Azami's take over as the new Principal of Tootsuki Academy brings new changes to the school.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Distillation: In the manga version, Jouichirou takes Gin for drinks and they talk for a while before Gin gets the news about Azami. In the anime version, Gin gets the call as soon as he and Jouichirou meet again.
  • Affably Evil: While the judges from the Autumn Election already were aware of how umpleasant Azami is, his opening speech for the school and the press was very charming and reasonable. Orie recognizes that both moments were completely sincere from him.
  • Big Damn Heroes: As Erina was resigning herself to be subjected to her father's training again, Alice, Ryou and Hisako took her from her bedroom to hide her somewhere else. A few moments later, Megumi ran into them and offered Erina shelter at the Polaris Dorm.
  • The Comically Serious: Senzaemon casually flexes his muscles in Soma's room for no reason and takes him to talk about the danger Azami represents while working out in the park. There are moments where Soma can't take him seriously, while he remains unaware of this.
  • Cool Old Guy: Senzaemon requested Soma to talk about a very serious topic... while he does his work out routine. Soma is shocked to see the old man doing a lot.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: The flashback finally reveals the reason behind Erina's attitude at the start of the series. Erina has spent her childhood being groomed by her father to hone her "God Tongue" palate for only the most refined dishes, and deeming anything that doesn't meet his standards as "slop". Unfortunately, it quickly becomes psychological abuse, which includes keeping her isolated from her friends and family.
  • I'm Not a Hero, I'm...: After Senzaemon begs Soma to save Erina from her father's claws, Soma refuses because he doesn't want to get involved in the family drama, but will still cook until Erina says his food is "delicious".
  • Male Gaze: While Hisako tells the Polaris residents about Erina's Dark and Troubled Past, the scene alternates with takes of Erina undressing and taking a bath.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Professor Chapelle is the only teacher in the board who can see Azami's reforms as "Culinary Dystopia", despite Azami's insistence about creating a "Gourmet Utopia".
  • The Runaway: Only after Hisako, Alice and Ryou take Erina away, Ryou asks where are they supposed to go. Alice's suggestions are based only in TV shows and movies about teenagers running away from their houses, and a motel gets completely discarded since Erina is too sheltered and naïve to be on her own in a strange place.
