblings. It doesn't help that Yuel is teasing him and piggyback carrying him the whole time.
